Nintendo lists the game for release on November 12, 2026, but its product page does not confirm a graphics menu, performance mode, frame-rate target, resolution, or differences between TV and handheld play. Until the released game can be checked, any specific settings recommendation would be speculation.
What settings are confirmed for the Switch 2 version?
Nintendo’s US listing confirms that the game supports TV, tabletop, and handheld modes. Those are play modes, not evidence of separate visual presets or performance profiles. The listing does not specify whether the game has a quality or performance toggle, a frame-rate cap, an HDR option, or different settings for docked and handheld play. Nintendo’s product listing identifies SEGA as publisher and ATLUS as developer.

That means there is no evidence-based preset to recommend now. A trailer, preview, or assumption about how the game might run is not confirmation of the final release’s options or performance.

Is there a performance mode, and what should you use in handheld?
Whether a performance mode exists—and whether handheld play has its own setting—is not established by Nintendo’s listing. The same is true of a recommended setting for TV or tabletop play. Check the released game’s options menu rather than relying on a preset described before launch.
#1 Best Overall
- The next evolution of Nintendo Switch
- One system, three play modes: TV, Tabletop, and Handheld
- Larger, vivid, 7.9” LCD touch screen with support for HDR and up to 120 fps
- Dock that supports 4K when connected to a compatible TV*
- GameChat** lets you voice chat, share your game screen, and connect via video chat as you play
Once the game is available, a useful comparison should identify the software version and test conditions, then assess image clarity, frame-rate consistency, responsiveness, and battery life separately for TV and handheld use. No such comparison result is established in the official sources available now.
Release date, download size, and storage
Nintendo currently lists the Switch 2 edition for November 12, 2026, a future date as of October 13, 2026. Its estimated game file size is 62.1 GB. The listing does not say that a storage card is required; file size alone is not proof that extra storage is necessary.

If you do expand Switch 2 storage, Nintendo’s specifications say the console accepts microSD Express cards only. Nintendo also gives a console-level battery-life estimate of approximately 2–6.5 hours, depending on the games played; that is not a battery estimate for Metaphor: ReFantazio. See Nintendo’s Switch 2 specifications.
What to verify after release
- Which graphics and performance options are present in the released game and what each one changes.
- Whether TV, tabletop, and handheld modes differ in image quality, frame consistency, or responsiveness.
- How much battery life the game uses in handheld play under clearly stated conditions.
- Which software version was tested, so recommendations reflect the build readers are playing.
SEGA announced the Switch 2 version on June 10, 2026. That announcement confirms the edition, but it does not establish a settings recommendation or final-build performance result: SEGA’s announcement.
