Choose RLCraft for a group that wants preparation, danger, and hard-earned competence. Give new players a short rules briefing covering temperature, thirst, hostile-mob behavior, and the server’s death or recovery policy. Loader mismatches are among the easiest ways to create an unbootable server. Fabric and NeoForge are not interchangeable server jars, and a pack built for one Minecraft release should not be silently moved to another.
- Write down the exact Minecraft version and loader shown on the official project or file page.
- Download the server package for that same pack release; do not assemble a “similar” mod list by hand.
- Verify that every client uses the same pack version, loader, and configuration files.
- Start the server once without inviting players so missing dependencies and license prompts can be resolved safely.
- Accept the Minecraft EULA in the server’s configuration only after reading the current terms.
- Create a backup of the empty or test world before changing mods, datapacks, or configuration.
- Open the server log and confirm that the expected loader and pack version appear during startup.
For Prominence II, the evidence-backed combination is Minecraft 1.20.1 with Fabric and release 4.1.3. Do not use a search-result label that says NeoForge 1.21.x when the official file listing says otherwise.

Common failure modes and fixes
The server stops during startup
Check the loader and Minecraft version first, then compare the installed mod set with the pack’s server files. Remove manually added mods and restore the last known-good backup. Players see a missing-mod or registry error
