There is no independently tested, universal “best” Soulmask host in 2026. The right choice depends on your peak concurrent players, required RAM, server location, Workshop or map support, backup controls and the full renewal price. Nitrado offers a clearly published range of slot counts and rental periods, while GTXGaming publishes broader transfer, backup, location and mod-support claims. Treat both as starting points, confirm the current panel and checkout terms, and compare equivalent resources before paying.

What to compare before choosing a Soulmask host

Managed Soulmask hosting rents you a preconfigured game server instead of requiring you to maintain a Windows machine, network port, operating-system updates and save files yourself. The host normally supplies a control panel for starting or stopping the server, changing settings, uploading a world and reviewing resource usage. You still remain responsible for deciding who can join, which mods or maps to run and when to restore a backup.

Compare these items in this order:

  • Peak simultaneous players: buy for the number online at the same time, not the number of people in your Discord, tribe or community.
  • Memory and upgrade path: require a stated RAM allocation or an unambiguous resource model. Do not treat a third-party “12 GB minimum” claim as an official Soulmask requirement.
  • Location: choose a datacenter close to most players. A worldwide location list is not proof of a particular ping.
  • Backups and restoration: check frequency, retention, off-site storage and whether you can download or restore a world without opening a support ticket.
  • Control-panel access: look for configuration editing, file access, scheduled tasks, logs, restarts and world upload.
  • Current game support: confirm the target map, DLC, Workshop mods and mod-update behavior for the current game build.
  • Total cost: compare currency, tax, billing period, renewal amount, included resources and cancellation rules—not just the headline monthly number.

Which host fits which buyer?

Nitrado: a straightforward menu of slots and rental periods

Nitrado’s offer page displays a 14-slot plan at $4.99 for three days and $19.49 for 30 days, plus a 20-slot option at $24.99 per 30 days. Its custom configuration shows 14–50 slots and rental periods from three to 365 days. The page lists European, North American, Asian and Australian locations, and advertises automated or daily backups, DDoS protection, a web interface and configuration/FTP access.

Those figures and features were visible on the offer page on 13 October 2026 and can change. Confirm the exact region, tax, renewal amount and memory allocation at checkout. The slot menu is useful when you already know your peak player count and want a short trial or a longer prepaid term.

#1 Best Overall

Nitrado’s FAQ identifies Soulmask as a PC (Steam) game and says Xbox and PlayStation versions have no confirmed release date. The same FAQ says no mods are available. That statement conflicts with the current Steam listing’s Workshop and Soulmask Modkits language and with a GTXGaming guide updated 8 October 2026 that describes Workshop mods. Do not assume Nitrado supports Workshop installation: ask support or inspect the current Soulmask panel before ordering if mods are essential.

GTXGaming: more published transfer, backup and mod controls

GTXGaming advertises worldwide datacenters, off-site and scheduled backups, DDoS protection, 24-hour support, world upload, upgrades and support for all maps, mods and DLCs. Its feature page says it operates more than 200 Soulmask servers; that is a provider-published count, not an independently measured market statistic or performance test.

The product page shows an update date of 13 January 2025. For Workshop, clusters, slots, RAM, prices and locations, use the provider’s separate guide updated 8 October 2026, then verify the live panel. A published feature does not establish how a busy or heavily modded world performs, so ask for the exact RAM ceiling, CPU/resource model, upgrade price and restoration workflow.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

GTXGaming’s save-transfer documentation is particularly practical for groups moving an existing world. It identifies the world file as world.db and the gameplay-settings file as GameXishu_#.json; after upload, the settings file is renamed GameXishu.json. The guide warns: “Before making any changes to your server’s save data, it’s important to stop the Soulmask server to prevent any conflicts or data corruption.” Its directory examples may be specific to GTXGaming, so use them as a migration reference rather than a universal path.

Other prices in the October 2026 comparison

A secondary comparison checked regular list prices from a US connection on 10 October 2026. It did not create a matched performance benchmark, and it did not establish that every provider included the same support scope, memory or backup policy.

Provider Displayed example What the snapshot says How to interpret it
GTXGaming $15.21/month for 10 slots; $22.81 for 20; $39.29 for 40 Up to 10 GB RAM per plan, according to the comparison Confirm the actual allocation, CPU model, storage, location and renewal total.
GPORTAL $15.59/month for 10 slots; $22.91 for 20 The comparison lists prices only Request written confirmation of RAM, backups, Workshop behavior and map/DLC support.
4Netplayers $13.76/month for 10 slots; $18.59 for 16 Taxes included according to the comparison Check whether the tax treatment and included resources remain the same for your country.

