What’s actually slowing this PC down?

Short answer: the Logitech G923 PlayStation edition is the safest named starting point for a PS5 wheel-and-pedal bundle, while the Thrustmaster T300RS GT Edition is a strong alternative when the specific game lists it. Fanatec offers a more modular route, but PlayStation compatibility belongs to the wheelbase, not automatically to every Fanatec rim.
There is an important correction to the title: Forza Motorsport is not a PS5 game. Its official wheel-support information separates console and PC hardware, and that console list does not establish PS5 support. On PS5, you are primarily checking support for games such as Forza Horizon 5, Gran Turismo 7 and F1 25. Confirm the exact game, PlayStation edition of the hardware and current compatibility list before buying.

Which PS5 racing wheel should you buy?
No current evidence supports naming one wheel the objectively fastest, smoothest or best-value performer. The useful decision is whether a model is supported by your particular PS5 game, whether you are buying the PlayStation SKU, and whether the included hardware suits your setup.
| Wheel or base | What the documented evidence establishes | Best fit | Important limit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Logitech G923 PlayStation edition | PlayStation Direct’s product result identifies a wheel-and-pedal bundle for PS5, PS4 and PC. Logitech’s dynamic compatibility list includes Forza Motorsport (2023) and other racing games. | A straightforward PS5 bundle with wheel and pedals included. | Verify the PlayStation SKU and the game’s current PS5 support. Xbox and PC support do not transfer to PS5. |
| Thrustmaster T300RS GT Edition | Thrustmaster lists selected PS5 games and says PS5 also supports the wheel with the PS4-compatible games shown on its page. Electronic Arts lists T300 for F1 25 on PS5. | Players who want the T300RS platform and a documented game list. | Support is game-specific, not a guarantee for every PS5 title. |
| Fanatec Gran Turismo DD Pro or ClubSport DD+ | Fanatec’s PlayStation Compatibility FAQ identifies these as PlayStation-compatible bases and explains that compatibility is built into selected wheelbases. | Modular setups where you may change rims, pedals or other components. | Do not assume a different base, including a PC/Xbox-oriented model, works on PS5. Check the exact base. |
If you want the least complicated recommendation, start by checking the G923 PlayStation edition. Choose the T300RS GT Edition when its game list matches the titles you play. Choose a Fanatec system only after confirming the exact PlayStation-compatible base and the rest of the components you intend to use.

Forza Motorsport and Forza Horizon 5 are different buying questions
Forza Motorsport is not a PS5 title
The official Forza Motorsport wheel-support page says, “Forza Motorsport natively supports popular racing wheels from Logitech, Thrustmaster and Fanatec.” The same page separates its console and PC hardware lists. A wheel appearing on the PC list is not evidence that it works on a PlayStation 5, and a console entry should not be read as a universal guarantee for every platform.
Because Forza Motorsport has no PS5 version, a PS5 buyer cannot select a wheel specifically to play that game on PS5. Use the game’s supported platform instead: an Xbox or PC setup requires checking the corresponding console or PC list and buying the matching wheel variant. A PlayStation wheel may have the right connector and console licensing for PS5 while still being irrelevant to Forza Motorsport on another platform.
Forza Horizon 5 is the PS5 game in this pair
Forza Horizon 5 launched on PS5 on April 25, 2025. Its PS5 support must be checked independently from Forza Motorsport. A model listed for Forza on Xbox or PC is not automatically supported by the PS5 edition of Forza Horizon 5.

Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Thrustmaster issued a notice for the PS5 launch stating that the T80 and T80 Ferrari 488 GTB Edition would not work in Forza Horizon 5 on PS5 on launch day and would require a future update. That notice establishes launch-day status only; it does not prove whether a later update changed compatibility. Treat those models as unverified until the current game and manufacturer lists say otherwise.
Why wheel compatibility is more complicated than a USB plug
Three separate conditions have to line up:
- Platform: PS5, Xbox or PC support is determined by the console license, firmware and product variant.
- Game: each title chooses which wheel models, button mappings and force-feedback features it recognizes.
- Exact product: a PlayStation edition and an Xbox edition of a similarly named wheel are different buying decisions.
Before paying, open the current support page for the game running on your console and look for the exact model name. Then check the manufacturer listing for that same platform. A manufacturer’s statement that a wheel works with PS4-compatible games can be useful, but it still does not replace the game’s own PS5 information.

