That is the publisher’s reference target, not a guarantee for every system or every scene. Use your display’s native resolution when performance allows; if frame delivery is unstable, lower image quality or rendering scale in small steps and check the result on your own PC.
Recommended PC settings to start with
SEGA lists High, 1080p, and 60 FPS as the recommended target for Sonic X Shadow Generations. Treat this as a starting point for a system that meets or is close to the recommended hardware, rather than a promise that every area will run at 60 FPS. The listing gives target specifications, not results from a controlled performance test. SEGA’s Steam listing
- Graphics quality: Start at High if your PC is near the recommended specifications.
- Output resolution: Use your monitor’s native resolution when performance permits. SEGA’s published target is 1080p.
- Frame-rate goal: Aim for 60 FPS in gameplay, while keeping in mind that some cutscenes may not follow that target.
How your PC compares with SEGA’s requirements
SEGA’s minimum and recommended specifications provide useful context for choosing a starting point. They are not a substitute for testing your own system, and they do not establish how a particular graphics card will perform. The listed targets and components below come from SEGA’s Steam system requirements.
| Requirement | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| SEGA’s stated target | Low, 720p, 30 FPS | High, 1080p, 60 FPS |
| Operating system | Windows 10; 64-bit processor and OS | Windows 10; 64-bit processor and OS |
| Processor | Intel Core i3-2120 or AMD FX-6300 | Intel Core i7-2600 or Ryzen 5 1400 |
| Memory | 8 GB RAM | 12 GB RAM |
| Graphics | GTX 550 Ti 1 GB or Radeon HD 5770 1 GB | GTX 780 3 GB, Radeon RX 470 4 GB, or Intel Arc A310 4 GB |
| Storage | 35.3 GB available | 35.3 GB available |
SEGA also says an AVX-capable CPU and a D3D10-compatible graphics adapter are required to launch the game. Meeting the minimum requirements does not mean the recommended High/1080p/60 target is appropriate for your PC; the publisher associates that target with the recommended specification.

Choosing a resolution
At 1080p
For a 1080p display, match the game’s output resolution to the display and begin at High if your hardware is near SEGA’s recommended specifications. If the frame rate becomes inconsistent, reduce image-quality settings or rendering scale incrementally rather than changing several settings at once. That makes it easier to see whether a change helps.
Above 1080p, including 4K
SEGA’s recommended target is 1080p, while the community-maintained PCGamingWiki entry reports support for 4K output. That feature note does not establish a 4K/60 performance target. If you choose a resolution above 1080p, prioritize stable frame delivery on your own system; reduce image quality or rendering scale if needed. PCGamingWiki’s technical entry

- MSI's 23.8-inch Full HD IPS gaming monitor (1920×1080) delivers a 1500:1 contrast ratio with wide 178°/178° viewing angles — producing deeper blacks, brighter highlights, and accurate colors from virtually any position for gaming and productivity.
- TÜV Rheinland certified Flicker Free and Low Blue Light — eliminating the ~200Hz screen flicker common on standard monitors and reducing harmful blue light exposure to minimize eye strain during extended gaming or work sessions.
- 144Hz high refresh rate delivers ultra-smooth motion and sharper tracking versus standard 60Hz or 75Hz monitors — keeping every frame fluid and responsive for fast-paced FPS, racing, and action games without screen tearing or stuttering.
- MSI's built-in Eye-Q Check provides a vision assessment tool to help optimize display settings for healthier long-term viewing — designed for professionals and students spending extended hours in front of a Full HD IPS screen.
- Tilt-adjustable stand (-5°~20°) for comfortable viewing at any desk setup, with VESA 100×100mm wall mount compatibility for monitor arms, brackets, and multi-monitor arrangements — reducing neck strain during long gaming or work sessions.
A 1080p monitor capable of at least 60 Hz can suit the publisher’s recommended target, but there is no need to replace a display that already supports the resolution and refresh rate you want.
What to change if performance is unstable
- Begin with a stable baseline. If your system is near the recommended specification, start at High and 1080p, then assess gameplay.
- Lower image quality in small increments. Change one available graphics option at a time and check whether frame delivery improves. The available sources do not establish a measured performance cost for any particular setting.
- Adjust rendering scale if necessary. This can reduce the rendered image detail relative to output resolution. PCGamingWiki reports FSR 1 behavior related to rendering scale, including that FSR is forcefully enabled in connection with it; this community-maintained note may vary with game version. Check the current in-game menu rather than assuming a specific FSR toggle or behavior.
- Keep the change that best balances clarity and consistency. Compare output resolution and image clarity, frame-rate stability against the 60 FPS target, visual quality, and how your hardware compares with SEGA’s minimum and recommended specifications. This is a decision framework, not a benchmark ranking.
PCGamingWiki mentions a third-party Hedge Mod Manager route in connection with FSR. Because that involves modifying the game and is not an officially documented setting in the sources here, it is not a standard first troubleshooting step.

Why some scenes may not reach 60 FPS
PCGamingWiki reports that most in-game cutscenes and pre-rendered videos are locked at 30 FPS. That is a community-maintained technical note, not a statement in SEGA’s system requirements. SEGA’s 60 FPS figure is its recommended target; it does not specify a maximum gameplay cap or say that every scene runs at that frame rate. PCGamingWiki · SEGA’s Steam listing

SEGA’s manual says, “For PC, more detailed display settings are available.” Its quality/performance choice describes PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, so do not assume that PC uses the same two-mode selector. The manual does not enumerate every PC setting in the information available here; consult the current in-game display menu for the options in your version. SEGA’s online manual
