If you want a Star Wars game with a real solo narrative, start with STAR WARS Jedi: Fallen Order for a focused Jedi adventure. Continue with Jedi: Survivor if you want the next chapter; choose Star Wars Outlaws for an open-world scoundrel story, or Star Wars Zero Company for turn-based squad tactics. Star Wars: Squadrons offers a starfighter campaign, while Battlefront II includes a story campaign alongside a substantial multiplayer offering.
There is no objective “best” for every player: the right pick depends on whether you want lightsaber action, open-world exploration, tactical planning, or space combat—and whether multiplayer is part of the package you want.

Which Star Wars story game should you choose?
For a focused Jedi adventure: Jedi: Fallen Order
Choose Fallen Order if you want a contained, character-led journey built around being a Jedi. Cal Kestis’s story begins after Order 66, making this the clearest entry point among the games here. EA explicitly describes it as narratively driven and single-player, and PlayStation’s US listing specifies one player and offline play. Store availability and editions vary by market and platform, so check the listing for the copy you intend to buy.
For the next chapter: Jedi: Survivor
Survivor follows Cal five years later. EA says it can be played on its own, so the first game is not a strict prerequisite; playing Fallen Order first is still the better choice if you want the character and story progression in sequence. EA lists five selectable difficulty levels, useful if you want to tune the challenge. Its buy page lists PC, PlayStation 5 and 4, and Xbox Series X|S and One, but local storefront availability can differ. Check EA’s platform and buy information.
#1 Best Overall
- The following games are included in the cartridge: STAR WARS Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy (3.6 GB)
- STAR WARS Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast (1.1 GB)
- STAR WARS Episode I Racer (254 MB)
- STAR WARS Republic Commando (2.5 GB)
- STAR WARS: The Force Unleashed (3.4 GB)
For an open-world scoundrel story: Star Wars Outlaws
Pick Outlaws if you would rather explore the underworld than play a Jedi. Its single-player open-world adventure follows a scoundrel in the period between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. That distinct protagonist and format make it the strongest fit here for players who want a Star Wars story outside the Jedi-action mold.
For planning and squad combat: Star Wars Zero Company
Zero Company is the tactics choice: its story-driven, single-player campaign is set during the twilight of the Clone Wars and emphasizes turn-based squad combat. Choose it if you prefer considering positions and moves over real-time lightsaber or blaster action. Availability is reported for 2026 on PC and current-generation consoles; confirm current local listings before choosing a platform.
Rank #2
- Standard Edition for PlayStation 5 (disc) includes the full Star Wars Zero Company game. Single-player turn-based tactics set in the twilight of the Clone Wars—lead Hawks and Zero Company in an intense campaign.
- Build your squad from clone troopers, scoundrels, astromechs and even a Jedi—combine abilities and gear in deep Tactical-Strategy combat.
- Plan at your base, adapt on dynamic battlefields and make decisions that shape missions and replayability in this cinematic Star Wars story.
- Customise Hawks and your operatives, tailor loadouts and unlock powerful squad synergies designed for Strategy, Turn-Based and Sci-Fi fans.
For a starfighter campaign: Star Wars: Squadrons
Squadrons centers on piloting and space combat, with a solo story set near the end of the Galactic Civil War. It also has multiplayer modes, so it fits players looking specifically for a flight campaign, not those seeking a package limited to solo play.
For a campaign plus multiplayer: Star Wars Battlefront II
Battlefront II contains a single-player story that EA says spans 30 years and all three cinematic eras. EA’s description also highlights large multiplayer battles, so treat it as a campaign-containing game rather than a solo-focused recommendation.

What to check before buying
- Confirm platform and territory. Store listings, editions, prices, and physical stock vary by market. The cited PlayStation page is for the US; it is not a guarantee of availability or price elsewhere.
- Separate a campaign from a solo-focused package. Squadrons and Battlefront II have story campaigns but also multiplayer modes or battles; the other recommendations above are described as single-player games.
- Do not assume a remake is available. The official Knights of the Old Republic page surfaced remake material but does not establish a current release status for that remake. This guide therefore does not present it as an available game.
