Bento Tokens are no longer spendable: the Destiny 2 Past is Prologue event guide said they expired on February 4, 2025. For players deciding how to have spent them during that event, the dated recommendation was Cloudstrike if you did not own it, then Cataphract GL3 (Adept), followed by an Exotic Cipher or Spoils of Conquest based on need. Mementos were preference picks, while most Bone Artifice armor was a lower priority. This is historical advice, not a current vendor menu or weapon-meta ranking.
Are Bento Tokens available in Destiny 2 now?
No. The Bento Tokens in this guide belonged to the Past is Prologue event in January–February 2025. The contemporaneous guide said players could earn up to eight tokens through special quests associated with the Drifter, exchange them with Eris on the Moon, and that the tokens expired February 4, 2025. Bungie’s January 16 weekly update also reported an opportunity to earn eight tokens. The event guide supplies the detailed reward menu and costs; Bungie’s update corroborates the eight-token total.

Bungie says Update 9.7.0 launched June 9, 2026, and its support guide describes a changed post-update game and reward environment. It does not confirm a Bento Token event returning, so a future return is unconfirmed—not ruled out. Bungie’s Update 9.7.0 guide provides the current context; it does not make the 2025 vendor instructions current.
What the Past is Prologue vendor offered
The January 23, 2025 guide listed these rewards. Each item cost one token unless the table specifies otherwise; Bone Artifice armor pieces each cost two, and Cloudstrike cost three.

How to prioritize the rewards
The best historical purchase depended on what your account already had and what you wanted: a weapon, upgrade material, raid resource, or cosmetic. There are no comparative performance statistics in the cited material that justify a numerical ranking.

- Brand New in box. The product ships with all relevant accessories
1. Cloudstrike, if it was missing from your collection
The guide’s first pick for a player without Cloudstrike was the Exotic sniper rifle, for three tokens. It described the weapon as useful in PvP and, in suitable circumstances, for PvE boss damage. Those are the guide’s January 2025 judgments, not current balance testing or a claim about today’s meta. If you already owned it, its collection value was lower than a reward that met another account need.
2. Cataphract GL3 (Adept), for an endgame weapon
The guide highlighted this one-token Strand heavy grenade launcher and its perk combination, as well as the context in which it was available. That makes it a sensible historical weapon choice if it fit your loadout goals. The recommendation is dated; the cited sources do not establish how it compares with weapons in the current sandbox.

3. Exotic Cipher or Spoils of Conquest, when you had a use for them
Choose the Exotic Cipher if you needed one for your account’s progression; the guide characterized Ciphers as tedious to obtain. Spoils of Conquest were a better fit if you were working toward raid-related purchases, although the guide noted that some Spoils could be obtained through other routes. Neither currency was automatically the best choice for every player.
4. A Memento, if you wanted its appearance
Mementos are cosmetic, preference-based purchases. Pick the one whose shader you wanted for an eligible crafted or enhanced weapon. The guide does not establish a gameplay advantage for one Memento over another.

5. Bone Artifice armor, mainly for a missing class item
The guide discouraged most armor pieces because they cost two tokens and, in its 2025 assessment, had weak rolls. It identified the class item as a possible exception for a player who did not already have an Artifice class item. This is a dated assessment, not a statement about current armor availability or rolls.

Bento Tokens were tied to a limited event and cannot be treated as a current currency. Bungie’s currency guide describes Chronologs as a way to acquire past rewards or materials from the Seasonal Archive, and Strange Coins as currency exchangeable with Xûr for items including Exotic gear. Those are separate systems, not replacements that can be spent through the old Bento vendor. See Bungie’s currency guide.
