There is no verified universal “best parts” setup for every aircraft in Ace Combat 8. The right build depends on the sortie’s targets, the aircraft and parts actually available to you, and whether you are playing campaign or online. Bandai Namco’s guidance is to choose for the mission objective and your playstyle, then tailor the aircraft with upgrade parts. This guide gives you a practical way to make that choice without presenting untested combinations as proven builds.
Why there is no reliable best-parts list for every aircraft
Bandai Namco says different missions call for different loadouts and advises players to choose the aircraft that fits the objective and their playstyle. It also says upgrade parts can be combined to tailor a fighter to a mission. Those instructions support role-based recommendations, not one fixed ranking for every aircraft. The official material available does not provide a complete aircraft-by-aircraft list of compatible parts and slot counts, tested combinations, or comparative performance figures. A precise named build should therefore be treated as a documented recommendation only when its aircraft, parts, mission or mode, and version have actually been verified. Without those details, a “best part” claim is not established.
Choose parts by the sortie’s target mix
Official game materials identify dogfights, ground support, and naval strikes as distinct combat contexts. Air-target missions
For a sortie centered on enemy aircraft, start with an aircraft and special weapon suited to the air engagement. Choose parts to address the limitation you actually notice, such as the handling or weapon focus you want from that aircraft. Confirm that the candidate parts fit its available slots rather than assuming every fighter accepts the same setup.
Ground-support missions
When the objective emphasizes targets on the ground, prioritize an aircraft and special weapon that can carry out that role. Select parts around the sortie’s target requirements and your aircraft’s bottleneck; do not assume a part that helps one airframe or mission will be best for another.

Naval strikes and mixed-target sorties
For naval targets or missions that combine target types, check the objective before committing to a specialized setup. If the sortie asks you to handle more than one kind of target, weigh that flexibility against concentrating the build on a single role. The available official guidance establishes that objectives differ; it does not rank specific parts for these cases.
A practical pre-sortie loadout check
- Identify the targets: Decide whether the sortie focuses on air, ground, naval, or mixed targets.
- Choose an available aircraft for that job: Check the sortie’s restrictions as well as the aircraft’s role. A launch-window Tom’s Guide review reports encountering carrier-only missions mid-campaign. That is one reviewer’s experience, not a complete list of restrictions, so keep suitable carrier-capable options available as you progress.
- Verify the actual setup: Check the aircraft’s part slots and the sortie rules in game before relying on a proposed combination. Compatibility and available slots should be confirmed for that aircraft, not inferred from another one.
- Match each part to a reason: Choose parts to support the role or address a specific handling or weapon need, and consider what that choice gives up. A part name alone does not establish that it is optimal.
- Keep a record if you share a build: Include the aircraft, special weapon, parts, mission or target mix, mode, relevant difficulty, game version, and test date. That context lets other players judge whether the setup applies to their sortie.
Campaign and online require separate loadout decisions
Do not assume campaign advice transfers directly to online. Bandai Namco Europe says online aircraft levels improve parameters and unlock aircraft-specific abilities, creating an additional progression and customization layer. Its online overview describes that system; it does not establish that a campaign part combination remains optimal in online play.

In campaign, aircraft unlock through MRP earned in missions, according to the official walkthrough. A launch-window review also describes spending MRP on aircraft, weapons, and upgrades. Early on, build around what you have unlocked and can equip rather than planning around a later aircraft or unverified slot configuration.
What to verify before trusting a named aircraft build
- The exact aircraft and compatible part slots are confirmed in game.
- The special weapon and chosen parts are listed, not just the aircraft name.
- The recommendation specifies campaign or online and identifies the mission or target mix.
- The test version and date are stated so later changes can be distinguished from current results.
- Any claim that one setup is stronger is backed by a documented comparison, rather than assumed from a part’s description or a community post.
These details matter because the available official sources establish mission-specific customization but do not supply a complete, tested best-parts table. Early aircraft-tree guides and community recommendations can offer ideas, but they are not proof of a universal optimum.