Logitech G923 PlayStation edition
What is documented
PlayStation Direct’s product result describes a Logitech G923 Racing Wheel and Pedals bundle compatible with PS5, PS4 and PC. The direct product page returned a 404 when checked, so confirm that a current seller listing uses the PlayStation edition and that the SKU is available before ordering.
Logitech’s game-compatibility list includes Forza Motorsport (2023), along with a range of Forza, F1 and other racing games. That list is dynamic and its platform distinctions matter. The entry confirms that Logitech recognizes the game in its compatibility database; it does not create a PS5 version of Forza Motorsport or prove support for every game on PS5.

Why it suits a first PS5 setup
The G923 is sold as a wheel-and-pedal bundle, so a new buyer does not have to assemble a base, rim and pedal set separately. The practical advantage is simplicity: identify the PlayStation SKU, connect it to the PS5, and then confirm that the game recognizes the wheel.
- Check the box and listing for the PlayStation designation, not an Xbox-only G923 variant.
- Confirm the current contents of the bundle; do not assume a separate shifter or wheel stand is included.
- Review the game’s PS5 wheel list after installation, because support can change with patches.
The available evidence does not establish a comparative performance win over the T300RS GT Edition, and no current price ranking was established. Buy it for verified platform fit and bundle simplicity rather than an unsupported claim that it is the fastest wheel.
Thrustmaster T300RS GT Edition
What is documented
Thrustmaster’s T300RS GT Edition page describes the T300RS family’s quick wheel-changing system and lists selected PS5 games. It also states that PS5 supports the wheel with the PS4-compatible games listed on that page. The page links a mapping download for Gran Turismo 7, which is useful when configuring that title.

- Wireless racing wheel and pedals for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, & Windows 11/10
- Battery life up to 10 hours, with an included 6.6ft Charging Cable allowing for wired play.
- Included wireless receiver plugs directly into your console and offers up to 32ft range
- Securely fasten the wheel to your desk, table, or racing wheel stand with the sturdy clamp
- Officially licensed by Sony
Electronic Arts’ support page for F1 25 lists the T300 among the wheels supported on PS5. That is a concrete example of game-specific confirmation, not a blanket statement that every PS5 racing game supports the T300.
When the T300RS GT Edition makes sense
Choose it when the games you actually play appear on the current Thrustmaster or publisher support lists. The wheel-changing design can also matter if you plan to use a different compatible rim later, but check the exact parts and console support before assuming every accessory will function on PS5.
As with the G923, verify what the current bundle includes. The product name identifies the GT Edition, but seller listings can change, and a separate shifter, stand or cockpit should not be treated as included unless the listing says so.
Fanatec: buy the compatible base first
Compatibility belongs to the wheelbase
Fanatec’s PlayStation Compatibility FAQ identifies the Gran Turismo DD Pro and ClubSport DD+ as PlayStation-compatible bases. It explains that PlayStation compatibility is built into selected bases rather than automatically into the steering-wheel rim. Compatible rims can be paired with an appropriate compatible base, but the base remains the critical check.
How to avoid a costly mismatch
- Choose the exact Fanatec wheelbase model.
- Confirm that model in Fanatec’s current PlayStation compatibility information.
- Check that the rim, pedals, shifter and other accessories are supported by that base and by your game.
- Verify firmware requirements and the game’s PS5 wheel list before completing the setup.
Do not infer PlayStation support from a base’s Xbox or PC compatibility. In particular, do not assume a CSL DD is PlayStation-compatible solely because another Fanatec base is. If a modular setup is more complexity than you want, a complete G923 or T300RS GT bundle is easier to validate.

