For a small RLCraft group in 2026, choose a host that supports the official Minecraft 1.12.2 Forge server pack and begin with about 8 GB of RAM. Move toward 12 GB when five players explore actively or your world accumulates heavy entity and chunk activity. Among the candidates with published RLCraft information, CoalHost is the clearest dedicated-RLCraft option, Astroworld Hosting offers an 8 GB starter plan, RoxyCloud is aimed at players in Brazil, and ServerPrism is documented as a one-click community option that needs extra verification.
RLCraft is demanding because world generation, mobs, and mod interactions can stress CPU performance as well as memory. No independent laboratory benchmark or uptime test establishes a single “best” provider, so treat published RAM figures as sizing guidance and verify current pricing, locations, backups, support terms, and availability before ordering.

RLCraft is the Java Edition modpack listed on CurseForge for Minecraft 1.12.2. CurseForge lists RLCraft version 2.9.3 and a matching RLCraft Server Pack 1.12.2; both show a latest release date of June 27, 2023. Your server and every client must use the same pack and compatible Forge files. A host that supports ordinary vanilla Minecraft but cannot run Minecraft 1.12.2 Forge is not suitable, regardless of its headline price.
The practical requirements are broader than a modpack toggle. Confirm that the plan lets you select or upload the official server pack, choose an appropriate Java runtime for that Forge build, set a real memory limit, access server files and logs, and restore a backup. RLCraft worlds can be difficult to recreate after corruption, a failed update, or an accidental deletion.

How much RAM does an RLCraft server need?
There is no universal number. Published guidance ranges from 4–6 GB for a small group to approximately 12 GB for five players, because estimates assume different hardware, view distances, mod activity, and exploration patterns. The safest starting point for a new small-group server is 8 GB with an upgrade path to 12 GB.
| Scenario or source | Published memory guidance | How to use the figure |
|---|---|---|
| FreaksMC estimate for a small group (2026) | 4–6 GB | A lower-bound estimate; leave more headroom if players explore simultaneously. |
| Astroworld Hosting RLCraft listing (2026) | 6–8 GB | Useful for evaluating a starter plan, not a guarantee of performance. |
| Dregora requirement reported by TechYorker (2026) | 8 GB | A practical baseline for a heavily modded 1.12.2-style workload. |
| FindYourMinecraftServer sizing model (2026) | About 12 GB for five players | Closer to a busy five-player world than a lightly used test server. |
| FindYourMinecraftServer sizing model (2026) | 17 GB for ten players; 27 GB for twenty | Planning figures for larger active populations, not measured guarantees. |
These numbers are provider or editorial estimates, not standardized benchmark results. A four-player group that spreads across unexplored terrain may need more memory than six players standing in one base. Chunk-generation bursts, farms, villager areas, mob-heavy structures, and high simulation distances all change the requirement.

Is 8 GB enough for RLCraft?
Often, yes, for a small group when the host gives the server a genuine 8 GB allocation and the CPU is adequate. Treat 8 GB as a starting tier rather than a promise. Watch the console and in-game tick behavior during your busiest activity. If memory remains near the limit, garbage collection becomes frequent, or players see delayed mob and block actions while exploring, move to the next tier before reducing the experience with extreme view or simulation-distance settings.
When should you choose 12 GB or more?
Choose roughly 12 GB when five players regularly explore at the same time, when the world has substantial automation and entities, or when you want room for future players and new regions. The 17 GB and 27 GB figures cited for ten and twenty players are planning references; they should not be interpreted as mandatory allocations for every server of those sizes. CPU speed, storage, and the host’s virtualization policy still determine whether extra memory translates into smoother ticks.
Shortlist: RLCraft hosting candidates with published evidence
| Provider | Published RLCraft details | Best fit | Verify before purchase |
|---|---|---|---|
| CoalHost | A provider guide calls undersizing RAM “the single most common RLCraft hosting mistake.” Its dedicated RLCraft product page targets Minecraft 1.12.2 Forge and was described as verified on a real dedicated server on May 16, 2026. | Players who want a plan explicitly focused on RLCraft and a provider that discusses sizing directly. | Current price, data-center location, backup schedule, restore process, resource limits, and any affiliate terms. |
| Astroworld Hosting | Its modpack listing specifies 6–8 GB for RLCraft with Forge and shows an 8 GB starter plan. | A small group looking for a conventional 8 GB entry point. | Whether the advertised RAM is dedicated to your instance, current CPU allocation, locations, backups, and upgrade pricing. |
| RoxyCloud | Its Brazil-focused page describes preinstalled Forge 1.12.2 RLCraft, 6 GB RAM, multiplayer support, anti-DDoS, and activation in minutes. | Brazilian players who value a regional location and quick initial deployment. | Brazilian currency and tax treatment, actual latency from each player, present availability, backup controls, and whether 6 GB is enough for your group. |
| ServerPrism | A community RLCraft installation guide lists it as a preconfigured, one-click option. | Users prioritizing a guided installation and willing to validate the offer themselves. | The provider’s current product page, supported Forge build, included RAM, hardware, backups, support response, and cancellation terms. The community guide is lower-confidence evidence than a current first-party specification. |

