There is no single best setup for every Gran Turismo 7 player. Choose Prioritize Frame Rate if responsive motion matters most, or Prioritize Ray Tracing/Resolution if you prefer visual detail. A 120 Hz mode also depends on your display and PS5 output settings, while HDR needs a compatible screen and the right console setting. These options and their trade-offs are documented in the Gran Turismo 7 Online Manual.
Which graphics priority should you choose?
In GT7, go to Options > Global Options > Display Settings. The two priorities trade responsiveness against visual effects and image quality; neither is universally best.
Prioritize Frame Rate
Choose this for responsive motion. Polyphony Digital says it prioritizes the highest possible frame rate throughout the game, with some demanding effects—including ray tracing—disabled or simplified. When 120 Hz output is active with this priority, GT7’s Display Settings Assistant says rendering resolution is lowered.
Prioritize Ray Tracing/Resolution
Choose this when visual detail is more important than response. Ray tracing is used in replays and 3D scenes, but not in sections where response time matters. The manual also says ray tracing is used during races on PS5 Pro with this priority. At 120 Hz, the manual says resolution is maintained with this graphics priority.

These descriptions are configuration guidance, not a published comparative performance test. GT7’s manual says that at 120 Hz, “the rendering resolution and quality of effects will adjust according to the graphics priority and VRR (variable refresh rate) settings that have been applied.” See the Global Options manual and Display Settings Assistant.
How to enable 120 Hz output
120 Hz requires all parts of the setup to support it: the PS5 output setting, a compatible connected display, and GT7’s own 120 Hz option. The console’s capability alone does not guarantee that the game will output at 120 Hz.

- Haptic feedback - Feel physically responsive feedback to your in-game actions with dual actuators which replace traditional rumble motors. In your hands, these dynamic vibrations can simulate the feeling of everything from environments to the recoil of different weapons. .Operating temperature : 41 °F to 95 °F (5 °C to 35 °C)
- Adaptive triggers - Experience varying levels of force and tension as you interact with your in-game gear and environments. From pulling back an increasingly tight bowstring to hitting the brakes on a speeding car, feel physically connected to your on-screen actions.
- Built-in microphone and headset jack - Chat with friends online using the built-in microphone or by connecting a headset to the 3.5mm jack. Easily switch voice capture on and off at a moment’s notice with the dedicated mute button. Internet and account for PlayStation Network required.

- PS Remote Play requires Remote Play App connected to Wi-Fi, PS4 or PS5 console with the latest system software and compatible game. A PS4 or PS5 console with a wired connection via a LAN cable is recommended. Version 4.0 of the Remote Play App on iOS and iPadOS or version 4.1 on macOS is required for games to be playable with the controller over Bluetooth.
- On PS5, open Settings > Screen and Video > Video Output > 120 Hz Output and set it to Automatic.
- Check the connected HDMI device’s reported capabilities for resolution, HDR, VRR, and 120 Hz in the PS5 video output settings.
- In GT7’s display options, enable the game’s 120 Hz option if your display supports it.
- Choose the graphics priority that fits your preference, bearing in mind that resolution and effects can change with graphics priority and VRR.
At 120 Hz, ray tracing is not used for races or replays. For console-side resolution and display capability guidance, see PlayStation’s PS5 resolution guide; GT7’s rendering behavior is described in its Options manual.
How to set up HDR and calibrate the image
GT7 uses HDR or SDR according to the PS5 system setting and whether the connected television supports HDR. The game’s guide says HDR is used when the display is HDR-capable and the PS5 HDR setting is Always On or On When Supported.

How to tune controller or steering-wheel response
GT7 exposes control settings through the pre-race Quick Menu. Adjust in small increments and compare on track: the manual explains how sensitivity affects response, but does not establish a best numeric preset.

DualSense or other controller
Open Quick Menu > Controller Settings before a race. Steering sensitivity controls how quickly the tires respond to steering input: lower values make response slower and steering smoother; higher values make it faster and more sensitive. You can also change button assignments and vibration options in controller settings. Consult the Controller Settings manual and Basic Controller Functions manual.
Steering wheel
A wheel is optional. For a connected steering controller, GT7 provides calibration and settings for Force Feedback Max. Torque and Force Feedback Sensitivity. The manual names Fanatec Gran Turismo DD Pro and DD Extreme, and Thrustmaster T-GT and T300RS among its wheel options. Follow the in-game calibration and adjust force feedback to your preference rather than assuming one value suits every wheel. See the Controller Settings manual.

What should you show on the race display?
Race Display settings let you manage race information, driver lists, car-name indicators, online driver names, and the best-lap ghost. Choose the information that helps you follow the race or practice; the manual describes these as display controls and does not establish a competitive advantage for a particular layout. See GT7’s Display Settings manual.
