Astro Bot is the strongest PlayStation-specific pick from 2024 in this shortlist: it launched on PS5 on September 6 and won Best PS5 Game in the PlayStation Blog’s reader-voted 2024 awards. That is a poll result, not a universal critics’ ranking. The other picks cover expansive role-playing, action, co-op multiplayer, and horror—but “exclusive” needs a date attached. Some games launched on PS5 first and later reached other platforms.
What “PlayStation exclusive” means for 2024 releases
For this guide, “exclusive” means a notable game associated with PlayStation in its 2024 release context, not a guarantee that it can only be played on a PlayStation console today. A game may launch first on PlayStation, remain a console exclusive for a time, or stay PlayStation-only; those are distinct claims. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, for example, launched on PS5 in 2024, but its publisher later listed releases on Steam and the Epic Games Store in January 2025 and further platforms in June 2026. It is more accurate to call it a 2024 PS5 launch than a PS5-only game today.

Sony announced Astro Bot’s PS5 launch for September 6, 2024. In the game, Astro searches for his scattered crew after the PS5 mothership is attacked. For action: Stellar Blade and Rise of the Rōnin
Stellar Blade is an action-focused choice. The US PlayStation Store listing gives its PS5 release date as April 26, 2024. It also appeared among the Best PS5 Game finalists in PlayStation Blog’s awards, with readers recognizing its character, story, visuals, and DualSense use.
Rise of the Rōnin offers another action-oriented option and appeared in the same award coverage, including the Best New Character results. The available award coverage establishes its PlayStation association in 2024, but does not establish its current platform status; check the publisher’s latest listing before calling it an exclusive.

The awards are useful evidence of what that publication’s audience favored across different dimensions, including story, multiplayer, audio, accessibility, and controller use. They are not review scores, sales totals, or proof of universal agreement.
