The best power bank for an ASUS ROG Ally is not necessarily the one with the highest wattage. Choose a model with USB-C Power Delivery capable of at least 65W from one port, including a 20V profile at approximately 3.25A. For most owners, 20,000mAh is the best balance of capacity and portability; ROG Ally X and ROG Xbox Ally X owners may prefer 25,000mAh.

This guide covers the 2023 ROG Ally, 2024 ROG Ally X and 2025 ROG Xbox Ally X. Product prices and stock can change, so confirm the exact output table and current price on the linked official product page before buying.

Quick picks

  • Best overall: UGREEN Nexode 20,000mAh 100W, provided its individual USB-C port lists at least 65W and 20V output.
  • Best for the Ally X: UGREEN Nexode 25,000mAh 165W with built-in cables.
  • Best value with a display: UGREEN Nexode 20,000mAh 130W.
  • Best for multiple devices: UGREEN Nexode 20,000mAh 145W.
  • Best capacity/output compromise: UGREEN 25,000mAh 145W three-port model.

These are specification-based editorial recommendations, not claims of hands-on testing. The decisive detail is each model’s single-port USB-C output—not its maximum combined wattage.

Which ROG Ally do you own?

ASUS supplies the original ROG Ally with a 65W USB-C Power Delivery adapter rated at 20V/3.25A. The 2024 ROG Ally X also ships with a 65W adapter, but its battery is twice the size. The 2025 ROG Xbox Ally X likewise has an 80Wh battery and a 65W USB-C adapter.

Our top five power banks

1. UGREEN Nexode Power Bank, 25,000mAh, 165W with built-in cables

Best for: ROG Ally X owners, travelers and people who also charge a laptop.

UGREEN lists this Nexode model with a 25,000mAh capacity, 165W headline output, two built-in USB-C cables, 90Wh stated energy and 90W recharge capability. Its listed US price was $109.99 when checked on August 16, 2026, although UGREEN promotions may reduce it.

The 90Wh rating makes it a strong capacity match for an 80Wh Ally X. Built-in cables also reduce the chance of forgetting a lead while traveling. However, do not assume that either integrated cable delivers the full 165W. Check the product’s port table to confirm which connection provides at least 65W individually and includes the required 20V profile.

Best fit: Ally X or Xbox Ally X owners who want substantial extra energy and laptop compatibility. Less suitable: original Ally owners seeking the lightest or least expensive option.

2. UGREEN Nexode Power Bank, 20,000mAh, 130W with smart digital display

Best for: everyday carry and buyers who want a battery percentage or wattage display.

This model offers 20,000mAh capacity, 130W total headline output and a smart digital display. UGREEN US listings showed prices of roughly $59.99 to $89.99 depending on the promotion.

  • Detachable Lanyard Cable Features a 100% detachable, universal 4.7" (12cm) USB-C cable that doubles as a durable carry handle. Built 3X tougher with braided nylon—replace the cable anytime to ensure your power bank lasts for years.
  • All-Weekend Energy Core High-capacity 20,000mAh provides 1 full charge for a MacBook Air or over 3 charges for flagship smartphones. Your ultimate off-grid power station to keep you running from Friday to Sunday.
  • TSA-Approved & 3-Year Warranty Travel worldwide with confidence. This airline-safe battery pack features advanced multi-layer protection against overheating. Backed by our industry-leading 3-Year replacement promise for total peace of mind.

Its capacity is a sensible middle ground for the original Ally and remains useful with the Ally X. A display can make it easier to judge whether the bank has enough charge left for a journey, though it should not be treated as a laboratory-grade power meter.

“130W total” does not prove that the Ally receives 65W when another port is connected. Confirm the individual USB-C output and power allocation before purchase.

3. UGREEN Nexode Power Bank, 20,000mAh, 100W

Best for: an Ally-focused setup without paying for extreme output.

A 100W power bank has useful headroom above the Ally’s 65W baseline, while 20,000mAh keeps the size more manageable than larger models. UGREEN US price signals were approximately $57 to $79.99 during the captured listings.

