VALORANT Patch 11.08, published October 14, 2025, made many abilities less frequent, shorter-lived or easier to counter, while selectively strengthening flashes and extending Neon’s sprint window. Riot said the goal was more intentional ability use and a healthier balance between gunplay and abilities. The changes below are an editorial selection of the patch’s most consequential agent adjustments—not an official Riot ranking—and do not establish which agents are strongest in October 2026.
What changed across agents in Patch 11.08?
The broad direction was to give opponents more ways to read, avoid or punish utility, and to reduce how often some abilities could be used. But this was not a blanket weakening: several flashes became more powerful, and some barriers became cheaper. Riot described its goal as allowing “your gunplay to do the talking” while abilities are used “strategically and intentionally to gain advantages.” Riot’s Patch 11.08 notes, attributed to JOY and dated October 14, 2025, say the changes aim for a healthier balance between “sharp gunplay” and VALORANT’s tactical abilities.
One shared adjustment helps explain individual changes: Riot standardized several debuff effects and stim modifiers. The listed concusses from Breach’s Fault Line, Gekko’s Wingman, Neon’s Relay Bolt and Astra’s Nova Pulse became 2.5 seconds. The listed nearsights from Fade’s Prowler, Omen’s Paranoia, Reyna’s Leer and Skye’s Seeker had their radius increased from 5 to 7 meters. Brimstone’s Stim Beacon, KAY/O’s NULL/CMD and Reyna’s Empress were aligned around shared reload, firing-rate, weapon-draw and spread-recovery modifiers. Those shared rules mean an ability’s individual change should not be read in isolation.
Which agents received the biggest nerfs?
Yoru: less durable and less flexible utility
Yoru took one of the clearest kit-wide reductions. Gatecrash’s health fell from 60 to 20, making the tether easier to destroy. Fakeout’s flash duration dropped from 3 to 2 seconds, while Blindside’s duration fell from 1.75 to 1.5 seconds. During Dimensional Drift, Yoru could no longer cast Blindside or set up Fakeout. Riot said his kit had become effective enough to overshadow other Duelists and some Initiators; the stated aim was to make his tools more selfish and encourage coordinated play.

Cypher: more readable surveillance and a changed Trapwire payoff
Inactive Spycam devices became visible to enemies within 8 meters. When active, the camera produced louder, persistent audio within 12 meters. The cooldown after a destroyed Spycam increased from 45 to 60 seconds. Trapwire no longer concussed a caught target: it instead slowed and revealed that target for one second. Its windup was faster, so the change is not simply a slower or weaker trap; it shifts the effect toward more counterplay and a different reward for triggering it. Riot’s notes list different Trapwire windup values for PC and console, so the value should be checked against the platform-specific entry rather than generalized across both.
Killjoy: unattended gadgets take longer to come back online
Turret reactivation time rose from 0.5 to 2 seconds. Alarmbot health fell from 50 to 20, and its reactivation time rose from 1 to 2 seconds. Both gadgets now show a windup when Killjoy re-enters their activation range. Riot framed these adjustments as a way to improve counterplay against utility placed outside Killjoy’s immediate presence.

Vyse: Arc Rose and Steel Garden become easier to answer
Arc Rose could be destroyed after its flash windup began, its flash duration fell from 2.25 to 2 seconds, and its cooldown after destruction rose from 45 to 60 seconds. Recalling Arc Rose now always caused a 20-second cooldown. Steel Garden’s windup increased from 3.4 to 4.4 seconds and its radius shrank from 32.5 to 26 meters. Together, those changes give opponents more time or opportunity to respond to Vyse’s utility.
More cooldowns, plus smaller or less durable utility
Several other agents lost ability uptime or utility resilience. The patch lengthened cooldowns for Breach’s Fault Line, Fade’s Haunt, KAY/O’s ZERO/POINT, Sova’s Recon Bolt, Astra’s Gravity Well and Nova Pulse, Omen’s Dark Cover, and Deadlock’s GravNet. Gekko’s reclaim cooldown doubled from 10 to 20 seconds; Wingman’s health fell from 80 to 60 and Thrash’s from 200 to 180. Reyna’s Leer health fell from 80 to 60. These are availability or survivability changes, distinct from the shared debuff adjustments.

Which agents were buffed—or changed in both directions?
Breach: a stronger flash alongside less frequent and narrower control
Flash Point duration increased from 2 to 2.25 seconds, but Fault Line’s cooldown increased from 40 to 60 seconds. Rolling Thunder became narrower, its concuss duration was standardized to 2.5 seconds, and its ultimate cost fell from 9 to 8 points. Breach is therefore a mixed case: the flash lasts longer and the ultimate is cheaper, while his other control tools are less available or cover less area.
KAY/O: a much longer underhand flash, but less ZERO/POINT uptime
The maximum duration of KAY/O’s underhand FLASH/DRIVE increased from 1.5 to 2.25 seconds. In contrast, ZERO/POINT’s cooldown rose from 40 to 60 seconds. NULL/CMD received the shared stim standardization: its firing-rate increase fell from 15% to 10%, while standardized weapon-draw and recovery benefits were added.

Neon: more sprint time, but a longer wait to recharge
High Gear’s full-battery sprint duration increased from 12 to 16 seconds, while fully recharging the battery took longer—rising from 20 to 60 seconds. That makes Neon more capable of sustaining a single sprint window, but makes repeated use more dependent on managing the resource. Relay Bolt’s concuss duration fell from 3.5 to the standardized 2.5 seconds.
Deadlock and Sage: cheaper barriers with reduced segment health
Barrier Mesh’s cost fell from 400 to 300 credits, while its smaller nodes’ health dropped from 570 to 480. Sage’s Barrier Orb also fell in cost from 400 to 300 credits; its fortification delay shortened from 3.3 to 2 seconds, while segment health fell from 800 to 600. Both changes lower the purchase cost but reduce durability, with Sage also receiving a faster fortification.

Omen: faster Paranoia, shorter reach and less smoke uptime
Paranoia’s projectile speed increased from 16 to 20 meters per second, but its travel distance fell from 32.5 to 25 meters. Dark Cover’s cooldown increased from 30 to 40 seconds. The projectile reaches its destination faster but cannot travel as far, while the smoke is available less often.

- Ability uptime: Longer cooldowns on several signature abilities mean fewer opportunities to repeat them during a round or across consecutive rounds.
- Counterplay: Spycam tells, destructible Arc Rose after windup, and Killjoy gadget windups make more utility easier to detect or answer.
- Power is not one number: Breach, KAY/O, Neon, Deadlock, Sage and Omen all received changes that improve one dimension while reducing another.
- Shared rules matter: Standardized debuff and stim effects altered abilities beyond the headline agent-specific numbers.
