PICO PARK 2 is the closest match if your group wants shared 2D action puzzles, constant communication, and support for both couch and online sessions. Nintendo lists 2–8 players, cross-platform online play, and up to seven online players joining from one Switch. If your group is smaller or wants a different kind of teamwork, Death Squared, KeyWe, Unrailed!, and Heave Ho 2 each preserve the cooperative problem-solving while changing the pace, camera, or objective.
This guide sorts those choices by group size, play mode, and the kind of cooperation they demand. Platform support, online requirements, and physical availability can differ by edition and region, so confirm the store listing for the system you intend to use.

At a glance: the best PICO PARK-style choices
| Game | Best for | Players and modes established by official sources | What changes from PICO PARK |
|---|---|---|---|
| PICO PARK 2 | The closest overall alternative | 2–8; local or online; cross-platform online; up to seven online players can join from one Switch | It is the direct continuation of the same cooperative action-puzzle formula. |
| Death Squared | Small groups that want pure puzzle solving | 1, 2, or 4 players | More deliberate, grid-based logic; the cited Nintendo listing does not fully establish online support by platform. |
| KeyWe | One or two players who enjoy a playful theme | Single-player or up to two players; local or online co-op | Task-based cooperation in a post-office setting rather than a shared platforming course. |
| Unrailed! | Teams that like frantic coordination and building | Up to four; local and online multiplayer can be mixed | You construct a railway together, managing resources and hazards instead of solving fixed platform puzzles. |
| Heave Ho 2 | Couch-party platforming with an online option | 2–4; local and online co-op and versus play | Momentum, grabbing, and comic recoveries matter more than traditional puzzle logic. |
The player counts in this table are product specifications from the linked official pages, not independent test results. None of the cited sources establishes that every title is available on every major platform or that online play works identically across editions.

What makes a game feel like PICO PARK?
The defining feature is not simply a level full of obstacles. Each player must make a contribution that the group cannot replace easily. One person may hold a switch, another may provide a step, and everyone has to communicate timing before the group can reach the exit. Failure is usually social as much as mechanical: a rushed jump or an unannounced movement can undo a plan that was working.

Use these questions to decide whether a recommendation is genuinely suitable for your group:
- How many people are playing? A game built around two characters can become awkward with four, while a large lobby may leave a quiet player without a meaningful job.
- Are you sharing a screen or connecting remotely? Local, online, and mixed local/online support are separate features. Do not assume that a title offering one also offers the others.
- Do you want logic or physical coordination? Some games ask you to reason through a fixed puzzle; others make the challenge construction, timing, or recovering from chaos.
- Does everyone need the same platform? PICO PARK 2 explicitly advertises cross-platform online play, but the other listings here do not provide a universal cross-play claim.
- Is an online-service subscription required? Nintendo states that Nintendo Switch Online is required for the online features of its listed Switch games where noted below.
PICO PARK 2: the closest direct alternative
Nintendo describes PICO PARK 2 as a 2D action-puzzle game for 2–8 players, playable locally or online. Its online mode supports cross-platform play, and as many as seven players can join online from a single Nintendo Switch. The Steam listing also identifies online co-op, local co-op, shared or split-screen co-op, and cross-platform multiplayer among its features.
That combination makes it the safest recommendation when the group specifically wants the PICO PARK rhythm: enter a room together, discover what the level demands, call out a plan, and repeat the attempt until everyone performs the sequence. It scales better than most alternatives because the design is explicitly built for a large group rather than merely allowing an extra player.

- Groups of more than two who want every person involved in the same puzzle.
- Friends playing on different supported systems, provided the relevant editions and online services allow the connection.
- A household with one Switch that wants to add remote players; Nintendo’s listing says up to seven online players can join from that console.
Important setup qualification
Nintendo says online features require a paid Nintendo Switch Online membership. The requirement applies to Nintendo’s online features, while the exact account, edition, and platform requirements should be checked on the store page for your setup. The Steam page confirms feature categories but does not establish identical requirements or feature parity across every release.