Support examples for popular PS5 racing games
| Game | What the available documentation says | How to apply it |
|---|---|---|
| Forza Motorsport (2023) | Official support documentation provides separate console and PC lists and includes Logitech G923 on its console list; the PC list includes Thrustmaster T300 RS and Fanatec GT DD. | Use the list for the platform on which you play. It is not a PS5 compatibility list, because the game is not on PS5. |
| Forza Horizon 5 on PS5 | PS5 support is a separate implementation. Thrustmaster’s April 25, 2025 launch notice recorded a launch-day exception for T80 models. | Check the current PS5 game list and any later manufacturer update before buying or reinstalling an older wheel. |
| F1 25 on PS5 | Electronic Arts lists the Thrustmaster T300 among supported PS5 wheels. | Use the publisher’s list for the game version and platform, then configure controls in the game. |
| Gran Turismo 7 | Thrustmaster provides a T300RS mapping download and lists the title among its supported games. | Apply the published mapping and confirm the in-game wheel and force-feedback settings. |
These examples show why a single “best PS5 wheel” list can mislead. The same hardware may be documented for one title and absent from another, even on the same console.
Choose by setup type, not by headline specifications
Choose a complete bundle for a simple start
A bundle such as the G923 PlayStation edition or T300RS GT Edition includes the core wheel and pedals. It is the most practical route when you want to play supported games without researching every component separately.
Choose a modular base for expansion
A Fanatec system is appropriate when you specifically want to select a compatible base, rim and pedals independently. The trade-off is more compatibility checks, more firmware dependencies and a greater chance of buying a component that works on PC or Xbox but not PS5.
Choose based on your game library
Write down the PS5 games you intend to play, then check each game’s current wheel list. If one title is essential, make its support page the deciding authority rather than a general product description.

Buying checklist before you place an order
- Correct console edition: confirm PlayStation branding and the exact model number.
- Exact game support: check the PS5 version of each title, not an Xbox or PC list.
- Bundle contents: verify wheel, pedals, shifter, power supply and mounting hardware individually.
- Mounting: make sure your desk, stand or cockpit can hold the wheel and leave room for the pedals.
- Updates: check current console firmware, wheel firmware and game patches.
- Availability: prices and stock were not established in the available documentation, so verify them at publication or purchase time.
- Return policy: retain packaging until the wheel is recognized and tested in every target game.
Setup procedure on PS5
- Identify the model. Photograph or record the full product name and PlayStation SKU before opening the box.
- Assemble the hardware. Attach the wheel to a stable surface, connect the pedals and connect the required power supply. Add a shifter only if your model and game support it.
- Update before troubleshooting. Use the manufacturer’s current firmware instructions on a supported computer if the wheel requires an update process.
- Connect directly to the PS5. Plug the wheel’s USB cable into the console rather than a passive hub while testing.
- Start the game with the wheel connected. Some games detect supported peripherals during launch.
- Select the wheel profile. Open the game’s controller or wheel settings, choose the detected model or a wheel preset, and assign pedals and buttons.
- Calibrate. Set steering range, pedal dead zones and force-feedback strength in the game. Begin conservatively, then adjust to your preference.
- Test every input. Check steering centering, throttle, brake, clutch if present, paddles and menu buttons before entering a race.
Troubleshooting compatibility failures
The PS5 does not detect the wheel
- Confirm the wheel is the PlayStation version.
- Reconnect the power supply and USB cable, then restart the console with the wheel attached.
- Remove a USB hub or extension from the test path.
- Install the manufacturer’s current firmware where required.
- Test a game that explicitly lists the model before assuming the hardware is defective.
The wheel works in menus but not in a race
Open the game’s controls page and select its wheel preset. A title may accept the wheel for menu navigation while requiring a separate profile for driving inputs. Reassign steering, throttle and brake, then save the profile for the correct game mode.

Force feedback is missing
First establish basic input detection. Then check the game’s force-feedback toggle, strength and damper settings, followed by the wheel’s firmware and power connection. Absence of force feedback in one title does not prove that the wheel lacks the feature; it may indicate a game-specific implementation or unsupported model.
An older wheel is listed inconsistently
Use the newest manufacturer and publisher pages, and note the date of any exception. The T80 launch notice for Forza Horizon 5 on PS5 is a good example: it described launch-day behavior and anticipated a future update, not permanent support status.
Prices, stock and accessories
No current prices or stock levels were established in the available documentation. Treat any price shown by a retailer as time-sensitive and check whether tax, shipping, a stand or a shifter is included. A wheel stand or cockpit can improve stability, but compatibility depends on physical mounting dimensions and was not established for a specific model here; confirm fit before buying.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFinal buying decision
For a conventional PS5 setup, verify the Logitech G923 PlayStation edition first. The Thrustmaster T300RS GT Edition is the alternative when its current game list covers your library, with documented support examples including F1 25 and Gran Turismo 7. For a modular Fanatec build, start with a PlayStation-compatible wheelbase such as the Gran Turismo DD Pro or ClubSport DD+, then validate every rim and accessory.
Most importantly, do not buy a wheel for “Forza Motorsport on PS5”: that game is not available on PS5. Decide instead whether you need a wheel for Forza Horizon 5 on PS5 or for another specific racing game, and let that game’s current support list determine the purchase.
