The best Palworld base is the one built around its job. For concentrated ore, start with Ascetic Falls; for coal, compare Desert Backbone and Frozen Dune Cape; for sulfur, look at Mount Obsidian Trail; and for pure quartz, Unthawable Lake leads the cited 1.0 location data. Oil sites need room for extractors and power, while a scenic endgame residence can trade nearby resources for a memorable setting. Treat every coordinate as a scouting lead, not a guaranteed flat, safe building plot.

Choose the base role before choosing the location

A base layout that works for mining can be poor for oil extraction, and a secluded showcase home is not a substitute for a resource outpost. Before placing a Palbox, decide what the site must accomplish. Then compare candidates by the resource they provide, usable building ground, raid exposure, travel convenience and how much space the operation needs.

PalWorld Calc’s 2026-updated 1.0 location data identifies unusually dense clusters for ore, coal, sulfur and pure quartz. These counts make good starting points for scouting, but the data records node coordinates rather than terrain. A high node count does not establish that the whole plot is level, reachable by workers or free of water and cliffs. The in-game terrain and Pal pathing should decide the final Palbox position.

Coal outpost Frozen Dune Cape 11 coal nodes, according to PalWorld Calc’s 2026 update Not established by the node data Not stated Not stated Compare the actual terrain and approach routes against Desert Backbone in your world. When coal is needed and the site is convenient
Sulfur outpost Mount Obsidian Trail Two listed entries with 11 sulfur nodes each, according to PalWorld Calc’s 2026 update Not established by the node data Not stated Not stated Keep the build focused on resource access, storage and practical travel. When sulfur for gunpowder is needed
Quartz and electronics Unthawable Lake 31 pure-quartz nodes, according to PalWorld Calc’s 2026 update Not established by the node data Not stated Not stated Check slopes and water, and leave open routes for miners and hauling. Late game, when pure quartz supports electronics production
Oil farm Sunlit Isle or Oasis Isle Three crude-oil nodes at the strongest listed spots, according to PalWorld Calc’s 2026 update Not established by the node data Not stated Not stated Plan an extractor at each node, steady power, generator space and access for workers. When the oil infrastructure can be supported
Raid-conscious oil site Sakurajima oil farm, (-645, 273) Oil; exact node count not stated in PC Gamer’s description Described as spacious by PC Gamer Lacks natural raid protection, according to PC Gamer Not stated Space is useful, but does not remove the need to plan defense and Palbox placement. When oil is worth the defensive trade-off
Scenic residence World Tree entrance, (-809, 683) No nearby resources reported by PC Gamer Limited flat terrain, according to PC Gamer Not stated Not stated Use it as a home or showcase after production and resource logistics are handled elsewhere. Endgame or a dedicated scenic build
Exposed resource site Land of Absolute Zero peninsula, (141, 416) Resource-rich; specific count not stated by PC Gamer Not stated Frequently raided in PC Gamer’s account Not stated Its resources come with exposure; consider the approach routes and defensive coverage before settling. Only when the resource payoff justifies the exposure

“Not established” is deliberate: PalWorld Calc’s node map does not supply a terrain layer, and the cited location descriptions do not state every fast-travel distance or raid outcome. Do not read a blank in the comparison as proof that a site is safe, flat or inconvenient. Scout the exact area in the current game build.

Build a starter base for convenience, not permanence

Your first base needs to be forgiving to expand and easy to work from. Mobalytics gives an example near Hill of Beginnings at approximately (247, -500), while noting that the first location is not critical. That makes it a practical example rather than a mandatory coordinate: prioritize a place you can reach and navigate over trying to optimize for late-game resource density immediately.

Starter layout sequence

  1. Choose a compact footprint. Walk the intended work area before committing. Prefer ground where the Palbox, storage and early production stations can sit without forcing Pals across awkward elevation changes.
  2. Place the Palbox centrally. Keep the working space around it legible and accessible rather than pushing it to one edge of a decorative compound. Central placement is also a factor PC Gamer identifies in an observed raid-safe ruin-top setup, though that report does not establish a universal raid-proof design.
  3. Group storage with the first workstations. Short, unobstructed paths make the functional core easier to use than a layout in which walls or decorative details divide storage from production.
  4. Add beds, food and repair access around the working core. Keep these supporting functions accessible without allowing them to block the routes between workers, resources, storage and production.
  5. Expand only after the work pattern is clear. Add housing or decoration where it does not interrupt movement through the areas the base actually uses.