How to choose between the candidates
For two to four friends
Start by comparing 8 GB plans, not the cheapest plan shown in a hosting catalog. Check whether the 8 GB is an actual server allocation or a maximum shared across several services. Give priority to NVMe storage, a strong per-core CPU, automated backups, and a simple upgrade to 12 GB. A one-click installer is useful, but it should not outweigh weak hardware or an unclear restore policy.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →For five active players
Use approximately 12 GB as your planning target if everyone explores, fights, or generates new terrain. Ask each provider what CPU share accompanies that tier. A 12 GB plan on a busy oversubscribed node can perform worse than an 8 GB plan on faster hardware. Request the server’s geographic location and have players test latency from their normal connections during the provider’s refund or trial period, if one is offered.
For a Brazil-based group
RoxyCloud’s cited offer is specifically regional to Brazil and includes preinstalled Forge 1.12.2 RLCraft, 6 GB, multiplayer support, anti-DDoS, and activation in minutes. That makes it a relevant lead for Brazilian players, but the 6 GB allocation is below the roughly 8 GB starting point recommended for a comfortable small-group setup. Confirm whether a larger tier is available and compare latency for every regular player.
For a server expected to grow
Choose the provider with transparent resize controls and a downloadable backup format. Ask whether changing RAM requires a new IP, a migration, or downtime. A plan that can move from 8 GB to 12 GB without rebuilding the world protects the time you invest in exploration and structures.
One-click installation: what it does and what it does not do
A one-click RLCraft installer can create the Forge instance, place the server-pack files, and expose a start button in the control panel. It removes repetitive file handling, but it does not guarantee that the selected pack, Forge build, Java runtime, or memory setting is correct. ServerPrism is cited in a community guide as a preconfigured one-click option; treat that as a convenience claim to verify, not as proof of current compatibility.

After any automated installation, check the actual files and startup log. Confirm that the server reports Minecraft 1.12.2, the expected Forge build, and the RLCraft pack version you intend to use. If the panel silently installs a different pack revision, every player must either change clients or the server must be rebuilt with the matching files.
Manual RLCraft installation procedure
Use the official RLCraft Server Pack 1.12.2 from CurseForge rather than assembling mod files from unrelated downloads. The exact control-panel labels vary, but the sequence below applies to most managed hosts.
- Prepare the client pack. Install RLCraft v2.9.3, or the exact version your group has agreed to, through your normal launcher. Record the version and mod list so every player uses the same files.
- Create the server instance. In the host panel, choose a custom or Forge server and select Minecraft 1.12.2. If the host offers a Forge build selector, use the build specified by the official server pack.
- Upload or select the server pack. Use the host’s file manager, SFTP, or pack importer to place the official RLCraft Server Pack 1.12.2 in the server directory. Do not mix files from a different RLCraft release.
- Select the supported Java runtime. Choose the runtime the host documents for its Minecraft 1.12.2 Forge image. If the panel lists several runtimes, ask support to confirm the compatible choice before starting.
- Set memory deliberately. Set both the minimum and maximum allocation to the purchased tier where the panel permits it, leaving enough resources for the host’s operating environment. For a small group, begin around 8 GB; use about 12 GB for a busy five-player server.
- Accept the EULA. Start once, stop the server, open
eula.txt, and changeeula=falsetoeula=trueonly after reading and accepting Mojang’s terms. Start again and monitor the console for Forge and mod-loading errors. - Check the generated world and logs. Let the server finish its first startup, then inspect the latest log for missing dependencies, wrong Java errors, or a failed Forge launch. Do not invite the whole group until the console reaches a stable running state.
- Connect from one clean client. Use the server address from a client with the matching RLCraft version. Test login, movement, combat, chunk generation, and a controlled server restart.
- Create and test a backup. Run the panel’s backup action, verify that it completes, and perform a test restore to a temporary instance if the host supports one. A backup that cannot be restored is not a recovery plan.
- Invite the group. Share the address only after the version, permissions, whitelist, backup, and restart behavior are confirmed.
Starting the server from a shell
If your host provides shell access, the Forge jar name varies by build. Use the filename shown in the server directory and keep the memory values aligned with your plan:
java -Xms8G -Xmx8G -jar forge-1.12.2-<build>.jar nogui
Replace <build> with the exact jar filename supplied by the server pack. Do not copy a command from another Forge version. Stop the process cleanly from the console before changing files or restoring a backup.
CPU, storage, and network checks that affect performance
CPU allocation
RLCraft’s entity count and world generation make single-core performance important. Ask whether your plan receives a defined CPU share, a dedicated core, or an unspecified portion of a shared node. “Unlimited CPU” wording is less useful than a clear explanation of how throttling works when neighboring instances are busy.

