There is no single best Minecraft Bedrock server host for everyone. For the simplest private world, Minecraft Realms is the official choice at $3.99 per month for you and two players, or $7.99 per month for you and 10 players. For larger worlds, add-ons, custom files, or more control, a rented Bedrock host is usually better. If you are comfortable managing Linux or Windows, Mojang’s free Bedrock Dedicated Server (BDS) gives you the most control, but you supply the computer, network, maintenance, and security.
This guide separates those three options, compares commonly listed hosts, explains what RAM and renewal pricing really mean, and gives setup and troubleshooting steps for 2026.

Quick answer: which Bedrock hosting option fits you?
| Need | Best fit | Why |
|---|---|---|
| A private world with almost no setup | Minecraft Realms | Official service, automatic management, and predictable pricing. |
| A conventional rented server | A panel-based Bedrock host | Web controls, backups, file access, and selectable RAM tiers without maintaining hardware. |
| Mods, add-ons, and extensive file control | A host with strong Bedrock file and add-on tooling | Useful when you need uploads, configuration access, and room beyond a basic shared world. |
| Maximum control at no software cost | Bedrock Dedicated Server | The BDS download is free, but you provide the machine, internet connection, administration, and protection. |
Host rankings are review-site opinions rather than an official Mojang ranking. Prices quoted for commercial hosts are third-party listings and can change; check the provider’s live renewal price, RAM allocation, location, storage, and Bedrock support before paying.
What “best” means for a Bedrock server
Bedrock hosting is not just a race to the lowest monthly number. Compare the recurring price, not only a first-month promotion, and determine how much RAM you receive for that price. A cheap 1 GB plan can be a poor value if your world has many simultaneous players, large farms, or several add-ons.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Renewal price versus introductory price
Some listings show a discounted first month. For example, one listing for a 1 GB Apex Bedrock tier shows $2.99 for the first month and $3.99 per month thereafter. Nodecraft’s Lite listing shows $4.17 for the first month and $5.96 on renewal. Use the renewal figure when comparing a year of hosting.
RAM is only one part of performance
RAM provides room for the world, entities, caches, and add-ons, but CPU speed, storage, node contention, simulation distance, and server location also affect tick performance. A host that does not clearly state its Bedrock support, CPU policy, backups, or file access is difficult to compare fairly.
Control level
- Realms: easiest management, but fixed player limits and less access to server files.
- Panel hosts: web-based controls, console access, and usually SFTP or file-manager access; the exact tools vary.
- VPS or self-hosted BDS: root or administrator control, but you handle updates, firewall rules, backups, and troubleshooting.

| Provider | What listings emphasize | Published price information | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|---|
| PebbleHost | Low-cost per-gigabyte budget plans | One roundup calls Budget plans the lowest-cost option at $1.00 per GB. | Confirm Bedrock availability, CPU limits, locations, and renewal pricing. |
| Gravel Host | Budget and higher-priced tiers | One review lists $0.90 per GB on Budget and $3.00 per GB on Ultimate; an entry plan is listed at $1.80 per month for 2 GB. | The per-GB figures and entry-plan total should be reconciled on the live pricing page. |
| Apex Hosting | Beginner-friendly panel and guided setup | Listings show $2.99 for the first month and $3.99 recurring for 1 GB, with a listed 4 GB tier at $14.99 per month; another listing gives about $7.49 for 2 GB. | Different roundups report different tiers, so verify the exact plan and renewal amount. |
| Shockbyte | Simple panel hosting for new server owners | Roundups list prices from $3.99 per month, while another lists $2.50 per month for 1 GB. | The conflicting figures may represent different promotions or plans. |
| BisectHosting | Modpack and add-on-oriented tooling | One source cites more than 2,300 modpacks and lists an entry plan at $5.99 per month for 2 GB on shared CPU nodes. | Check whether the exact modpack or add-on is supported on Bedrock and whether CPU is shared. |
| Nodecraft | Tiered plans and a polished control experience | Lite is listed at $4.17 for the first month and $5.96 on renewal; Pro is listed at $9.98 on renewal. | Confirm RAM, player guidance, and whether the quoted prices are monthly. |
| ScalaCube | Value-oriented plans in some roundups | One review claims a permanent free 3 GB tier and a 99.99% uptime SLA. | Those claims were not independently verified against the provider; do not assume the free tier or SLA exists. |
| Sparked Host | Named as another general hosting option | No price was verified in the available listings. | Use the live page to check Bedrock support, RAM, renewal cost, and backups. |
How to read these listings
A per-GB price is not a complete cost comparison. Ask whether the advertised RAM is dedicated or shared, whether storage and backups cost extra, whether the plan is billed monthly or annually, and whether a server location close to your players is available. Also check if the panel can import a Bedrock world, upload behavior packs and resource packs, schedule restarts, and restore backups.
