That configuration follows KontrolFreek’s own shooter guidance, but it is not a proven performance ranking. The right choice still depends on your controller, hand comfort, preferred stick shape and time to adjust.
Why Galaxy is the best-supported starting point
KontrolFreek recommends considering lower or mid-rise height on the left stick and mid- or high-rise height on the right for shooter games. The idea is to match the sticks to their different roles: movement on the left, aiming on the right. Galaxy is sold as that mixed-height pair, with a mid-rise left stick and a high-rise right stick. That makes Galaxy a practical first option to compare, not a guarantee of better Fortnite results. KontrolFreek says the preferred setup varies with game, hand size, sensitivity and personal preference. Smaller hands may find lower or mixed heights more comfortable, and the company advises giving yourself time to adjust to a new height. KontrolFreek’s thumbstick guidance.

Choose by height, shape and comfort
- Want different heights for movement and aim? Start by comparing Galaxy’s mid-rise-left, high-rise-right arrangement with the similarly described Fortnite Aim Boost Kit.
- Want more height? Compare Inferno’s listed added height with your comfort and controller fit. A taller stick is a preference, not a universal upgrade.
- Prefer a Fortnite-branded design? Compare the Aim Boost Kit, Fishstick Edition and Battle Royale by their listed heights, surface shape and the exact platform variant available.
- Have smaller hands or dislike a tall right stick? A lower or mixed-height setup may be more comfortable. KontrolFreek does not name one height as best for every player.
Check controller compatibility before buying
Galaxy’s official listing names versions for PlayStation 5/4, Xbox Series X|S/One and Switch Pro. Inferno also lists PlayStation, Xbox and Switch Pro controllers. KontrolFreek says its products are primarily designed for official PlayStation and Xbox controllers, and compatibility with untested third-party models is not guaranteed. Different controllers from the same manufacturer can have different stick designs; removable caps, edge shapes, materials and attachment systems can affect fit. The guide warns: “Do not force the Performance Thumbstick onto the controller.” If it will not attach securely with normal pressure, stop; forcing it may damage the clips, controller or original analog stick.

- Identify your exact controller. Use the compatibility guide to check the full model, then match it to the product’s console variant.
- Decide what you want each stick to do. For a mixed-height shooter setup, compare a lower or mid-rise left stick with a mid- or high-rise right stick.
- Choose a surface and height you can control comfortably. Compare the domed Battle Royale option with the other listings, and consider hand size as well as preferred grip.
- Allow an adjustment period. KontrolFreek advises giving yourself time to adapt to a different height; comfort and preference matter more than a product’s performance language.
- Stop if the fit is wrong. Do not force an attachment that does not fit securely with normal pressure.
KontrolFreek’s guidance sums up the personal nature of the choice: “Your ideal KontrolFreek setup will depend on your game genre, hand size, sensitivity, and personal preferences.”
