The best guns in Battlefield 6 Season 1 depended on range and role, not a single all-purpose ranking. For a launch-period shortlist, PC Gamer’s guide—updated October 22, 2025, before Season 1 began—recommended the M4A1, M87A1, SCW-10, PW7A2, DRS-IAR, M277 and SG 553R. Treat those as editorial picks from the launch period, not an official EA tier list or a verified ranking for every Season 1 patch.
Which Battlefield 6 guns were strong in Season 1?
PC Gamer’s October 22, 2025 guide offers a useful set of candidates, but its publication date matters: EA announced that Season 1 would start October 28, six days later. The guide’s recommendations predate the season and its subsequent balance updates, so the weapons below are best understood by their roles rather than as a definitive post-update hierarchy. PC Gamer’s launch-period weapon guide; EA’s Season 1 roadmap announcement.
| Weapon | Role and why to consider it | Trade-off or qualification |
|---|---|---|
| M4A1 | Carbine for players who want a fast-firing option with damage that can remain useful beyond close range when controlled with suitable attachments. | Recoil control matters; PC Gamer listed it as an early Rank 2 unlock. |
| M87A1 | Shotgun to consider for close-quarters fights. | Its role makes it a situational pick rather than a map-independent choice. |
| PW7A2 | SMG candidate, with a later Season 1 balance note in its favor: EA said the November 18, 2025 Update 1.1.2.0’s automatic-weapon long-range adjustments benefited it. | That patch note does not establish it as the best weapon at every range or in every mode. |
| DRS-IAR | LMG alternative for players who prefer that weapon role. | Its presence on the launch-period shortlist is not evidence of universal superiority. |
| M277 | Hybrid-feeling carbine with damage and reach worth weighing against its handling. | PC Gamer described it as having more recoil and a smaller magazine than the M4A1. |
| SG 553R | Carbine for a mid-range role. | PC Gamer’s guide described a substantial assignment unlock requirement. |
| SCW-10 | Included among PC Gamer’s launch-period recommendations. | The cited material does not establish a more specific comparative advantage here. |
These are candidates, not a numerical tier list: the available sources do not provide a comprehensive Season 1 performance dataset or a consistent set of time-to-kill or win-rate comparisons.
How did Season 1 updates affect weapon choices?
October 28 launch changes
EA’s pre-season community update said weapon dispersion would be adjusted so accuracy better matched each weapon’s intended range, and noted a fix for a dispersion bug after moving from sprinting to prone. The Battlefield Team summarized its intended play as: “Burst-firing will remain the most effective way to control a weapon, and each weapon will still perform best within its intended range.” Read EA’s community update.

November 18, 2025: Update 1.1.2.0
EA said this update globally reduced dispersion across weapon types and changed how automatic weapons performed at long range. The PW7A2 and KV9 benefited from the long-range adjustments, with minor changes elsewhere. This is useful context for anyone asking which BF6 weapons were strongest after a Season 1 update, but it is not proof that either gun was a universal top pick. EA’s Update 1.1.2.0 notes.
Season 1 additions: what were the new weapons for?
EA’s Rogue Ops roadmap introduced three weapons and described their intended roles. Those descriptions help identify who might want to try each gun; they do not amount to an official ranking.

How to choose the right Season 1 gun
- Start with engagement range. Choose a shotgun for close quarters, a mid-range carbine such as the SG 553R for its stated role, or a weapon suited to your preferred distance. EA’s guidance was that each weapon performs best within its intended range.
- Account for control. If sustained fire makes a weapon difficult to manage, use bursts; EA specifically recommended burst-firing as the most effective way to control a weapon in its Season 1 dispersion discussion.
- Weigh capacity and recoil together. For example, the M277’s damage and reach come with more recoil and a smaller magazine than the M4A1, according to PC Gamer’s guide.
- Check the unlock effort. The launch-period guide described the M4A1 as an early Rank 2 unlock and the SG 553R as requiring a substantial assignment. Unlock conditions can affect which recommendation is practical for you.
- Match advice to the patch. The October 22 guide predates the season, while Update 1.1.2.0 changed dispersion and long-range automatic-weapon performance. A recommendation without its date or update context can blur those different snapshots.
Are these still the best guns in Battlefield 6?
No Season 1 shortlist should be read as the current meta in October 2026. EA reported that four seasons had been added by then, and its October 1, 2026 Season 5 preview described further changes to recoil, damage and weapon balance. The older recommendations are useful as a historical Season 1 guide, not as a claim about later patches. EA’s Season 5 and beyond preview.