Minecraft Realms: the official low-maintenance choice
Mojang’s official Bedrock Realms page lists two relevant subscriptions:
| Service | Players included | Price listed on the official page | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Realms for Bedrock | You plus two players | $3.99 per month | A small private world with minimal administration. |
| Realms Plus for Bedrock | You plus 10 players | $7.99 per month | A larger friends-and-family group and the Plus content library. |
| Java Edition Realms | You plus 10 players | $7.99 per month | Java Edition only; it is not a Bedrock hosting tier. |
The official page also lists a one-month trial for new Realms subscribers. Subscriptions continue automatically at the then-current monthly price unless cancelled, so check your account’s renewal terms before starting a trial.

When Realms is the better value
- You want to invite friends without configuring ports, firewalls, or a server panel.
- Your group fits the two-player or 10-player cap.
- You value an official service over custom server software and deep file control.
When a rented host is better
- You need more control over world files, behavior packs, resource packs, or server settings.
- You expect a larger or changing player group.
- You need a specific server region, scheduled tasks, or tools that Realms does not expose.
Free Bedrock Dedicated Server: requirements and trade-offs
Mojang distributes Bedrock Dedicated Server at no software charge. The current Minecraft download guidance lists Ubuntu 22.04 LTS or later for Linux. For Windows, it lists Windows 10 version 10.0.15063 or later, or Windows Server 2016 or later. Older Microsoft documentation mentions Ubuntu 18 or later, but the newer Minecraft requirement is the safer standard for a new installation.
What you must provide
- A supported Windows or Linux machine that can stay online whenever players need access.
- Enough CPU, RAM, storage, and network upload capacity for your world and player count.
- A reachable network address, firewall rules, and—if hosted at home—router configuration.
- Operating-system updates, BDS updates, backups, permissions, and monitoring.
Basic BDS installation
- Download the Bedrock Dedicated Server package from Mojang’s official Minecraft download page.
- Create an empty server folder. Extract the ZIP archive into that folder.
- Launch the server with the provided executable on Windows or the supplied command-line file on Linux.
- Read and accept the EULA when prompted, then stop and restart the server so the setting is applied.
- Review
server.propertiesand set the server name, game mode, difficulty, player limit, and other options. - Open the Bedrock server port in the machine firewall and forward it on your router only if players connect from outside your home network.
- Connect locally first. Test an external connection from a separate network before sharing the address.
- Schedule file-level backups of the world directory and test restoring one before relying on it.
Never expose administrative files or remote-shell services to the internet without strong authentication and a firewall policy. A self-hosted server can be cheaper than a subscription, but the value disappears if a hardware failure or misconfiguration destroys the world.
How much RAM and how many players do you need?
No universal RAM-to-player formula is reliable because simulation distance, entity counts, redstone activity, add-ons, and world size change the workload. Start with the smallest tier that leaves measurable headroom, then watch memory use and tick performance while your normal group is online.

| World profile | Practical starting approach | What to monitor |
|---|---|---|
| Two or three players, mostly vanilla | Realms for Bedrock or a 1–2 GB rented plan. | Join latency, crashes, and memory growth after exploration. |
| Several regular players with farms and exploration | A 2–4 GB plan with a nearby location and reliable backups. | Tick delays when players spread out, entity counts, and storage growth. |
| Large group, many add-ons, or heavy behavior packs | A larger plan or a VPS/BDS installation where CPU and file access are clear. | CPU saturation, memory headroom, add-on compatibility, and restart behavior. |
These are starting points, not guarantees. Ask the host for Bedrock-specific player guidance and upgrade rules. A plan that lets you increase RAM without rebuilding the world is safer than one that requires a migration for every upgrade.
Panel host versus VPS or self-hosted BDS
Panel host advantages
- Fast deployment and a browser console.