A starter site can later serve another purpose, but the 1.0 location data here does not establish an ideal universal first-base coordinate or a precise starter resource package. Avoid treating the first placement as a decision that must solve every later production need.

Plan an ore base around the nodes

For ore, the strongest cited cluster is near Ascetic Falls, with 18 nodes in PalWorld Calc’s 2026 update. Deep Bamboo Thicket is another high-density option at 15 nodes. Node count is the reason to scout these places; it is not a guarantee that every node fits inside a usable base footprint or that miners can reach them reliably.

Ore-base layout

  1. Inspect the cluster on foot. Check the ground around each node for slopes, cliffs, water and obstacles. The node map does not describe those terrain details.
  2. Test Pal access before building around a decorative plan. A route that looks short on the map may still be awkward in the actual terrain. Keep routes open between the Palbox, mining area and storage.
  3. Place the Palbox to serve the working cluster. Favor a position that gives mining Pals direct, unobstructed access to the ore rather than centering the design on a symmetrical building grid.
  4. Ring the active work area with support functions. Put storage, beds, food and repair access close enough to support workers without cutting across their routes to nodes.
  5. Leave the nodes and their approaches clear. Avoid placing decorative walls or other structures where they interfere with miners reaching the deposits.

Ascetic Falls is the first candidate to inspect if maximum cited ore density is the priority; Deep Bamboo Thicket is a meaningful alternative rather than an equivalent count. PalWorld Calc’s 2026-updated location data does not provide coordinates for either ore cluster, so use the named areas as map-search starting points rather than inventing a coordinate.

Keep coal and sulfur outposts focused

Coal and sulfur support different production goals. Coal is useful for refined-ingot production, while sulfur supports gunpowder production. Since these sites are resource outposts, not necessarily full industrial or residential compounds, the layout should make access and use straightforward rather than spending the footprint on elaborate housing.

Coal: Desert Backbone or Frozen Dune Cape

PalWorld Calc lists 11 coal nodes near Desert Backbone and 11 near Frozen Dune Cape in its 2026 update. The counts tie in the cited data; it does not establish that one site has flatter terrain, less exposure or a closer fast-travel point. Scout both against your own route and the buildable space you find.

  • Use a compact operational footprint and keep node access clear.
  • Place storage where workers can reach it without crossing unnecessary walls or elevation changes.
  • Choose between the two locations based on actual in-game terrain and travel convenience, not an unsupported assumption that equal counts mean identical sites.

Sulfur: Mount Obsidian Trail

Mount Obsidian Trail has two listed 11-node sulfur entries in the cited 1.0 data. The sulfur count makes it a strong outpost candidate for gunpowder needs, but the available data does not specify an exact coordinate or terrain advantage. Keep the design functional: prioritize the deposits, storage and access, and confirm that the Palbox position serves the nodes rather than a decorative layout.

Make Unthawable Lake a quartz production site, not a guess

Unthawable Lake stands out in PalWorld Calc’s 2026-updated list with 31 pure-quartz nodes, far ahead of the next listed clusters. Pure quartz supports circuit boards and other electronics, making the location especially relevant once those materials matter to your production chain.

The large count argues for a broad operational plan, not for assuming that the entire cluster occupies a level, unobstructed patch. The map contains node coordinates but no terrain layer. Before settling, inspect the approaches, water and slopes, and determine whether workers can reach the deposits. Leave clear routes for miners and hauling, then fit storage and supporting base functions around the usable working area rather than forcing the terrain into a tight grid.

Treat an oil base as an infrastructure project

Oil sites are less concentrated than the best ore or quartz clusters: crude-oil locations generally group only two or three nodes. PalWorld Calc’s 2026 update lists three-node sites at Sunlit Isle and Oasis Isle. Each node needs its own extractor and steady power, so the base must accommodate machinery and the power supply in addition to the oil points.

Oil-farm planning order

  1. Locate and verify every oil node. Confirm the usable terrain around the actual spots before choosing the Palbox position.
  2. Lay out the extractors first. Each node needs its own extractor, so treat the nodes as fixed points around which the rest of the base must fit.
  3. Reserve generator space and plan steady power. Do not fill the available ground with housing or decoration before accounting for the generators and power-capable workers the installation needs.
  4. Preserve worker and maintenance access. Leave clearance around machinery and routes between extractors, power and the rest of the operational area.
  5. Assess raid exposure as part of the site choice. A large or resource-rich oil site is not automatically defensible; consider its approaches, Palbox placement and how defense coverage will work before building out.

