For a flexible starting setup, consider The Sorceress for faster Omega-move channeling, Persistence for extra starting Life and Magick, and Death for a Death Defiance. Then spend your remaining Grasp on cards that match your weapon and build. These are guide-based recommendations, not an official Supergiant ranking.
This guide uses card effects and Grasp costs listed in the current Arcana reference, verified against Post-Launch Patch 2 – Hotfix 5 on July 28, 2026. A separate guide updated September 5, 2026 covers v1.0 through that patch and hotfix period. The recommendations below are therefore tied to that version basis, rather than a claim that one loadout is best for every player or future update.
Which Arcana cards should I use?
Choose according to your main constraint: survival, your damage plan, Omega-move use, or Grasp efficiency. A card is valuable only when its effect fits your run and, where required, its activation condition is met.
- For flexible Omega use: The Sorceress costs 1 Grasp and makes Omega moves channel 20% faster, according to the current Arcana reference.
- For a larger starting buffer: Persistence costs 2 Grasp and adds 20 maximum Life and 20 maximum Magick. It is a useful progression option when extra room for mistakes or Magick use matters.
- For another chance after a lethal hit: Death costs 4 Grasp and grants 1 Death Defiance. Keep it while survival is the limiting factor; if you are clearing routes and Guardians without consuming it, those four Grasp may serve another card better.
For a broadly useful progression baseline, try The Sorceress, Persistence, and Death, then adjust the rest of your capacity to suit your weapon and route. This is a starting point, not a mandatory board: using all three takes 7 Grasp, so compare that cost with the alternatives you want to activate.

Best cards for specific builds
The Huntress for Attack- and Special-focused play
The Huntress costs 2 Grasp and adds 30% Attack and Special damage while Magick is below maximum, as listed in the current reference. It suits a plan that spends Magick while continuing to rely on Attacks and Specials. If your Magick stays full, the condition is not being met, so consider whether another card would contribute more consistently.
Origination for status-effect damage
Origination costs 5 Grasp and adds 25% damage against foes with at least two status effects from different Olympians, according to the current reference. Its cost is substantial; favor it when your build can reliably apply and maintain the required effects, rather than treating its bonus as automatic.

When zero-Grasp awakening cards are worthwhile
Some awakening cards cost zero Grasp, but they are not unconditional free bonuses: the active-card arrangement must meet each card’s awakening condition. The current reference lists six such cards. For example, The Centaur grants 3 maximum Life and 3 maximum Magick every five chambers when its condition is met; Judgment activates 3 random inactive Arcana cards after a Guardian when its condition is met. Check the board condition before building around either effect.
How to make the most of limited Grasp
Standard Arcana cards in the current reference cost 1–5 Grasp, while awakening cards cost zero but require specific arrangements. Treat each choice as an opportunity cost: a high-cost card needs to contribute enough to your actual plan to justify leaving other effects unequipped.

- Identify the run’s constraint. Decide whether you need more survival, damage, faster Omega channels, or a different use of your limited capacity.
- Check the card’s condition. The Huntress needs Magick below maximum; Origination needs two status effects from different Olympians; awakening cards need their board condition.
- Match the effect to your weapon plan. Attack/Special bonuses are less compelling if your approach rarely uses those moves, just as a channel-speed bonus matters most when you use Omega moves.
- Compare the Grasp trade-off. Weigh the card against the other effects that could fit in the same capacity, including whether you still need a survival option.
- Reassess as your runs improve. If a Death Defiance regularly goes unused, or a conditional card seldom activates, consider reallocating that capacity.