This is the most straightforward type of recommendation for an original Ally: enough nominal capacity for a meaningful extension and enough advertised output to meet the handheld’s stated adapter specification—assuming the relevant USB-C port actually supports at least 65W at 20V.

Check whether the highest-output mode requires a 5A e-marked cable. A 100W-rated USB-C cable is a sensible companion because it provides margin for high-power operation.

4. UGREEN Nexode Power Bank, 20,000mAh, 145W

Best for: users charging the Ally alongside a laptop, tablet or phone.

  • 3 Port Charging with Safe Protection: Equipped with 2 USB A ports and 1 USB C port to charge multiple devices at the same time. Built in protection helps prevent overcharging, overheating, overcurrent, and short circuits for safer daily charging

The 20,000mAh, 145W model is aimed at multi-device users rather than Ally owners who need only one output. UGREEN pages showed a price signal around $149.99, but availability and promotional pricing were inconsistent, including a sold-out signal on one collection page.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The extra output may help when several devices are connected, but only if the detailed port-allocation table leaves at least 65W available to the Ally’s port. For an Ally-only buyer, a cheaper 65W-to-100W model can provide the same relevant handheld capability.

5. UGREEN 25,000mAh, 145W three-port power bank

Best for: Ally X owners carrying a phone, tablet or accessories.

This three-port model combines 25,000mAh capacity with a 145W headline output. UGREEN US pages showed price signals of approximately $64.99 to $109.99 depending on promotion.

It is a useful compromise for Ally X owners who want more capacity than a 20,000mAh bank without moving to a 30,000mAh class. Verify the exact SKU, the USB-C port capable of at least 65W, and whether output falls when multiple ports are active. UGREEN’s similarly named 145W products are easy to confuse.

What the ROG Ally actually needs

Look for 65W USB-C PD and 20V output

Your minimum screening checklist is:

  • USB-C output, not USB-A-only output.
  • USB Power Delivery, preferably explicitly identified as PD 3.0 or later.
  • At least 65W from one USB-C port.
  • A listed 20V profile at approximately 3.25A or greater.
  • No power reduction that drops the selected port below 65W when another port is used.
  • A USB-C cable rated for the intended power.

Inspect the detailed output table rather than trusting “100W,” “145W” or “165W” in the product name. A bank may advertise total output across several ports, or reserve its highest mode for one specific port.

Is 65W enough for 30W Turbo?

ASUS’s 65W adapter is the correct baseline for matching the supplied charging specification. But “30W Turbo” describes the Ally’s performance mode, not the handheld’s total power consumption from the battery.

During demanding gameplay, the APU, display and cooling system consume power while the bank is also losing energy through voltage conversion. Depending on the game, brightness, frame rate, thermals and battery state, the Ally may charge slowly, hold its percentage, or continue to drain more slowly than it would without the bank.

A specification-matched power bank can extend playtime, but it does not guarantee uninterrupted 30W Turbo operation in every game.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

How much extra playtime can you expect?

Power-bank capacity is normally advertised in milliamp-hours at the battery cells’ nominal voltage. Approximate nominal energy is more useful:

  • 20,000mAh × 3.7V ≈ 74Wh
  • 25,000mAh × 3.7V ≈ 92.5Wh

Those figures are not the energy the Ally will receive. USB conversion losses, heat, voltage conversion and the bank’s reserve reduce usable output. Gaming also consumes power while charging is taking place.

In practical terms, a 10,000mAh bank is a compact emergency extension. A 20,000mAh bank is the best general-purpose choice for most owners. A 25,000mAh bank makes more sense for the 80Wh Ally X, long travel days or simultaneous device charging. A 30,000mAh-or-larger model may offer more energy but is less convenient for air travel.

Do not translate the capacity into a promise of “two full charges” or one guaranteed gaming session. The result depends heavily on the game and power mode.