Death Squared: when the puzzle should be the star
Death Squared is the most logic-focused choice in this shortlist. Nintendo lists support for one, two, or four players and characterizes it as a cooperative puzzle game intended for people who can tolerate a little argument while solving together.
Its appeal is the directness of the problem. Instead of relying on a large party’s movement through a platforming space, the group studies hazards, reads the room, and works out which action changes the board without trapping another player. That makes it a strong fit for players who enjoy explaining possibilities, testing a hypothesis, and resetting after a mistake.
Best group profile
- Solo players: The listed one-player option makes it suitable when you want to learn the puzzle structure alone before inviting someone else.
- Two players: Two people can divide observation and execution without the conversation becoming a shouted stream of simultaneous instructions.
- Four players: Four-person sessions can be excellent for groups that enjoy assigning roles, but they demand clear callouts so several people do not trigger hazards at once.
Online-play caveat
The cited Nintendo listing establishes the player-count options but does not fully resolve online support for every platform or edition. Treat it as a confirmed local or platform-specific puzzle choice only after checking the exact listing you plan to buy; do not infer online availability from the player count alone.
KeyWe: a focused two-player co-op game
The official KeyWe FAQ says the game can be played solo or cooperatively by up to two players, either locally or online. That makes it the clearest recommendation for a pair who wants a cooperative activity without a large-party lobby.

- Sleek 7-in-1 USB-C Hub: Features an HDMI port, two USB-A 3.0 ports, and a USB-C data port, each providing 5Gbps transfer speeds. It also includes a USB-C PD input port for charging up to 100W and dual SD and TF card slots, all in a compact design.
- Flawless 4K@60Hz Video with HDMI: Delivers exceptional clarity and smoothness with its 4K@60Hz HDMI port, making it ideal for high-definition presentations and entertainment. (Note: Only the HDMI port supports video projection; the USB-C port is for data transfer only.)
- Double Up on Efficiency: The two USB-A 3.0 ports and a USB-C port support a fast 5Gbps data rate, significantly boosting your transfer speeds and improving productivity.
- Fast and Reliable 85W Charging: Offers high-capacity, speedy charging for laptops up to 85W, so you spend less time tethered to an outlet and more time being productive.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
Rather than presenting a sequence of abstract platforming rooms, KeyWe gives the partners a themed set of postal tasks. The work is designed around dividing attention: one player may operate one part of a process while the other handles another, then both adjust when the timing falls apart. The theme supplies a reason to communicate, while the two-player limit keeps responsibilities legible.
Why it works for pairs
- Each person has a visible job, so one player is less likely to become a passenger.
- The local and online options let you choose between sharing a screen and connecting from separate homes.
- Solo play provides a way to learn the systems before coordinating with a partner.
Buying and edition notes
The FAQ says physical copies are sold through select retailers in some regions. That statement does not guarantee current stock, a particular console edition, or availability in your country. Check the current regional storefront before choosing physical over digital.
Unrailed!: frantic teamwork with a construction objective
Indoor Astronaut’s official Unrailed! page describes local and online multiplayer that can be mixed in the same session, with cooperative teams of up to four players. This is the best choice when the group wants the communication pressure of PICO PARK but prefers an evolving construction task to a fixed platform puzzle.
The team builds railway track while dealing with the immediate needs of the route. Players have to decide who gathers materials, who lays track, who operates tools, and who watches for the next problem. Because local and online players can be combined, a household can share a screen while another teammate joins remotely, subject to the edition and service requirements of the platform being used.

- Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft
How its cooperation differs
- Planning is continuous: You are not merely solving one room; you are keeping a route viable as the situation changes.
- Roles are fluid: A player collecting resources may need to abandon that job to repair a mistake or handle an approaching hazard.
- Communication is practical: Short calls such as who has materials or which direction to build matter more than explaining a static solution.
Choose Unrailed! when your group enjoys urgency, improvisation, and the satisfaction of making a shared system work. Choose PICO PARK 2 or Death Squared instead if you specifically want compact, authored puzzles with a clearer reset-and-retry rhythm.
Heave Ho 2: party-platforming with online play
Nintendo’s Heave Ho 2 listing gives a July 16, 2026 release date and lists single-system play for 2–4 players as well as online play for 2–4. It also says Nintendo Switch Online is required for online features. Devolver Digital describes support for up to four players in online and local co-op and versus play.
Heave Ho 2 belongs on this list because its levels turn cooperation into a physical performance. Players grab, swing, pull, and recover together; a successful crossing often depends on holding another character at exactly the right moment. The result is closer to party-platforming than to a traditional logic puzzle, with failure producing comic chain reactions rather than a quiet deduction.

- Your group wants couch energy and is comfortable with repeated attempts after spectacular mistakes.

