Spend Polychrome only after choosing a specific Signal Search target and checking whether your current resources can meet your own risk limit before that channel closes. Count Polychrome and Encrypted Master Tapes, keep Agent and W-Engine budgets separate, and use the deadline and rules shown in your game’s Signal Search details—not a generic patch-income estimate.
Build a pull budget around one target
- Choose the target and channel. Limited Agents use an Exclusive Channel; limited W-Engines use a W-Engine Channel. Decide which item matters more to your account before spending.
- Check your current resources. Count Polychrome and Encrypted Master Tapes separately. A commonly cited cost is 160 Polychrome or one Encrypted Master Tape per search, but the cited figure is from a fan reference, not a current official rule sheet. Verify the conversion in-game before calculating a budget. Zenless Tools’ banner reference also advises checking the in-game Signal Search deadline for your server.
- Check the channel’s Details screen. Confirm the current cost, S-Rank rules, odds, guarantee status, and search count for the channel family you plan to use. Do this before using an online pull calculator; its assumptions may not match the current rules or your account.
- Add only resources you can actually claim in time. Include announced event rewards only if you meet their unlock requirements and can complete them before their own deadline. Treat compensation as available only if you are eligible and can still claim it.
- Set your stop point. If your available budget does not reach the amount you are willing to spend without securing the target, saving is a valid choice. An active banner is not a reason by itself to spend.
There is no reliable universal number of pulls a player will earn before a future banner ends. Account income depends on eligibility, content completion, event timing, and activity, so base the decision on rewards you can confirm rather than a typical-patch estimate.
Keep Agent and W-Engine guarantees separate
Guarantee counts carry over within their own channel family, not across every kind of Signal Search. HoYoverse’s Version 3.2 Phase II notice says the guaranteed-signal count accumulates across Exclusive Channels and is independent of other channel types. It gives the same within-family, independent-of-other-types treatment to W-Engine Channels.

In practical terms, an Exclusive Channel count belongs to the Agent channel family, while a W-Engine Channel count belongs to its own family. Do not treat an Agent count as progress toward a W-Engine, or vice versa. Check the current in-game Details screen for your count and guarantee state before making a decision; notices can change between versions.
Compare what you would gain against what you give up
- Account value: Ask whether the Agent fills a roster need or improves a team you actually use. A character’s general reputation does not establish its value for your account.
- Channel state: Consider the relevant channel family’s search count and guarantee status shown in-game, rather than assuming two channels share progress.
- Deadline and reachable rewards: Count only rewards you can obtain before the specific channel closes, taking event requirements and claim deadlines into account.
- Risk tolerance: If spending your full budget without getting the target would feel like a bad outcome, preserve the resources instead of treating a partial budget as a promise.
- Opportunity cost: Decide whether the Agent or its W-Engine is the more important use of limited resources. Their guarantees are separate, so spending on one does not build the other’s count.
This framework is more useful than declaring one banner universally best: the answer depends on your roster, your channel state, and how much uncertainty you are willing to accept.
Version 3.2 Phase II: a dated example
As of October 7, 2026, HoYoverse’s Version 3.2 Phase II notice lists Roxy and Promeia as featured limited S-Rank Agents on Exclusive Channels, and Crimson Moon Casket and Frostfall Sickle as limited W-Engines on W-Engine Channels. The listed channel window is September 30, 2026 at 12:00 through October 20, 2026 at 14:59 server time. These are dated listings, not a recommendation that every player should pull for them.

The version’s All-New Program event notice offers 10 Encrypted Master Tapes for logging in on seven days. It runs after the Version 3.2 update through October 20, 2026 at 03:59 server time, and requires Inter-Knot Lv. 5 plus the stated prologue and event unlock. That event ends before the Phase II channels, so its deadline is not the same as the banner deadline.
The Version 3.2 update announcement says the version began September 9, 2026 at 06:00 UTC+8 and lasts 42 days, ending October 21, 2026 at 06:00 UTC+8. It also lists 300 Polychrome as server update compensation for eligible players and a separate 300 Polychrome issue-fix compensation with an October 9 claim deadline. Do not count either amount unless you qualify and can still claim it.
All listed channel and event times are server time. The notices do not establish a single local-time conversion for every player, so use the deadline displayed in your game for your server before planning a last-minute search.

Use pity calculators as estimates, not guarantees beyond the rules
A third-party Signal Search planner reports a 90-search hard cap and estimates soft pity beginning at search 74. Those figures are the planner’s published mechanics, not an official guarantee statement established by the sources here. The planner also models expected searches and patch income; those projections are not a promise of what your account will earn or how many searches your target will take.
For a decision that depends on exact odds or guarantee conditions, the game’s current Signal Search Details screen takes precedence over a third-party planner. The official Version 3.1 notice describes S-Rank Signal Customization and A-Rank rate-up customization for Exclusive and W-Engine channels, but use the current in-game terms rather than assuming every past channel’s setup is unchanged. HoYoverse’s Version 3.1 channel notice provides that version’s channel details.