PC Gamer describes the Sakurajima oil farm at (-645, 273) as spacious but lacking natural raid protection. It is useful as a concrete example of the trade-off: room for an oil operation does not itself make the location safe. The cited account does not state the exact oil-node count there, so do not infer one from its description.

Design for raids without assuming a raid-proof blueprint

There is no verified universal raid-proof base layout in the cited material. Raid safety depends on location and setup together: elevation, approach routes, where the Palbox sits and whether defenses cover the vulnerable areas. PC Gamer reports that a ruin-top site became effectively untouchable after the Palbox was centered, while an open peninsula in the Land of Absolute Zero was raided frequently. Those are reported observations, not a guarantee that the same result applies to every base or future game build.

Raid-aware site checks

  • Look at approaches, not just the view from the center. Naturally constrained routes or elevation may affect access, but only if the surrounding ground remains usable for the work the base must do.
  • Choose the Palbox position with both work and defense in mind. PC Gamer’s ruin-top observation makes centering relevant, but it does not define a universal placement rule.
  • Do not confuse open space with protection. The Sakurajima oil farm is described as spacious yet lacking natural raid protection.
  • Price in exposure when choosing a resource-rich site. PC Gamer describes the Land of Absolute Zero peninsula at (141, 416) as resource-rich but exposed and frequently raided.
  • Keep the purpose in view. If an exposed location is valuable for production, plan the defensive layout as part of the build rather than assuming terrain will solve the problem.

Reserve the World Tree entrance for a scenic endgame build

The World Tree entrance at (-809, 683) is a secluded setting for a residence or showcase base, but PC Gamer reports no nearby resources, little wildlife and limited flat terrain. Those trade-offs make it a poor choice for a resource-dependent production base based on the cited observations. It makes more sense once the resource and production logistics that support your play are handled elsewhere, and when scenery is the point of the build.

Limited flat ground also changes the layout problem: work with the available terrain rather than assuming you can fit a large, regular footprint. The source does not provide a guaranteed build plan or raid-safety assessment for this location, so those points still need an in-game check.

Check base and worker caps before planning a multi-base network

A community Palworld 1.0 setup note lists a default cap of four bases and 15 active workers around base level 15. The note labels these figures preliminary and says world settings can raise ceilings. Treat them as planning guidance for the default setup described there, not as fixed limits for every world or as confirmed universal 1.0 values.

That distinction affects layout choices. If your world uses configurable settings, check those settings before deciding how many specialized outposts to establish. If you are playing with defaults, the preliminary cap figures are a reason to give each base a clear role: a starter site, a high-value resource operation, an oil installation or a scenic residence may compete for limited slots and workers. The cited note does not establish a more exact cap progression or the specific settings needed to change it.

If you would rather run your own world and tune its settings, Godlike.Host offers Palworld servers with a config editor in its game panel and up to three free backups a day with restore, which is handy before you rework a base layout.

A practical shortlist by player goal

  • Starting out: Use a convenient, compact site; Mobalytics’ approximate Hill of Beginnings example at (247, -500) is a reference, not a requirement.
  • Maximizing cited ore density: Scout Ascetic Falls first for 18 nodes, with Deep Bamboo Thicket at 15 as an alternative.
  • Stocking coal: Compare the 11-node sites near Desert Backbone and Frozen Dune Cape in person.
  • Getting sulfur: Scout the two 11-node entries at Mount Obsidian Trail.
  • Supporting electronics: Inspect Unthawable Lake for its listed 31 pure-quartz nodes, while checking water and terrain carefully.
  • Building an oil operation: Compare the three-node spots at Sunlit Isle and Oasis Isle and reserve room for one extractor per node, generators and worker access.
  • Prioritizing raid awareness: Evaluate terrain, approaches, Palbox position and defense coverage as one decision; avoid treating any reported site as permanently raid-proof.
  • Building for scenery: Consider the World Tree entrance as a residence or showcase rather than a resource hub.

All location counts above are attributed to PalWorld Calc’s 2026 update; site observations about the starter example and raid or scenic trade-offs are attributed to Mobalytics or PC Gamer as identified. Coordinates and counts narrow the shortlist, but the final decision rests on what is actually buildable and reachable in your current game.
