Its creator says it unlocks Toolkit features and write permissions, including level editing and save editing. However, the available reporting did not independently test the mod, and its compatibility with current game and Toolkit releases is unverified.
What BG3 Toolkit Unlocked is
BG3 Toolkit Unlocked, created by Siegfre, modifies the official BG3 Mod Toolkit. The creator’s Nexus Mods listing describes it as unlocking “all features and write permissions for the BG3 Toolkit including level editing, save editing, and more.” That is the mod author’s claim, not a feature guarantee from Larian or a result confirmed by independent testing.
The distinction matters: this is not a new level-editor option in Baldur’s Gate 3’s normal menus. You need the separate Mod Toolkit, and the mod’s instructions involve replacing files in that Toolkit installation.
What features it claims to unlock
The listing names level editing and save editing among the additional capabilities. It also says users can access Toolkit features and write permissions that are otherwise unavailable. The listing does not establish exactly how each feature behaves in practice or whether it works with current releases.

Wargamer’s Timothy Linward reported on 9 September 2024 that the publication had not tested BG3 Toolkit Unlocked and could not verify whether it worked or how easy it was to use. That caveat remains important: the cited reporting and listing do not confirm successful use on a current setup.
Requirements and listed version
The Nexus Mods page requires Baldur’s Gate 3 and a working BG3 Mod Toolkit installation. The listing specifies Toolkit version 4.1.1.5854927. Its displayed mod version is 0.2.0, last updated 14 September 2024. Those are details recorded on the listing, not evidence that the mod remains compatible with today’s game or Toolkit releases.

Installation steps described by the mod listing
The following is the listing’s procedure, not an independently tested installation guide. Replacing Toolkit DLLs carries risk; keep the original files so you can restore them if the Toolkit stops launching or behaves unexpectedly.
- Back up the original files. In the BG3 Mod Toolkit directory, make copies of
EditorFramework.dll,DialogPlugin.dll, andDialogPluginUI.dll. - Get the replacement files. Download the versions provided on the BG3 Toolkit Unlocked listing.
- Replace the Toolkit files. Move the downloaded DLLs into the Toolkit directory, replacing the originals.
- Start the Toolkit and check its status. The listing says a successful start should display “(Dev)” at the top of the Toolkit window. This indicator is the page’s stated check; it does not independently prove every unlocked feature works.
- Load a level. The listing instructs users to choose “Show Inherited Levels” in the level browser to load levels.
What is—and is not—confirmed
- Confirmed by the mod listing: the creator, stated capabilities, listed requirements, version and update date, DLL replacement instructions, and the “(Dev)” indicator described above.
- Not independently verified in the cited coverage: whether the mod works as intended, how easy it is to use, and whether it is compatible with current game and Toolkit versions.
For that reason, treat the page as a description of what the mod is intended to unlock, not proof that the level editor or save-editing features will work in your particular installation. Wargamer’s contemporaneous report also noted that it had not tested the mod: Wargamer’s report, updated 9 September 2024.
