The best Minecraft speedrun seed depends on the route you want to practice and the exact edition and version you’ll play. The Java examples below pair reported village and ruined-portal starts with the Nether and stronghold information available for each; they are leads from published seed lists, not seeds independently tested in-game.
Which seed should you practice?
For Java Edition 26.3, the two MCSeeder entries are the most current-version examples here, with a village and giant ruined portal near spawn. For a Java 1.20.1 route that prioritizes a strong early Nether entry, Minecraft Guides lists a seed with a nearby ruined portal and reported fortress and bastion access. These options are not directly comparable as speedrun results: they target different versions, and no run times or in-game tests are available.
Java Edition 26.3: two village-and-portal starts
MCSeeder says it checked its list with Seeder’s engine on 26 September 2026. Its published coordinates and distances are:
| Seed | Reported Overworld start | Reported stronghold distance |
|---|---|---|
| 103400251147754 | Plains village at X 32, Z 48; giant ruined portal at X 32, Z 32 | 2.3k blocks |
| 1393324449629368 | Desert village 16 blocks from spawn; giant ruined portal 66 blocks away | 1.6k blocks |
These are publisher-reported placements from the MCSeeder Java 26.3 seed list; the list’s engine check is not an independent in-game test. The second seed has the shorter reported stronghold distance, while the first has the listed village and portal at nearby coordinates. Neither fact alone establishes which seed produces a faster run.

MCSeeder describes villages as potential sources of food, beds, and iron. A ruined-portal chest may contain flint and steel or a fire charge, but inspect the portal and chest yourself: the structure may need blocks or an ignition item before it can be used efficiently.
Java Edition 1.20.1: early portal with Nether access
Minecraft Guides lists seed -121635045675913786 for Java 1.20.1. Its guide reports a ruined portal 16 blocks east of spawn and a village 244 blocks southwest. It says a portal built at spawn exits 110 blocks from a Nether fortress and 124 blocks from a bastion; the nearest stronghold is listed 2,134 blocks north.
This is a useful route-planning contrast: the reported Nether structures are close to the portal exit, but the stronghold is not especially near. Those coordinates and distances are claims from the Minecraft Guides Java 1.20.1 list, not independently confirmed results.
How to judge a speedrun seed
A village and ruined portal can make the opening convenient, but they do not tell the whole route. Compare the seed against the category and route you intend to practice:

- The classic UNO card game builds fun on game night with a Minecraft theme.
- UNO Minecraft features a deck and storage tin decorated with graphics from the popular video game.
- Players match colors and numbers to the card on top of the discard pile as in the classic game.
- The Creeper card unique to this deck forces other players to draw 3 cards.
- Makes a great gift for kid, teen, adult and family game nights with 2 to 10 players ages 7 years and older, especially Minecraft and video game fans.
- Edition and exact version: Record whether a seed is for Java or Bedrock and its game version. Structure placement can shift across editions and versions, so load it in the exact version you plan to use.
- Spawn-to-village route: A village may provide food, beds, and iron. Distance and direction matter because a detour can consume time even when the village is useful.
- Portal readiness: Check whether the ruined portal can be completed efficiently and whether its chest has a useful ignition item. “Nearby” does not mean ready to enter the Nether.
- Nether route: Fortress access matters for blaze rods; bastion access can matter for a piglin-bartering route. Compare distances or alignment only when the source publishes them.
- Stronghold route: A long stronghold search can erase an early-game advantage. Consider the reported distance alongside the Nether plan rather than choosing by the spawn alone.
- Practice goal: Choose a seed that lets you repeat the route or skill you want to learn. A convenient opening is not proof of a world-record route.
MC Seed View’s Java 1.21 list says it last verified entries on 20 May 2026 against cubiomes-generated structure positions. Its stated comparison criteria include village distance, portal proximity, blaze-spawner count, stronghold distance, bastion proximity, and fortress-bastion alignment. Treat its specific seed performance statements as that publisher’s claims, not independently confirmed outcomes. See MC Seed View’s Java 1.21 recommendations.
ChunkScan describes its speedrun filter as seeking a village within walking distance and a nearby ruined portal. That is a useful way to find practice candidates, not a guarantee of a record or even a complete route; ChunkScan also warns that structures may shift across versions and editions. Its seed finder and version guidance can help with discovery, but verify any candidate in your own game.

Can you use a chosen seed in a speedrun?
Chosen seeds are for set-seed practice or other categories that permit them; a random-seed run does not let the runner pick the world seed. MCSeeder makes this distinction on its seed-list page. Before submitting a run, check the current rules for the exact edition, category, and leaderboard. The MCBE-Speedrunning rulebook identifies itself as the Bedrock Edition rulebook and lists separate Set Seed and Random Seed rules; it should not be treated as authority for Java eligibility. The Minecraft Wiki speedrun tutorial offers general community context, but its available information is not a substitute for current category rules.

- Match the label: Use the stated edition and game version, not simply the newest version installed.
- Enter the seed and inspect the reported locations: Confirm the village, portal, and any route-critical structures in your own world before timing practice.
- Check the portal’s actual condition: Review missing blocks, the chest, and the work needed to ignite it.
- Map the full route: Consider the Nether structures and the stronghold, not only the Overworld opening.
- Confirm category rules separately: Verify that the category allows a chosen seed before treating practice eligibility as submission eligibility.
No in-game test or speedrun time is established for the seeds above. Published coordinates are starting points for your own verification, not a promise about a particular run or leaderboard result.