- Online play matters, but the intended group fits within four players.
Release and platform qualification
The Nintendo page identifies the Switch 2 listing and the July 16, 2026 release date. Confirm the platform and version shown in your regional store, especially if members of the group own different hardware. The online-service requirement stated by Nintendo applies to Nintendo’s online features.

Choose by group size
| Your group | First choice | Why | Alternative |
|---|---|---|---|
| One player | Death Squared | Nintendo’s listing explicitly includes a one-player mode, letting you work through the logic independently. | KeyWe, whose FAQ also describes single-player play. |
| Two players | KeyWe | Its official FAQ is built around solo or two-player local/online co-op, making the pairing unambiguous. | Death Squared for more deliberate logic, or Heave Ho 2 for physical comedy. |
| Three or four players | PICO PARK 2 | The larger player range and action-puzzle design keep the whole group in one shared challenge. | Unrailed! if you prefer construction and urgency. |
| Five to eight players | PICO PARK 2 | It is the only choice here whose official listing explicitly reaches eight players. | No other game in this shortlist has a confirmed higher player allowance in the cited sources. |
Choose by play mode
For a single couch
Start with PICO PARK 2 if the group wants a shared-screen action puzzle. Death Squared suits a quieter, more analytical session, while Heave Ho 2 is the better fit for physical, laugh-heavy platforming. Check the game’s exact console listing for controller requirements; the cited pages do not establish one universal controller setup.
For fully online play
PICO PARK 2 has the strongest explicit online specification in the sources: Nintendo lists online play, cross-platform support, and the ability to bring in up to seven online players from one Switch. KeyWe’s FAQ confirms local or online co-op for up to two. Nintendo confirms online play for Heave Ho 2 and states that Nintendo Switch Online is required for its Switch online features. For Death Squared, verify online support on the exact platform before purchasing.
For mixed local and online groups
Unrailed! is the clearest match because its developer explicitly says local and online multiplayer can be mixed. PICO PARK 2 can also accommodate a large online group from one Switch, but the precise local/remote arrangement should be checked against the relevant edition and account setup.

- Count the actual players. Include people sharing one console and people joining remotely; a nominal player limit does not describe every local/online arrangement.
- Identify each person’s platform and edition. Cross-platform play is explicitly advertised for PICO PARK 2, but the other cited listings do not make a blanket cross-play claim.
- Check the online-service requirement. Nintendo states that Nintendo Switch Online is needed for the online features of PICO PARK 2’s Switch version and Heave Ho 2’s Switch listing. Requirements on other platforms may differ.
- Confirm the current store page. Platform support, release availability, and physical distribution can change by region and edition.
- Use voice communication for remote groups. These games depend on timing and role assignment; a voice channel reduces the delay between seeing a problem and telling a teammate what to do.
- Agree on a reset rule. Decide whether the group retries immediately after a mistake or pauses to explain the next plan. This prevents one player from restarting while another is still diagnosing the failure.
- Start with a short session. Cooperative puzzles are mentally demanding. A brief first session reveals whether your group prefers deduction, construction, or physical chaos before you commit to a longer game night.
How the recommendations differ from the original PICO PARK
The original PICO PARK Nintendo eShop listing describes a cooperative action-puzzle game for 2–8 players and says its online modes require a paid Nintendo Switch Online membership. It remains the reference point for this category: the team must coordinate movement and use one another to clear a shared level.
PICO PARK 2 is the direct follow-up recommendation because it retains that broad player range and adds the explicitly documented cross-platform online option. Death Squared narrows the focus to logic. KeyWe narrows the party to a pair and wraps cooperation in a task-based theme. Unrailed! turns teamwork into live construction, and Heave Ho 2 emphasizes grabbing and momentum. The right choice depends less on a generic quality ranking than on which type of coordination your group finds rewarding.
Practical decision guide
- Choose PICO PARK 2 when matching the original’s structure is the priority, especially for five or more players or a cross-platform online group.
- Choose Death Squared when your group wants the board itself to be the main intellectual challenge and online support is not assumed.
- Choose KeyWe when exactly one partner is joining and you want confirmed local and online options for that pair.
- Choose Unrailed! when mixed local/online play and fast cooperative construction matter more than platform-puzzle similarity.
- Choose Heave Ho 2 when a four-person group wants local or online party-platforming, plus the option of versus play.
These recommendations deliberately separate confirmed specifications from assumptions. Before buying, open the linked official listing for your region, verify the edition and current online requirement, and make sure the stated player arrangement matches how your group will actually connect.
