For creature storage, start with Dino Storage v3; for automated resource handling, add CS Auto Storage; for larger stacks, choose a stacking mod. Dino Depot, Super Cryo Storage and Pelayori’s Cryo Storage are alternatives when their specific sorting, search or access features fit your server. ARK: Survival Ascended (ASA) mods are distributed through CurseForge, and self-hosted servers install them with numeric project IDs in the -mods= launch parameter. Because IDs, versions and compatibility can change, verify every project on its current CurseForge page before changing a live server.

What kind of storage does your ASA server need?

“Storage mod” describes two different jobs in ASA. Creature-storage mods replace or extend cryopod-style handling for tames. Item-storage mods sort, stack or hold resources. A third group improves the base used to reach or organize storage but is not itself a storage system.

  • Creature storage: Dino Storage, Dino Depot, Super Cryo Storage and Pelayori’s Cryo Storage address cryopod problems, tame-count pressure and searching for stored animals.
  • Item and resource storage: CS Auto Storage, stacking mods and Big Storage Box target materials, crafted items and container capacity.
  • Storage-adjacent utilities: Structures Plus (S+) and Awesome Teleporters! can make a storage-heavy base easier to build or access, but neither is a direct replacement for a creature or item-storage mod.

No published statistic establishes that any one storage mod is the fastest, most popular or safest for every server. The recommendations below come from community and hosting guides, and several project IDs are reported in search summaries rather than verified project pages. Treat the IDs as checks to perform, not permanent constants.

Best creature-storage mods

Creature storage is the main reason players search for ASA storage mods. The choices below are not interchangeable: one may emphasize tame-count relief, another search and production information, and another a more familiar cryopod workflow.

#1 Best Overall
ARK: Survival Evolved Pins - Dodo
  • Official ARK: Survival Evolved licensed merchandise, featuring the Dodo sculpted in textured iron
  • Compact pin measuring about 1.6 in (4 cm) across and 0.5 in (1.2 cm) thick - light enough for caps, denim and tote bags
  • Raised, textured surface gives the design real depth instead of a flat printed look
  • Made in Japan - the pin back attaches securely and sits flat without dragging the fabric down
  • A gift for ARK players, survival game fans, and dinosaur enthusiasts

Dino Storage v2/v3: the broadest starting point

Dino Storage is the most frequently cited creature-storage choice in 2026 community guides. Those guides describe creatures being stored as “soul balls,” with stored dinos no longer actively simulated. They also report that storing a creature reduces the server’s active tame count. That combination is useful on a breeding or trading server where many tames otherwise remain loaded around a base.

A separate community list identifies the ASA entry as Dino Storage v3 and shows project ID 927085. The ID and the distinction between v2 and v3 are not verified against a current CurseForge page, so check the project listing and its supported ASA version before using either in a production cluster. Do not assume that a v2 configuration, save, or load order is automatically appropriate for v3.

  • Best fit: servers that need general-purpose creature storage and want to reduce the number of tames actively simulated.
  • Reported strengths: soul-ball storage and a lower active tame count.
  • Check first: whether the current project is v2 or v3, its server-side requirements, and whether all connected players are running a compatible client build.

Dino Depot: search and newborn automation

Dino Depot is a newer option listed with project ID 942024 in one community guide. The same description attributes several convenience features to it: Dinoballs with stat tooltips, automatic capture of newborns, passive-production tracking and search across stored creatures. Those details have low-confidence attribution, so confirm each feature in the current project description rather than planning a server economy around it.

The mod is a strong candidate when administrators need to find a particular breeder, inspect stored statistics or keep newborn handling organized. If your server only needs basic cryopod replacement, its additional systems may add configuration and testing work without solving a problem you actually have.

  • Best fit: breeding operations, creature libraries and servers where search or production information matters.
  • Reported strengths: stat tooltips, newborn auto-capture, passive-production tracking and creature search.
  • Check first: which features are enabled by default, how newborn capture interacts with breeding rules, and whether the listed ID is still current.

Super Cryo Storage: expanded cryopod organization

Super Cryo Storage is listed with project ID 928549 in one guide and is described as expanded cryopod storage with sorting and search. It is the most natural choice for a server whose main complaint is that ordinary cryopods are difficult to organize rather than a need for advanced breeding automation.

