The Lenovo Legion 5 15IRX10 reviewed by Notebookcheck was a strong gaming-laptop deal at its October 2025 price of €1,499: it paired an RTX 5070 Laptop GPU with a vivid 165 Hz OLED display, 32 GB of RAM and a 1 TB SSD. In 2026, it is still worth considering near that price if you mostly game plugged in and prize the screen. Its short battery life, loud gaming fans and 8 GB of graphics memory make it a poor fit for everyone else—and the model name alone does not guarantee you are looking at the reviewed configuration.
What configuration did Notebookcheck review?
The tested machine was a Lenovo Legion 5 15IRX10 with an Intel Core i7-13650HX, an RTX 5070 Laptop GPU, 32 GB of DDR5-4800 memory and a 1 TB NVMe SSD. Its 15.1-inch OLED screen runs at 2560×1600 and 165 Hz. Notebookcheck reviewed it at €1,499 and rated it 86.5%, highlighting its display, gaming performance, keyboard, connectivity and maintainability. That price and score describe the review unit and review date, not every listing available in 2026. Notebookcheck’s review and test results

Is the OLED screen worth choosing?
It is the laptop’s clearest advantage over a configuration with a conventional IPS panel. Lenovo specifies the OLED option at 2560×1600, 165 Hz, 100% DCI-P3, DisplayHDR True Black 600 and Dolby Vision. The panel is listed at 500 nits typical SDR brightness and up to 1,000 nits HDR peak; the HDR figure is a peak specification, not a promise of sustained full-screen brightness. The surface is glossy. Lenovo’s display specifications
- For games and video: OLED’s deep blacks, contrast and fast pixel response make motion and dark scenes look particularly good. At 165 Hz, the refresh rate is ample for most gaming use.
- For creative work: The wide color gamut and 16:10 workspace are useful for photo and video tasks. They do not, by themselves, make a laptop display a substitute for a calibrated professional monitor.
- For bright rooms: Reflections from the glossy surface can be distracting, even with a bright panel.
- For flicker-sensitive users: Notebookcheck lists PWM flickering as a drawback. Sensitivity varies; if this is a concern, try the screen during the seller’s return period rather than assuming it will or will not bother you.
- For long static-interface sessions: OLED is a meaningful benefit, but this review does not establish a long-term burn-in outcome. Check the applicable warranty terms if that risk matters to your use.
Check the listing carefully: a 15IRX10 with an IPS screen is not the same display proposition as the OLED review unit.

How well does the 8 GB RTX 5070 handle 1600p gaming?
Lenovo specifies this RTX 5070 Laptop GPU with 8 GB of GDDR7, a 115 W TGP and a 2,347 MHz boost clock. Laptop GPU names alone do not describe power limits or memory capacity, so this is not automatically equivalent to another RTX 5070 laptop. Lenovo PSREF
Notebookcheck found gaming performance excellent overall and broadly comparable to the more expensive Legion Pro 5 16, which was slightly faster in some games. Most titles ran smoothly at QHD-class resolutions, but demanding games can run into the GPU’s 8 GB VRAM limit. Those findings do not mean every new game will run at maximum settings, native 2560×1600 and a high frame rate at once. Notebookcheck’s game benchmarks

- Start at the panel’s native resolution when performance is satisfactory.
- For demanding titles, try DLSS or a lower internal render resolution before giving up the 1600p output.
- Ray tracing may require upscaling and lower settings. DLSS 4 features do not guarantee native-like performance in every game.
- If memory use is the constraint, reduce texture quality first; lowering resolution alone may not solve a VRAM shortage.
- Judge frame generation separately from the base-rendered frame rate when assessing responsiveness.
Is the Core i7-13650HX the right processor?
The i7-13650HX is a capable 14-core, 20-thread processor for gaming, compiling, rendering and multitasking. Its limitation is efficiency: Notebookcheck found it consumed substantially more power than the AMD Ryzen 7 260 alternative without a proportionate performance advantage. That makes the Intel version more appealing as a plugged-in value buy than as a laptop for frequent work away from an outlet. Compare the exact AMD and Intel configurations rather than assuming that all Legion 5 models have the same processor, screen or ports.
What are battery life and fan noise like?
Notebookcheck measured 4 hours 55 minutes of Wi-Fi browsing at 150 cd/m² brightness and 60 Hz. This is a specific browsing test, not an all-day estimate: gaming on battery will be much shorter, and real results vary with brightness, refresh rate, graphics mode, power settings and workload. The 80 Wh capacity is substantial, but it does not overcome the Intel platform’s power demands. Notebookcheck’s battery test

Gaming fans are loud, according to Notebookcheck. Expect noise under sustained load, with performance-oriented modes potentially prioritizing speed over acoustics. A headset is sensible for longer sessions. Quieter modes may reduce fan noise at the cost of performance; the review does not support describing the laptop as silent or cool-running.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What ports, keyboard and upgrade options matter?
Notebookcheck praises the keyboard, general connectivity and maintenance access. The review unit has a MUX switch, but lacks Advanced Optimus, USB 4.0 and a card reader. The MUX switch gives users a way to select a direct graphics path for gaming; without Advanced Optimus, automatic switching is less convenient. The USB4 omission matters if your setup depends on a USB4 dock, fast external storage or an eGPU-oriented workflow. Photographers and video editors who rely on memory cards will need a reader. Lenovo documents HDMI and USB-C display support for the platform, but confirm the port layout and capabilities on the particular SKU.

How does it compare with alternatives in 2026?
| Alternative | Consider it if… | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| AMD Legion 5 Gen 10 | Mobility and power efficiency matter more than the reviewed Intel CPU. | Exact CPU, GPU, screen, memory, operating system and ports. Lenovo lists an AMD Gen 10 family with RTX 5070 options. Lenovo AMD Legion 5 Gen 10 |
| Legion Pro 5 16 | You want a larger display or a higher-tier platform and the price premium is justified. | Notebookcheck found its gaming performance only somewhat ahead in some games, so compare the full configuration and price rather than buying on the Pro name alone. |
| Legion 5i Gen 11 or another newer RTX 5070 laptop | You want a newer platform or more graphics-memory headroom. | Tom’s Guide’s reviewed Gen 11 configuration had a 12 GB RTX 5070, unlike this 8 GB 15IRX10; it is context, not a direct test of the 15IRX10. Tom’s Guide Legion 5i Gen 11 review |
| RTX 5060 OLED laptop | The screen matters more to you than the additional GPU performance. | Compare the actual price and GPU configuration; the available evidence here does not establish a particular RTX 5060 model as a better buy. |

Quick Recap
Who should buy the reviewed configuration?
- Good fit: Plugged-in gamers who want OLED image quality, 32 GB RAM and a 1 TB SSD without stepping up to a more expensive Pro model.
- Good fit with settings flexibility: Players who are happy to use upscaling or lower settings in demanding 1600p games.
- Less suitable: Students, commuters and travelers who need long unplugged sessions; the measured browsing result is under five hours.
- Less suitable: Buyers who need quiet gaming, USB4 docking, an SD reader or substantial VRAM headroom for future games.
- Consider AMD instead: If battery efficiency is a priority and an equivalently equipped AMD model is competitively priced.
