For smoother No Man’s Sky play on iPhone, turn off Low Power Mode for performance-focused sessions, leave Game Mode on if iOS recognizes the game, and keep the phone from overheating. These are general iPhone recommendations—not settings proven in a title-specific performance test. Hello Games lists iPhone 11 and later as supported, but has not published model-by-model frame rates or an iPhone graphics-settings recipe.

Turn off Low Power Mode when smoothness matters
Apple says Low Power Mode can make some tasks slower. On iPhones with ProMotion, it also limits the display refresh rate to 60 frames per second. That does not prove Low Power Mode causes a particular hitch in No Man’s Sky, but disabling it removes a system-level power-saving constraint when you are prioritizing play responsiveness over battery life.

On iPhone 14 and earlier, look under Settings → Battery. On iPhone 15 and later, the path is Settings → Battery → Power Mode. Labels may vary by iOS version.

Apple says Game Mode prioritizes a game’s CPU and GPU access and reduces background task use; it can also increase the Bluetooth sampling rate for wireless accessories, which may help reduce input and audio latency. Apple describes these as general Game Mode benefits, not measured results for this game. The feature requires iOS 18 or later and a supported game, and its availability for this title can depend on the iPhone and software combination.

When a supported game enters full screen, Game Mode turns on automatically. To check or manage it, open Control Centre and use Game Overlay while the game is running. If iOS does not recognize the game as supported, there may be no Game Mode control to enable.
Keep heat from undermining performance
Long sessions in direct sunlight or a hot environment can warm an iPhone. Apple says excessive device temperature can lead some apps to show lower frame rates or take longer to process. If play becomes less smooth as the phone heats up, pause and let it cool rather than assuming a graphics setting is responsible.

Apple’s stated ambient operating guidance for iPhone is 0ºC to 35ºC. This is general device guidance, not a game-specific temperature target.

Hello Games’ October 12, 2026 announcement says the iOS version supports iPhone 11 and later. It lists a higher requirement for Planetary Settlements: iPhone 15 Pro or later. Meeting the minimum support requirement does not mean every eligible iPhone will deliver identical performance, and the developer has not published comparative frame-rate figures.

The same announcement says the iOS version includes more than 40 major updates and has a download size under 4 GB. These are developer-published figures, not independent measurements. It also says multiplayer is not supported in the iOS version.
What the iOS version does—and does not—let you tune
Hello Games says it worked on battery life and thermodynamics for the iOS release, but does not provide a testing method or device-by-device results. Its announcement does not document an in-game performance mode, resolution slider, frame-rate cap, or graphics preset. Avoid relying on instructions for those controls unless the game itself later exposes them in your installed version.

The announcement set October 28, 2026 as the planned release date. Because availability can change, check the current App Store listing or Hello Games announcement for release status.
Use a controller for comfort, not as a performance tweak
Hello Games confirms controller support and says the touch controls were rebuilt for iOS, but it does not name controller models or publish compatibility tests. A controller is therefore an input and comfort choice, not a documented graphics or frame-rate fix. Verify that a specific controller works with your iPhone and the game before buying it.

If the game still feels slow or stutters
- Free up storage: Apple’s general slow-device guidance recommends keeping at least 1 GB of free space. This is not evidence that storage is the cause of a particular game hitch.
- Check battery health: Apple recommends checking it when performance concerns persist. Battery condition is one troubleshooting factor, not a confirmed explanation for game-specific slowdown.
- Watch for a heat pattern: If performance worsens as the phone warms, stop play and let the device cool before trying again.
- Separate input feel from rendering: A controller may change comfort or control responsiveness; it does not establish a higher frame rate.
There is no evidence here to rank supported iPhones by actual No Man’s Sky frame rate. For a device choice, distinguish baseline game support from the iPhone 15 Pro-or-later Planetary Settlements requirement, consider whether your phone has ProMotion, and assess heat and frame stability in your own sessions.
