The best Tokai Teio skills depend on which version you are training and the race you are targeting. Tokai Teio (Peak Joy) has Sky-High Teio Step, while Tokai Teio (Beyond the Horizon) has Certain Victory. Both unique skills have late-race positioning and nearby-target conditions, so neither is guaranteed to activate in every race. Choose the rest of the build around distance, running style, and the skill’s actual activation conditions.
Which Tokai Teio version are you training?
The two versions have different unique skills and listed skill pools. The aptitude information below is from their respective Game8 character guides, both last updated April 6, 2026; treat it as a guide snapshot and confirm the current in-game details before spending skill points.

Peak Joy: when Sky-High Teio Step can help
Game8 describes Sky-High Teio Step as a velocity increase on the final straight, provided Teio is third or better and has a close target to overtake. Its value therefore depends on both her position and whether a suitable opponent is nearby when the activation window arrives.

Other listed Peak Joy skills
- Potential skills: Go with the Flow, Technician, Soft Step, and Lightning Step.
- Career event skills: Prepared to Pass, Hydrate, Head-On, and Nimble Navigator.
These are options in the guide’s skill list, not a tested recommendation that all—or any particular combination—will outperform alternatives in your race.
Beyond the Horizon: when Certain Victory can help
Game8 describes Certain Victory as a final-straight velocity increase. Its conditions involve being on another runner’s heels toward the front of the final corner or later, with a close target to overtake; the guide also notes a fifth-place-or-better condition and needing to remain behind that target long enough. Check the current skill description in your game, since small differences in position or timing can determine whether it activates.

Other listed Beyond the Horizon skills
- Potential skills: Spring Runner ◯, Race Planner, Corner Recovery ◯, and Miraculous Step.
- Recovery consideration: The guide suggests at least one gold recovery skill for medium or long races, naming Race Planner and Swinging Maestro as possible choices. Treat that as guide-specific advice, not a requirement for every course or build.
How to choose skills for your race
Cygames’ official game-system overview advises selecting skills suited to the trainee and explains that acquired skills activate during races. Apply that principle to the race you are actually entering rather than choosing skills from a general “best” list.
- Start with the version. Check whether you are training Peak Joy or Beyond the Horizon; their unique skills and listed skill pools differ.
- Check the race distance and running style. Compare the race with Teio’s listed aptitudes, then verify each candidate skill’s own applicability in the current game.
- Read the activation conditions. Note the phase, position, nearby-target requirement, and any timing or duration condition. A skill that requires Teio to be near the front may not suit a plan that leaves her farther back.
- Balance the build’s needs. Consider whether this race calls for recovery, velocity, or acceleration support, and compare candidate skills by their actual conditions rather than their names or rarity alone.
- Verify before spending points. Inspect current in-game descriptions and race rules. The official game-system overview gives general skill guidance; it is not a detailed, continuously updated skill database.