Storage and world growth
NVMe storage is preferable for frequent region saves and rapid exploration. Ask about disk quota, snapshot retention, and what happens when the quota is reached. A full disk can prevent level saves and logs from being written even when RAM and CPU are sufficient.
Location, latency, and protection
Select a data center near most players. Ask for the city or region, not merely the country, and test at the times your group normally plays. DDoS protection can keep a public address reachable during an attack, but it does not fix a poor route or a server that is already CPU-throttled. RoxyCloud’s cited anti-DDoS claim applies to its Brazil offering; confirm the same protection on any other location or plan.
Backups, migration, and day-to-day operations
Before comparing monthly totals, compare what happens when something goes wrong. A useful RLCraft plan should let you:
- Schedule automatic backups at a frequency that matches your play pattern.
- Keep more than one restore point, including an off-node or downloadable copy.
- Download the world and configuration files without opening a support ticket.
- Restore to a prior point without deleting the only current copy.
- Read the server console and logs while the instance is running.
- Change RAM or CPU tiers without rebuilding the world.
- Move the world to another provider if pricing, hardware, or location changes.
Run a manual backup before installing a new mod, changing configuration, updating Forge, or allowing a new player to use administrative permissions. Keep a dated local copy so a provider-side incident does not remove every recovery option.
How to compare price and scaling correctly
Compare the monthly total at the RAM tier you actually need. An inexpensive 2–4 GB headline plan is irrelevant if your group requires 8–12 GB. Add the recurring cost of backups, additional storage, a dedicated address, or increased CPU if those are separate line items. Then check the price of the next tier, because a low starting rate can become expensive when you scale.
Best Value
- CPU: AMD Ryzen7 5700X (up to 4.6GHz) 8-Core 16-Thread to easily handle multi-line tasks
- Main board: MSI B550M-A PRO motherboard provides reliable performance and stability
- GPU: Geforce RTX 5060 8GB GDDR7 Graphics Cards (Brand may vary) Support DLSS 4 multi frame generation, ray tracing, and Reflex 2 delay optimization
- RAM: 32GB DDR4 3200MHz (16GB*2) SSD: 1TB M.2 NVMe PCIe
- Power supply: 650W (80plus bronze) certified for energy efficiency and stable performance
Ask each provider these questions before checkout:
- How much RAM is guaranteed to this instance, and can it burst beyond that limit?
- Which CPU model or per-core allocation accompanies the selected tier?
- Where is the server physically located?
- Are automated backups included, how long are they retained, and can I download them?
- Can I restore a backup myself?
- Does a RAM upgrade preserve the IP address and world files?
- Which Forge build and Java runtime are supported for RLCraft 1.12.2?
- What refund, cancellation, and support-response terms apply?
Troubleshooting common RLCraft hosting failures
The server stops during startup
Read the first error in the console rather than the final shutdown line. A wrong Forge build, incomplete server pack, incompatible Java runtime, or missing dependency can all stop a 1.12.2 instance. Reinstall the exact official server pack, confirm the panel’s Forge selection, and ask support to verify the runtime before increasing RAM.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Players get a mod-list or version mismatch
Compare the client’s RLCraft version, Forge build, and mod files with the server directory. A one-click installer may have selected a different release than the clients use. Standardize on one version, then distribute that same pack to every player.
Chunks load slowly and ticks freeze during exploration
Check CPU usage and single-core throttling as well as memory. Lowering view or simulation distance can reduce immediate load, but persistent pauses during new terrain generation usually justify a faster CPU or a larger plan. If the server is close to its memory limit, move from 8 GB toward 12 GB before adding more players.
The world rolls back or the disk fills
Inspect free disk space and the timestamp of the last successful save. Stop the server cleanly, preserve the current files, and restore the newest known-good backup to a separate instance when possible. Do not overwrite your only copy while investigating corruption.