These are dated leads, not live quotations. Recheck every host’s own checkout page for country, currency, tax, billing term, renewal price, storage, backups, cancellation and upgrade costs.

How many Soulmask slots do you need?

Use the highest number of players who will be connected at one time. Ten people who rotate through a community over a week still need only a 10-slot server if no more than four are ever online together; a 40-person community may need 20 slots if a raid night regularly reaches 20 concurrent players.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Ask the provider what “slots” means. Some panels describe reserved player connections, while others expose a game setting that may not map exactly to billing. Leave headroom for events and late joiners instead of running at the hard limit. Recheck the limit after changing maps, adding mods or creating a cluster.

RAM, CPU and storage: what is actually established?

Do not confuse client requirements with server requirements

Steam lists these client-PC minimums for Soulmask:

Component Minimum Recommended
Operating system Windows 10 64-bit Windows 10/11
Processor Intel Core i5-8400 or AMD Ryzen 3 3300X Intel Core i7-9700 or AMD Ryzen 7 3700X
Memory 16 GB RAM 24 GB RAM
Graphics GTX 970 4 GB or RX 580 4 GB RTX 3060 or AMD 6700XT
DirectX DirectX 12
Storage 25 GB; SSD preferred at minimum and highly recommended at recommended settings
Network Broadband internet connection

Those numbers describe the computer running the game client, not a dedicated server. No authoritative dedicated-server RAM baseline is established here. Select a host that states included memory, lets you monitor actual use and offers a documented upgrade. Larger worlds, more simultaneous players, mods and clusters can increase resource demand; check usage after launch rather than relying on a universal threshold.

Questions to ask about resources

  • Is the advertised RAM dedicated, burstable or shared?
  • What CPU generation and thread allocation does the plan use?
  • Is storage SSD or NVMe, and is the save included in backup storage?
  • Can you increase RAM or CPU without changing the world or IP address?
  • Are extra maps, clusters, scheduled restarts or large log files charged separately?

Platform, Workshop and mod compatibility

The current Steam listing describes Soulmask for PC and includes Steam Workshop support and Soulmask Modkits. Console ports remain unconfirmed; Nitrado’s FAQ states, “There is no confirmed release date for these versions.” Plan a PC/Steam server unless a provider publishes a current console launch and hosting workflow.

Provider information is inconsistent. Nitrado’s FAQ says no mods are available, while the Steam listing and GTXGaming’s 8 October 2026 guide indicate Workshop or mod-kit support. Before purchase, get a provider-specific answer to all of these:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Can the panel install and update Workshop items for the current Soulmask build?
  2. Can you upload a mod manually if a Workshop item is unavailable?
  3. What happens when a mod updates or is removed?
  4. Can you roll back the world and mod list independently?
  5. Are the map and DLC you intend to use supported on the selected location and plan?

Do not infer support from another host’s documentation. A feature advertised by one provider does not prove that a different provider exposes it.

Location and latency

Pick the datacenter nearest the majority of your players, not necessarily the country where the server owner lives. A European location may suit a mostly European group; a North American location may be better for a North American group. Mixed-region communities may need to choose the location that minimizes latency for the largest or most active subgroup.

“Worldwide” or a long location list does not provide a measured ping. Ask whether the exact location is available for the Soulmask plan, then test from representative player networks during your trial period. Compare evening latency and packet loss, not only a daytime speed test. If the host cannot move your world between locations, confirm the migration process before committing to a long prepaid term.

Backups, restores and moving an existing world

What a usable backup policy includes

  • Automatic frequency and retention period stated in writing.
  • Off-site or separate-storage copies so a damaged server disk does not destroy every backup.
  • One-click restore or a clearly documented support procedure.
  • Download access for an independent copy of world.db and configuration files.
  • A way to verify the timestamp and contents of a backup before a major mod or map change.

Safe save replacement workflow

Use this sequence when transferring a world; menu names vary by host.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Make a fresh backup and download a copy of the current world if the panel allows it.
  2. Stop the Soulmask server completely. Do not overwrite save files while the process is running.
  3. Upload the replacement world and settings files through the panel’s file manager or approved transfer method.
  4. For the GTXGaming layout, identify the world as world.db and the settings file as GameXishu_#.json; after upload, use the documented GameXishu.json name.
  5. Check ownership, permissions and the target invite-code directory. A path shown in a provider guide may not apply to another host.
  6. Start the server, join with one administrator and verify the map, player inventories, settings and mod list before inviting everyone.
  7. Keep the original backup until the new world has been tested through a normal restart.