Sorting and search can matter more than raw capacity once a tribe owns hundreds of creatures. Verify the current user interface, sorting fields and map or cluster compatibility before committing. The available summaries do not establish a storage limit, performance result or migration method.

Pelayori’s Cryo Storage: a playstyle-oriented alternative

A ScreenRant guide recommends Pelayori’s Cryo Storage for players who want cryopods that are easier to access and tuned to their playstyle. The summary does not provide a verified project ID, capacity, version number or benchmark. Select it when the user experience of accessing cryopods is your priority, and read the current CurseForge description for the exact controls and settings.

Creature-storage comparison

Mod What community descriptions report ID or version information Best starting use
Dino Storage v2/v3 Soul-ball storage; stored creatures reportedly are not actively simulated; active tame count is reportedly reduced. Dino Storage v3 is listed as 927085; ID and version compatibility require verification. General creature storage and tame-count relief.
Dino Depot Dinoball stat tooltips, newborn auto-capture, passive-production tracking and search are reported. 942024 in one list; attribution and current ID require verification. Breeding and searchable creature collections.
Super Cryo Storage Expanded cryopod storage with sorting and search is reported. 928549 in one list; verify the current listing. Players who mainly need organization and retrieval.
Pelayori’s Cryo Storage Recommended in a guide for easier cryopod access and playstyle-oriented tuning. Not stated in available guide summaries. A more convenient cryopod workflow.

These descriptions are feature summaries, not a guarantee that every current build behaves identically. A server owner should test capture, release, death handling, breeding and recovery on a copy of the save before allowing valuable tames into a new system.

Best item and resource-storage mods

Creature storage will not sort ingots, building pieces or harvested materials. For those jobs, use an item-storage utility that matches the way your tribe gathers and crafts.

CS Auto Storage: automatic resource sorting

CS Auto Storage is described as part of Cybers Structures QoL+ and is listed with project ID 940975 in one community list. Its reported purpose is straightforward: automatically sort resources into chests. That can reduce repetitive transfers at industrial crafting areas and make a shared warehouse easier to audit.

Because the feature is tied to a larger structures quality-of-life package, verify whether you are installing a standalone project or a component of the full package, what other building changes it introduces, and whether the current configuration lets you choose destination containers. The available summary does not establish supported container types, range, sorting rules or a performance measurement.

Stacking mods such as HG Stacks

Stacking mods increase the number of units that can occupy one inventory slot. A community guide argues that larger resource stacks mean fewer item entities in storage and on the ground, which may be convenient and may help busy servers. That is a plausible operational benefit, not a published benchmark. No source establishes a universal frame-rate or memory improvement.

Stack-size changes affect the entire economy of a server. Before installing, decide whether the new limits should apply to every resource, whether recipes and spoilage remain balanced, and how existing inventories will behave after an update. Make a backup and test a representative set of resources, crafted items and dropped bags. “HG Stacks and similar” is a category, not a single standardized configuration; read the exact project page for its limits and settings.

Big Storage Box: high-capacity container claim

Creator videos describe Big Storage Box as holding up to 300 items. No authoritative project page was found in the available material, so treat 300 as an unverified claim rather than a specification. Confirm the current capacity, item-count definition and server/client requirements before building a warehouse around it.

Item-storage comparison

Option Reported purpose Capacity or ID information Important verification
CS Auto Storage Automatically sorts resources into chests. Part of Cybers Structures QoL+; ID 940975 in one list. Whether it is installed separately or with the package, sorting rules and supported containers.
Stacking mods (for example, HG Stacks) Raises stack sizes; fewer entities may remain in storage or on the ground. Exact limits are not stated. Economy balance, recipe behavior, spoilage and save compatibility.
Big Storage Box Large container; creator videos claim up to 300 items. “Up to 300” is not authoritative. Current project page, actual capacity and migration behavior.

Storage-adjacent mods worth pairing

Structures Plus (S+)

Structures Plus is described as the most-installed ASA mod in one community list, but it is a building overhaul rather than a storage mod. It is often paired with storage utilities because a redesigned base can make container placement, crafting areas and access routes more practical. The listed ASA project ID is 928546; verify it before use.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Install S+ only when you want its building changes as well as any storage-adjacent conveniences. Adding it solely because another storage mod mentions it can expand the number of systems that must be tested after an update.

Awesome Teleporters!