- Managed networking and a public address without home-router work.
- Built-in world uploads, scheduled restarts, and often automated backups.
- Support staff who can identify common Bedrock configuration problems.
Panel host limitations
- Less control over the operating system and server process.
- Resource limits may be shared or unclear.
- Some plans advertise Java features that do not apply to Bedrock.
- Migration and backup policies vary widely.
VPS or self-hosted advantages
- Root or administrator access and complete control of files and services.
- Freedom to automate backups, monitoring, and updates.
- Potentially better value when you already have administration skills and suitable hardware.
VPS or self-hosted limitations
- You are responsible for security patches, firewalling, uptime, and recovery.
- Network and disk performance depend on the machine and provider.
- Debugging a crash or corrupted world is your job unless you buy support.
Buying checklist for a Bedrock host
- Confirm the edition. The plan must explicitly support Minecraft Bedrock, not only Java Edition.
- Record the renewal price. Ignore the first-month number until you know the recurring monthly total.
- Check the RAM tier. Note whether the advertised amount is guaranteed, burstable, or shared.
- Check CPU and storage. Ask about CPU limits, disk type, storage quota, and world-size limits.
- Check location. Select a region close to most players to reduce latency.
- Check file access. Confirm SFTP or a file manager can upload worlds, behavior packs, and resource packs.
- Check backups. Find out how often backups run, how long they are retained, and whether restores cost extra.
- Check migration. Ensure you can download your complete world and configuration if you leave.
- Check support scope. Ask whether support covers Bedrock server errors or only billing and infrastructure.
- Check cancellation terms. Understand automatic renewal, refunds, suspension, and data-deletion windows.
Common problems and fixes
Players cannot connect
- Verify the server is running and the displayed address and port are correct.
- Confirm the firewall allows the Bedrock port and that a home router forwards it to the correct machine.
- Test from another network; a local test can succeed even when outside connections are blocked.
- Check whether the host has changed the address after a restart or plan migration.
The world lags when players spread out
- Reduce simulation distance and limit unnecessary entities or always-running contraptions.
- Check CPU usage as well as RAM; adding memory will not fix a saturated CPU.
- Move players to a closer server location or upgrade to a plan with clearer CPU allocation.
An add-on fails after upload
- Confirm it is made for the current Bedrock version.
- Upload the behavior pack and resource pack to the correct directories.
- Enable the pack in the world settings and check the server console for dependency errors.
- Restore the previous backup before trying multiple changes at once.
The server stops after an update
- Read the console output and compare the BDS version with the world and add-on versions.
- Take a backup before changing files.
- Remove or update incompatible packs one at a time, then restart and test.
A practical decision framework
Choose Realms if
Your group is small, you want the official managed experience, and fixed player limits and reduced file access are acceptable. At the listed $3.99 or $7.99 monthly prices, it is straightforward to budget.
Choose a panel host if
You want a public server without maintaining hardware, need world and add-on uploads, or expect to adjust RAM as your group grows. Compare recurring cost and Bedrock tooling rather than choosing the lowest headline price.
Best Value
- 5-in-1 Connectivity: Equipped with a 4K HDMI port, a 5 Gbps USB-C data port, two 5 Gbps USB-A ports, and a USB C 100W PD-IN port. Note: The USB C 100W PD-IN port supports only charging and does not support data transfer devices such as headphones or speakers.
- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.
- Transfer Files in Seconds: Move files to and from your laptop at speeds of up to 5 Gbps via the USB-C and USB-A data ports. Note: The USB C 5Gbps Data port does not support video output.
- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
Choose BDS on your own machine or VPS if
You are comfortable with operating-system administration and need root-level control, custom automation, or freedom from a hosting panel. Budget time for security, backups, updates, and recovery—not just the machine or VPS bill.
Bottom line
For most small groups, Minecraft Realms is the clearest starting point: it is official, simple, and listed at $3.99 per month for two players or $7.99 for 10. A rented Bedrock host becomes the better choice when you need larger groups, add-ons, file control, or a selectable region and RAM tier. Self-hosted BDS is the flexible, software-free option for technically confident owners who can operate and secure the server themselves. Whichever route you choose, verify the current renewal price and Bedrock support before purchase, keep independent backups, and leave enough CPU and memory headroom for the way your world actually plays.
