There is no single best Tetris game for everyone. For a feature-rich mix of solo play and multiplayer, start with Tetris Effect: Connected. Choose Puyo Puyo Tetris if you want a party game that combines Tetris with SEGA’s Puyo Puyo. Your platform and preferred way to play matter as much as the title: check the current listing for your region and system before buying.

Tetris Effect: Connected pairs a large set of solo modes with both cooperative and competitive multiplayer. Its stages are designed around audiovisual presentation, a feature emphasized by the publisher rather than an independent quality verdict. How its multiplayer works
- Connected co-op: Three players link their playfields and work together against computer-controlled bosses.
- Connected Vs.: The official site describes a mode in which a fourth player can take the boss role.
- Zone Battle: One-on-one play uses the Zone mechanic, which can stop time and change the flow of a match.

What to know if you play on Nintendo Switch
Nintendo lists Tetris Effect: Connected as compatible with Switch 2, with behavior consistent with Nintendo Switch. For the Switch version, Nintendo lists TV, tabletop, and handheld play; one to four players on one system; and online play for two to eight players. Online play requires a Nintendo Switch Online membership. These are Nintendo’s listed specifications for that version, not universal player counts across all platforms. Check Nintendo’s listing.

When does Puyo Puyo Tetris make more sense?
Choose Puyo Puyo Tetris if playing two puzzle systems is part of the appeal. SEGA’s description of the original game covers solo Adventure and Challenge modes, plus Arcade competition for up to four players. It also mentions unlockable character voices and skins. These are facts about the original release described on that page; do not assume they fully describe Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 or every current edition. Read SEGA’s description.

What about other Tetris games?
The official catalog also lists Tetris 99, Tetris Forever, Tetris: The Grand Master 4 – Absolute Eye, Tetris Block Party, Tetris, and other licensed games. - Start with your platform. Look up the game in the storefront for your console or device. The official Tetris Effect: Connected product listing links to several platform stores, and Nintendo provides a separate Switch listing. Enhance’s product listing; Nintendo’s Switch listing.
- Decide whether you mainly want solo, local multiplayer, online play, or a mix. The official descriptions distinguish Journey and Effect modes from Connected co-op and competitive modes; SEGA describes solo and Arcade options for the original Puyo Puyo Tetris.
- Check the exact title and edition. Puyo Puyo Tetris and Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 are separate catalog entries. Confirm the platform, format, region, and edition on the live store page.
- Verify current availability and online requirements. Prices, stock, and store editions can vary by region and change over time. For Switch online play in Tetris Effect: Connected, Nintendo specifies a Nintendo Switch Online membership.
