Released for PS5 on February 29, 2024, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is the second entry in the Final Fantasy VII remake project. PlayStation highlights its large world, fast-paced combat, exploration, and a party whose bonds develop as its members face enemies.
That makes it a natural fit if you want an expansive, cinematic adventure where travelling through the world and following the group are central to the appeal. PlayStation’s editorial material says it can work as a first entry point. Metaphor: ReFantazio: best for fantasy and class-inspired builds
The PlayStation Store lists Metaphor: ReFantazio for PS4 and PS5 as a role-playing game released October 11, 2024. Its story takes place in a fantasy kingdom, and its Archetype powers let players channel and combine abilities associated with different job classes.
It is the pick to consider if a fantasy setting and experimenting with character roles sound more appealing than Persona 3 Reload‘s daily-life structure. The games share a studio lineage, but that alone does not mean they play the same way: their settings and signature build systems differ.

Should Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree count?
It belongs in a broader discussion of PlayStation RPG experiences, but it needs a different label from a new standalone game. Metacritic’s 2024 PlayStation roundup discusses Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree as an expansion to Elden Ring, and names it the site’s Best Overall PlayStation Game of 2024.