On Windows, the guide gives this default local save path: %LOCALAPPDATA%WS[SteamID]2646460AutoGames[InviteCode]. The bracketed values are identifiers from that installation, not literal directory names to copy unchanged. Use the provider’s target path for the hosted server.

Editing Soulmask server settings

Most managed panels expose a configuration editor, a file manager or both. Stop the server before replacing a settings file, then make one change at a time and retain a backup. GTXGaming’s documentation identifies GameXishu_#.json as the gameplay-settings file and says it becomes GameXishu.json after upload. Other providers may use a different directory or filename.

  1. Open the host panel and select the Soulmask instance.
  2. Stop the server and wait until the status confirms it is offline.
  3. Use the configuration editor for supported fields, or download the file before editing it locally.
  4. Validate JSON punctuation and encoding; a missing brace or altered filename can prevent startup.
  5. Upload the file to the provider’s documented location, replacing the old copy only after a backup exists.
  6. Start the server and inspect the console log for errors.
  7. Test the setting with an administrator account, then record the working file as your known-good version.

Understanding the real price

A low first-month number can conceal a higher renewal, tax, short billing term or lower resource allocation. Normalize each offer to the same period and resource set:

Cost item What to verify
Billing term Three days, 30 days, quarterly or annual; a short rental is not directly comparable with a monthly renewal.
Currency and tax Country, VAT or sales tax, payment-conversion fees and whether tax is already included.
Renewal The recurring amount after any introductory display or prepaid period.
Resources RAM, CPU share, storage, backup quota, slots and any cluster or mod surcharge.
Changes and cancellation Upgrade price, prorating, refund policy, notice period and whether the world can be exported.

For example, Nitrado’s displayed $4.99 price is for three days at 14 slots, while its displayed $19.49 price is for 30 days at 14 slots. They are not interchangeable monthly prices. The October comparison’s figures for GTXGaming, GPORTAL and 4Netplayers were US list-price snapshots, not quotes for every country or a benchmark of equal plans.

Purchase checklist

  • Write down your expected peak concurrent players and an event-night maximum.
  • Choose a location based on where those players live.
  • Obtain the included RAM, CPU model or resource policy in writing.
  • Confirm the map, DLC, Workshop and mod-update behavior for the current build.
  • Ask how to create, download and restore a backup.
  • Confirm whether world migration preserves the IP, files and settings.
  • Check the control panel for FTP or file access, logs, scheduled restarts and configuration editing.
  • Calculate the tax-inclusive renewal total and cancellation terms.
  • Start with a short term when latency or mod compatibility is uncertain.
  • After launch, monitor memory, restarts, save duration and player reports before adding more slots or mods.

Common problems and fixes

The server will not start after a settings change

Stop the server, restore the last known-good file, check JSON syntax and confirm the filename and directory. Make one change at a time so the failing value is identifiable.

Players report lag despite an available slot

Check their distance from the datacenter, evening packet loss, server memory and CPU usage. A larger slot limit does not automatically provide more processing capacity. Ask the host whether the plan can be upgraded without rebuilding the world.

A Workshop mod is missing or causes a loop

Confirm that the provider supports the current Workshop workflow, then compare the server’s mod list with each client’s list and versions. Remove the newest change, restore a backup and test after a clean restart. Do not assume a mod claim on one provider applies elsewhere.

A transferred world loads as new

Stop the server, verify that world.db is in the provider’s actual save directory, check the invite-code or instance identifier and confirm the settings filename. Keep the original files until the transferred world has been opened and tested.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The checkout total is higher than the advertised price

Review tax, currency conversion, billing duration, renewal terms and optional backups or support packages. Compare the final total for the same number of slots, memory, location and backup policy.

Bottom line

Use Nitrado when its current slot menu, locations, backups and control-panel access match your group and you do not need unconfirmed Workshop support. Investigate GTXGaming when documented world transfer, scheduled or off-site backups, location choice, upgrades or published mod and map claims matter, while confirming the live RAM and Workshop behavior. For any provider, choose by peak players and disclosed resources, validate latency and restore procedures, and treat every dated price as a quote to recheck rather than a permanent guarantee.