Awesome Teleporters! is described as a teleport network for players, items and dinos. It does not replace a chest, cryopod or sorting system, but it can connect a remote creature vault or resource warehouse to the rest of a cluster. Treat it as an access layer: decide where storage is located first, then use teleportation only if travel time is the actual bottleneck.

How to choose a storage stack

Your server’s problem First option to investigate Why Do not assume
Too many tames around bases Dino Storage v3 Community descriptions report soul-ball storage, no active simulation and a lower active tame count. That every version has identical behavior or that the reported ID is current.
Breeders cannot find or inspect stored animals Dino Depot Reported search, stat tooltips and production tracking target collection management. That newborn capture or production tracking is enabled or configured as described.
Cryopods are hard to organize Super Cryo Storage Reported sorting and search address retrieval. A specific capacity or migration path not stated by the guide.
Players want easier cryopod access Pelayori’s Cryo Storage Recommended for access and playstyle-oriented tuning. An ID, version or feature list not provided in the current listing.
Resource chests require constant manual sorting CS Auto Storage Reported automatic resource sorting. Its range, container support or package dependencies.
Warehouses and dropped bags contain many small stacks A stacking mod Larger stacks can reduce the number of item entities. A guaranteed server-performance gain.
A tribe needs a very large single container Big Storage Box Creator videos claim up to 300 items. That unverified capacity is still accurate.

Use one creature-storage system as the baseline rather than installing several cryopod replacements at once. Add item sorting or stacking separately, then test each change. Overlapping inventory hooks make it harder to identify which mod caused a lost item, an inaccessible tame or a startup failure.

Rank #2
ARK: Survival Evolved Pins - Rex
  • Official ARK: Survival Evolved licensed merchandise, featuring the Tyrannosaurus sculpted in textured iron

How to add ASA storage mods to a self-hosted server

The available installation guides describe CurseForge as the distribution channel for ASA mods, not Mod.io. Confirm the project on CurseForge and copy its numeric project ID exactly. Do not rely on a forum post, an old tutorial or a remembered number.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Stop the server and back up the save. Keep a restorable copy of the world and configuration before changing storage, stacking or creature handling.
  2. Open the current CurseForge project page. Confirm that the project is for ARK: Survival Ascended, read its supported version notes and copy the current numeric ID. The IDs reported for Dino Storage v3 (927085), Dino Depot (942024), Super Cryo Storage (928549), CS Auto Storage/Cybers Structures QoL+ (940975) and Structures Plus (928546) are verification leads, not permanent values.
  3. Add active mods to the launch line. Use the -mods= parameter followed by comma-separated numeric IDs with no spaces, for example -mods=927085,940975. Replace those numbers with the IDs you actually verified. The server downloads listed mods automatically on its first startup.
  4. Put a map or total-conversion mod first. Load order follows list order. If your server uses a map or total-conversion project, place that ID before the storage projects in -mods=.
  5. Use the passive tier deliberately. The -passivemods= parameter loads a second tier of mods after active mods. Only place a project there when its documentation says that passive loading is supported; do not move a storage mod merely to hide a load-order problem.
  6. Start once and watch the log. Allow the automatic download to finish. Check that each ID resolves, that the server reaches the map and that no mod reports a dependency or version error.
  7. Join with a matching client setup. Have players install or accept the same ASA mod set through the supported distribution flow. Test a disposable character, an empty container and a low-value creature before moving valuable assets.

The exact location of the launch line depends on your server host or script, but the parameter syntax is the same: -mods=, IDs separated by commas and no spaces. Keep a written list of IDs and their verified project names so that an update does not silently substitute a similarly named project.

Load order, updates and compatibility

Load order matters because ASA processes the list in sequence. A map or total-conversion mod belongs first, followed by the active gameplay and storage projects that depend on it. The passive tier is separate and loads after active mods. If a server fails immediately after adding a project, remove the newest ID, restore the backup if necessary and add mods one at a time to isolate the conflict.

Version labels are especially important for Dino Storage. Community lists distinguish v2 and v3, while the ASA v3 entry is reported as 927085. A server that was configured for one release should not be upgraded by simply replacing an ID and assuming the save is safe. Read the current migration notes, test on a copy and schedule a rollback plan.

