It is not a guaranteed “infinite grenades” loop: PC Gamer describes Booming Business as giving Rafa a chance to spawn a free grenade when he critically hits an enemy. The chance-based effect can add ordnance, but it does not promise a grenade on every critical hit.
Recommended build: Arc-Knives and Booming Business
This route pairs Rafa’s melee-focused Arc-Knives action skill with a critical-hit-triggered chance to generate grenades. PC Gamer’s published Arc-Knives allocation includes the following skills:

That is the allocation reported in PC Gamer’s build guide, not a guarantee that the same ranks or route are optimal at every character level or after every update. Check the live skill descriptions and point limits in-game before copying it. Gearbox adjusted Booming Business in its November 20, 2025 update to prevent grenade spawns when the passive exceeds its intended level cap; do not exceed that cap to chase older behavior.
Choose Dead Man Walking for extended Arc-Knives uptime
Dead Man Walking keeps Arc-Knives active after its ordinary duration is depleted, at the cost of Rafa’s health. The build guide points to overshield from hits and recovery options such as Saldar and Sustainable Energy as ways to help manage the health drain. This is a survival tradeoff, not invulnerability: Rafa can still be put at risk, so pay attention to health and disengage when needed.

How the grenade effect works
PC Gamer describes Booming Business this way: “Whenever Rafa critically hits an enemy, he gains a chance to spawn a free grenade.” The key phrase is “a chance.” The available description does not establish a return percentage, so it is not possible to calculate a dependable grenade-per-hit rate or promise continuous grenade supply. Critical hits create opportunities for the effect; they do not guarantee a return.
How this route compares with a ranged alternative
If you would rather fight with guns than stay close for Arc-Knives, Mobalytics has a creator-authored level 70 generalist Rafa build centered on Peacebreaker Cannons and flexible gun choices. It serves a different playstyle: the Arc-Knives route is built around melee combat and chance-based ordnance generation, while the ranged alternative emphasizes gun damage and weapon flexibility.

The Arc-Knives route is the closer match if grenade generation is your priority. The ranged build is the alternative if you value distance and weapon choice more than building around Booming Business. Neither description establishes that one setup is universally best.
What the Filántropo class-mod route does—and does not—show
Gearbox’s April 30, 2026 version 1.6 notes say Filántropo’s cooldown was decreased, but do not give a revised cooldown value. That confirms a cooldown adjustment, not a specific current timing or a Rafa grenade loop.

Windows Central preview writer Michael Hoglund described chaining a class mod that reset grenades on ability use with an ability modifier that reset the ability on each kill, calling the result an “infinite grenade situation.” Treat that as an account of a preview-era interaction, not proof of a current Rafa setup. It does not establish that the same combination works now or that it applies to this Arc-Knives build.

- November 20, 2025: Gearbox adjusted Booming Business to prevent grenade spawns when the passive is above its intended level cap.
- March 26, 2026: Gearbox said Parting Gift now marks enemies only during the Action Skill, as intended, and Blowout correctly creates corrosive projectiles on critical hits against target dummies.
- April 30, 2026, version 1.6: Gearbox reported a decrease to Filántropo’s cooldown but did not state the new value.
These notes show that relevant mechanics have been adjusted. Verify current skill descriptions, caps, and cooldowns in the live game rather than relying on a pre-patch guide or assuming that an undocumented value is unchanged.
