The headline “Big Bodacious 240Hz OLED Gaming Monitors Over 40 Inches Are Coming Soon” dates to November 25, 2022—not a new announcement. It pointed to MSI’s Project 491C, which was still a teaser, alongside LG’s already-launched 45-inch UltraGear 45GR95QE-B. Of those products, LG’s monitor is the one with published specifications: a 45-inch OLED display running at 240Hz.
What the 2022 “coming soon” headline meant
HotHardware published the story on November 25, 2022, ahead of CES 2023. It described MSI Project 491C as a forthcoming super-ultrawide QD-OLED gaming monitor, but MSI had not yet provided final specifications or pricing in that report. HotHardware attributed the teaser phrase “the world’s firsts super ultra-wide QD-OLED curved gaming monitor” to MSI; the report did not identify an individual speaker. Read the 2022 report.
That teaser should not be mistaken for a current product announcement, nor should missing details be filled in by inference. The report does not establish the final resolution, ports, curvature, availability, or price of Project 491C.
The confirmed over-40-inch option: LG UltraGear 45GR95QE-B
LG’s product page lists the 45GR95QE-B as a 45-inch OLED gaming monitor with a 21:9 aspect ratio, 3440 × 1440 resolution and a 240Hz refresh rate. These are manufacturer-stated specifications, not independent test results. See LG’s product specifications.

Does “over 40 inches” mean 4K?
No. The LG 45GR95QE-B meets the size and 240Hz criteria, but its listed 3440 × 1440 resolution is not 4K UHD (3840 × 2160). A 45-inch diagonal alone does not mean the monitor meets a “40-inch-plus 4K OLED at 240Hz” requirement. Buyers seeking that exact combination should compare the resolution as well as the size and refresh rate.
