In Dragon’s Dogma 2, use Oxcarts to travel along set routes, Ferrystones to teleport to Portcrystals, and the reusable Eternal Ferrystone for repeat teleports. The June 2026 update added the Eternal Ferrystone, new fixed and portable Portcrystals, and Oxcart Stopovers. A Ferrystone is the travel item; a Portcrystal is the destination.
Which fast-travel method should you use?

For a known destination, teleportation is the direct option. Take an Oxcart when its route works for you or you want to use an intermediate stop. Walk when exploring the route matters. For a timed quest, check the deadline and use teleportation if a valid Portcrystal gets you closer.
How Ferrystones and Portcrystals work
A Ferrystone initiates a teleport; a Portcrystal provides the destination. Carrying Ferrystones does not create destinations, and carrying a portable Portcrystal does not let you teleport to it until you place it. Ordinary Ferrystones are consumed on use; the Eternal Ferrystone can be reused. PC Gamer’s report on Capcom’s June 2026 update and the current fast-travel guide describe these mechanics.
Fixed and portable destinations
The current guide lists fixed Portcrystals at Vernworth, Harve Village, Bakbattahl, Melve, Checkpoint Rest Town, and Volcanic Island Camp. Story progress and activation may affect access. Portable Portcrystals can be placed where you expect to return; the June 2026 update also added one as a reward for “Monster Culling.”

How to get the Eternal Ferrystone
- Progress through the early Vernworth story until you can speak with Captain Brant during “Seat of the Sovran.”
- Speak with Brant to receive the Eternal Ferrystone. If “Seat of the Sovran” was already complete when the June 2026 update was installed, the item is placed in your inventory instead.
- Keep the stone in the Arisen’s inventory so it is available for travel.
The update notes, as reproduced by PC Gamer, state: “Added the fast travel item Eternal Ferrystone.”
What changed in the June 2026 update?
- Eternal Ferrystone: Added as a reusable teleport item, obtained through the Brant conversation or placed in the inventory if the relevant quest was already complete when the update was installed.
- Portcrystals: Fixed crystals were added at Melve, Checkpoint Rest Town, and Volcanic Island Camp; a portable crystal was added as a “Monster Culling” reward.
- Oxcarts: Stopovers were added at supported points, Doze Off became available sooner, departure hours were extended from morning through evening, and a mini-map icon was added when an Oxcart is nearby.
- Map use: Ferrystones can now be used from the map by moving the cursor to a Portcrystal.

Set up destinations and use Oxcarts safely
Plan Portcrystal placement
Activate fixed Portcrystals when you encounter them. Place portable crystals near objectives or services you expect to revisit, then reconsider their locations when a quest ends or a newly added fixed crystal makes a placement less useful.
Check an Oxcart route before boarding
Oxcarts serve set routes, and stations in the same settlement may head in different directions. Verify the destination before paying. The longer operating hours and stopovers added in 2026 offer more flexibility, but they do not prevent ambushes or guarantee an uninterrupted ride.

Why can’t I use a Ferrystone?
- Check the destination: You need an active fixed Portcrystal or a portable one that has been placed.
- Check the current situation: Travel may be restricted by your location or story state. Open space and outdoor access may be required, but this is practical guidance rather than a complete rule for every quest or version.
- Check the selected map destination: Since the 2026 update, you can use a Ferrystone from the map by moving the cursor to a Portcrystal.