Features that matter beyond wattage

  1. Single-port output: the port used by the Ally must independently meet the requirement.
  2. PD profiles: look specifically for 20V, not just a large wattage number.
  3. Capacity and Wh rating: compare stored energy, while allowing for conversion losses.
  4. Port sharing: determine what happens when a phone or tablet is connected.
  5. Recharge input: a bank that supports faster recharge is more practical between travel stops.
  6. Cable design: built-in cables are convenient but cannot be easily replaced; detachable cables are more flexible.
  7. Display: useful for an approximate remaining-charge reading, but not proof of what the Ally receives.
  8. Protections and support: check thermal and safety protections, warranty terms and return policy.

How to connect a power bank to the Ally

  1. Charge the power bank fully.
  2. Identify its highest-rated individual USB-C output port.
  3. Use a USB-C-to-USB-C cable rated for at least 100W when operating a 65W-or-higher bank.
  4. Connect the bank directly to the Ally before launching a demanding game.
  5. Confirm in Windows or Armoury Crate that external power is recognized.
  6. If charging is intermittent, disconnect other devices from the bank and try another suitable cable.
  7. If the desired performance mode is unavailable, test another USB-C port or a different specification-matched bank.

A direct connection is preferable to routing power through a dock. A dock can add another PD negotiation layer, consume some available power or cause intermittent charging.

Troubleshooting

The Ally repeatedly connects and disconnects

Try a different high-power USB-C cable, use the bank’s primary USB-C output, disconnect other devices and check that both connectors are fully seated. A damaged or under-rated cable can cause negotiation failures.

The battery still drains while gaming

This can be normal under a heavy load. Confirm that the bank is delivering its intended profile, reduce unnecessary display or performance demands if appropriate, and remember that incoming power is not the same as power available to the battery after device and conversion losses.

Turbo mode is unavailable

Check that the bank lists 20V output and at least 65W from the connected port. Try connecting directly rather than through a dock, then test another cable. Do not assume a 100W-plus total rating guarantees that the Ally will recognize every performance mode.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The power bank shuts off

Some banks disable an output when they detect a low or changing load. Make sure the Ally is connected to the bank’s primary output and check whether another device is causing a power-allocation change. Consult the bank’s documentation for low-current or auto-shutoff behavior.

Output falls when another device is connected

That is a port-sharing issue. Read the multi-port output table and keep the Ally on a port that retains at least 65W. If the table does not clearly document this, use the bank with the Ally alone.

The cable becomes hot

Stop using a cable that becomes unusually hot, is damaged or repeatedly disconnects. Replace it with a properly rated, quality USB-C cable rather than assuming the power bank is defective.

Air travel and size

A 20,000mAh bank is approximately 74Wh nominally, while a 25,000mAh bank is approximately 92.5Wh. Both are within commonly used carry-on ranges, but the rated Wh printed on the product and the airline’s current policy control. Carry power banks in cabin baggage, not checked luggage, and verify the rules for your airline and itinerary before traveling.

A 25,000mAh model is not automatically airline-approved, and a larger capacity is not always the better choice. Original Ally owners may prefer 20,000mAh for a shorter extension and lower carry burden; Ally X owners have a stronger reason to accept the extra size.

What to buy by user type

  • Original ROG Ally: choose a 20,000mAh bank in the 65W-to-100W class with verified 20V output.
  • ROG Ally X or Xbox Ally X: choose 20,000mAh for everyday use or 25,000mAh for long days.
  • Lightweight setup: choose a 20,000mAh model with a detachable cable.
  • Ally plus laptop: consider the 130W-to-165W class, but verify single-port output and multi-device allocation.
  • Budget buyer: prioritize explicit 65W single-port and 20V specifications over a higher total-wattage claim.

A 100W-or-higher USB-C cable is a sensible add-on for high-output banks. A 240W cable does not make a lower-rated bank deliver more power. A protective pouch or cable organizer is optional; a USB-C dock is not necessary and can complicate charging.
