But adapter compatibility does not mean every PS4 game supports keyboard and mouse controls, or that every game permits adapters in competitive play. Check the exact game and its current rules before buying.
Which PS4 adapter should you choose?
The official setup documentation establishes PS4 compatibility for both products, but it does not establish a performance winner. Choose based on the console and peripherals you own, the authentication controller and connections required, and whether the adapter has configuration support for your game.

What to check before choosing
Your console and controller
If you are considering XIM MATRIX, make sure you have a genuine DualShock 4 v2 and a compatible cable for its authentication connection. XIM describes port 3 as the console-authentication port in its hardware compatibility guide. Cronus’s cited PS4 page explicitly covers the base PS4, Slim, and Pro; for a Pro, follow its rear-port instruction.
Your keyboard and mouse
XIM’s PS4 guide names wired keyboard and mouse inputs. Cronus says most standard USB mouse and keyboard devices are supported, but compatibility is not universal; consult its supported-device listing for your particular peripherals. If your setup depends on wireless devices, verify those exact devices and connection methods with the manufacturer rather than assuming the wired-input guidance covers them.

Your game and its rules
An adapter’s ability to connect to a console is not proof that a particular game offers native mouse-and-keyboard controls. Adapter behavior and configuration can vary by title. Check the game’s own control documentation and current competitive rules; do not assume adapter use is allowed in ranked, tournament, or other competitive modes.
Setup expectations
XIM MATRIX
- Connect a genuine DualShock 4 v2 to XIM MATRIX port 3 as the authentication controller, using the matching cable, which is supplied separately.
- Connect the wired keyboard and mouse to the input ports specified in XIM’s PS4 guide.
- Use the guide’s game-specific configuration instructions. XIM notes that a new PS4 configuration may require setting the game’s sensitivity to maximum and that other title-specific settings may apply.
Cronus Zen
- Confirm that your mouse and keyboard are supported using Cronus’s device listing.
- Follow the official PS4 setup guide for your console model. On PS4 Pro, it directs you to use the console’s rear USB port for the console/PC cable.
- Check the game’s own settings and current rules before using the adapter, especially for competitive play.
What “pro-level” does—and does not—mean
Neither cited setup guide provides independent latency measurements or a head-to-head performance test. Compatibility documentation can help you determine whether a setup is supported; it cannot substantiate claims that an adapter makes play faster, improves aim, or provides a competitive advantage. Treat “pro-level” as promotional framing, not a verified result.
