If you want a PS5 controller with extra back buttons, offset sticks, modular controls, or a shape that suits competitive play, the right alternative depends on what you are willing to give up. The Nacon Revolution 5 Pro is the clearest documented pick for PS5/PS4/PC use and configurable controls; Razer’s Wolverine V2 Pro targets competitive play with six remappable controls; and the Victrix Pro BFG Reloaded adds swappable modules. None should be assumed to reproduce the DualSense’s haptics and adaptive triggers. Choose by layout, controls, connectivity, and model-specific PS5 feature support—not by price tier alone.
How to choose a PS5 controller alternative
There is no verified all-budget ranking here: the available evidence does not establish a complete market census, current regional prices, or a controlled head-to-head test. Treat the models below as a shortlist, then check current local pricing and retailer stock before buying.
- Layout: Decide whether you prefer PlayStation’s symmetrical sticks or an offset-stick layout. Check the exact model’s shape and button arrangement against your hands and games.
- Extra controls: Compare how many rear or remappable buttons are included, where they sit, and whether trigger stops or alternate trigger modes are useful to you.
- PS5 features: Confirm support for haptic feedback and adaptive triggers model by model. PlayStation licensing or PS5 compatibility alone does not establish that those features work.
- Platforms and connection: Check PS4 or PC support if you will share the controller across systems, and confirm whether it connects by USB, a dedicated wireless dongle, or both.
- Service and practical details: Check wake-from-rest behavior, battery information, replaceable parts, weight, and included accessories on the current regional product page. The available sources do not establish comparable values for all models.

Which controller suits your play style?
For extra controls without switching away from a PlayStation-style layout
Start with the Nacon Revolution 5 Pro if you want four rear shortcut buttons and detailed configuration across PS5, PS4, and PC. Nacon says its advanced configuration app offers more than 60 setting variations. Its compromises are important: it lacks haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, and its vibration feature does not work in PS5 games. Nacon also says a PS5 can only be awakened with a Sony DualSense; the Revolution 5 Pro does not support console wake. Its FAQ says battery life is 10 hours or more depending on settings, so treat that as the manufacturer’s qualified figure rather than a guaranteed runtime. See Nacon’s product and support page for current details.
For competitive play and remappable controls
Razer positions the Wolverine V2 Pro for competitive play. Its documented features include six remappable controls, HyperTrigger functionality, an 8-way microswitch D-pad, interchangeable thumbsticks, and 2.4GHz wireless via a USB-A dongle. Razer calls it an officially PlayStation-licensed PS5 and PC controller; that licensing does not, by itself, mean it has DualSense haptics or adaptive triggers. Check the product details and Razer’s announcement for the connection and control details that matter to you.

The Victrix Pro BFG Reloaded is the shortlist option when modularity matters more than a fixed layout. TechRadar’s 2025 review reports swappable modules, including a six-button fightpad module, plus four remappable rear buttons and adjustable trigger stops. The review also reports wired USB-C and 2.4GHz wireless, and compatibility with PS5, PS4, and PC. Its reviewer describes Hall effect sticks and triggers and says they tested it for a week across PS5 and PC games; those are review findings, not a comparative test against every alternative. Check these details before buying
- For PS5 haptics and adaptive triggers: verify explicit model-specific support if those features are a priority. Nacon clearly states that the Revolution 5 Pro lacks both; Tom’s Guide reports the same for the Raiju V3 Pro. Do not infer support for the Wolverine V2 Pro or Victrix from their PS5 compatibility alone.
- For wireless play: distinguish a dedicated USB dongle from Bluetooth or other wireless methods. Nacon says only its dedicated dongle is supported; the Wolverine V2 Pro uses an included USB-A dongle; TechRadar reports 2.4GHz wireless for the Victrix.
- For PS4 or PC use: confirm that the precise model and the games you play support those platforms. Nacon and Victrix are reported compatible with PS5, PS4, and PC; Razer describes the Wolverine V2 Pro as PS5/PC, while Tom’s Guide reports PS5 and Windows 11 for the Raiju V3 Pro.
- For repair or replacement: Nacon says spare parts are intended to be available through its MyNacon portal, but check current availability there before relying on a replacement part.
- For box contents: verify the current regional product page or retailer listing, especially for modules, cables, dongles, and replacement sticks.