Apply the same discipline to item mods. A stacking change can alter existing inventories, while an automated sorter can move items into containers in ways that surprise players after a configuration change. Record the old mod list, save a backup and update during a maintenance window when no one is transferring valuable tames or resources.

Performance claims: what is established and what is not

No published statistic was found for storage-mod adoption or performance. In particular, there is no verified percentage improvement, frame-rate figure or server tick-time comparison for Dino Storage, a stacking mod or any other option in this guide.

Community descriptions suggest two possible mechanisms: stored creatures may not be actively simulated, and larger stacks may create fewer item entities. Those are reasons to test, not evidence of a guaranteed result on your hardware. Measure before and after under comparable conditions:

  • Record the number of active tames and item entities in a busy base.
  • Use the same map, player count, breeding activity and resource load for each comparison.
  • Check server logs for errors, save duration and repeated mod warnings.
  • Test retrieval, release, death handling and restart recovery, not just the first successful capture.
  • Keep the original save and remove one mod at a time if symptoms appear.

If a mod improves organization but introduces unreliable recovery, the operational risk outweighs a speculative performance benefit. Favor the smallest set that solves the measured problem.

For administrators who would rather run ASA on a hosted game server, Godlike.Host’s ARK: Survival Ascended hosting includes its own Pterodactyl-based game panel with a built-in mod installer and updater, plus SFTP/FTP access.

Troubleshooting storage-mod failures

The server does not download or recognize a mod

Recheck that the ID is a current CurseForge project ID and that the parameter is spelled -mods=. Remove spaces between comma-separated IDs. Restart after correcting the line and confirm in the startup log that the project was downloaded. An old guide may show a retired or similarly named project.

The server starts but players cannot join

Confirm that the server and clients are using the same ASA mod set and compatible versions. If the failure began after adding several projects, stop the server, restore the backup and add the IDs individually. This identifies whether the issue is a client mismatch, a dependency or a conflict between two inventory systems.

A stored creature or item appears missing

Stop making further transfers. Preserve the save, check the mod’s current recovery instructions and verify that the same project and version are loaded. Do not switch between Dino Storage, Dino Depot and another cryopod replacement while investigating; changing handlers can make it impossible to tell whether the asset is hidden, moved or genuinely lost.

Sorting behaves unexpectedly

Review the current configuration for CS Auto Storage or the relevant container mod. Check destination-chest rules, access range and whether another automation or structures package is intercepting the same inventory. Test with low-value materials before re-enabling the system for a shared warehouse.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Stack changes disrupt recipes or existing inventories

Disable the change only after backing up. Compare a fresh item, an existing stack and a crafted recipe in a test save. Because stacking mods are not standardized, use the exact project’s configuration and migration notes rather than assuming that limits from another “stack” mod apply.

Console availability and mod-maker constraints

CurseForge moderation rules for ASA require mods not to appear official or endorsed by Studio Wildcard. Mod makers may use Survival Evolved and DLC assets, except Aquatica and ATLAS assets, and may not use assets from other Studio Wildcard games. Console versions, including PlayStation and Xbox, go through additional moderation review.

Those rules affect availability and approval, not the quality ranking of a storage project. A mod that works on a self-hosted PC server may have a different release path or approval status on console. Check the current CurseForge listing and your platform’s supported mod workflow before advertising a feature to console players.

A practical rollout plan for administrators

  1. Define the problem in measurable terms: active tame count, time spent sorting, warehouse capacity or travel time.
  2. Choose one primary system: one creature-storage mod for tames, then one item utility if necessary.
  3. Verify the current IDs and versions: use CurseForge, not Mod.io listings or copied launch lines.
  4. Clone the save: test capture, storage, search, release, sorting, restart and rollback.
  5. Document the load order: map or total conversion first, active mods in list order, passive mods in -passivemods= only when supported.
  6. Announce the change: tell players which creatures and items should not be transferred during maintenance.
  7. Monitor after release: review logs and player reports before adding another overlapping utility.

For most servers, this process leads to a restrained setup: Dino Storage v3 for general creature handling, CS Auto Storage for resource sorting and a carefully tested stacking mod only when entity count or inventory clutter is an observed problem. Choose Dino Depot instead when searchable creature records and breeding workflows are more valuable than a minimal setup; choose Super Cryo Storage or Pelayori’s Cryo Storage when the priority is cryopod organization and access.
