Start with this diagnostic checklist
Before replacing anything, record:
- Which program fails: GameCenter, Warface, Armored Warfare, Skyforge, another game, or an uninstaller
- When it fails: at launch, during an update, while uninstalling, or after antivirus activity
- The complete error text and path: especially the folder named in the message
- Your Windows architecture: open Settings > System > About and check System type
- Whether antivirus quarantined the file: open Windows Security > Virus & threat protection > Protection history
bigup2.dll is normally an application file used by the former Mail.Ru/My.com GameCenter, now associated with MY.GAMES GameCenter. The safest fix is to repair or reinstall the GameCenter or game installation that owns it, not to copy a replacement into a Windows system folder.

Indexed versions commonly described for this file are 32-bit builds such as version 2.0.0.291 and 2.0.0.298, each listed at about 2.2 MB. These records are third-party inventory data, not a universal version requirement.
Fix 1: Repair or reinstall the owning game or GameCenter
This is the fastest and most reliable solution when the error appears while starting a game, launcher, updater, or uninstaller.
If the launcher still opens
- Start GameCenter normally.
- Select the affected game.
- Open its menu, settings, or context menu.
- Choose Repair, Verify, Check files, or Restore files, depending on what the launcher provides.
- Allow the scan and repair to finish.
- Restart Windows.
- Launch the game again.
A successful repair restores the missing component to the application’s own directory and removes the startup error. If the launcher reports that files cannot be repaired, continue with a reinstall.

- Open Settings.
- Select Apps > Installed apps.
- Search for GameCenter, MY.GAMES GameCenter, or the game named in the error.
- Select the three-dot menu beside the entry.
- Choose Uninstall.
- Restart Windows.
- Reinstall the launcher or game using the official MY.GAMES or game publisher installer.
- Start the newly installed program before restoring any old files manually.
If the game does not appear in Installed apps, look for its original installer or publisher-provided launcher. Do not use a loose DLL as a substitute for the missing installation.
Windows does not offer a repair option for every desktop application. If Advanced options contains Repair or Reset, you may try Repair first, but reinstalling is preferable when a program-owned DLL is missing.
If the error appears during uninstall
A damaged installation can prevent its own uninstaller from loading bigup2.dll.
- Reinstall the same GameCenter or game version from the official publisher source.
- Restart Windows.
- Try uninstalling again from Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
- If removal still fails, use Microsoft’s program-installation and removal troubleshooter.
- After removal, restart Windows and install the currently supported client if you still need the game.
Preserve save files and configuration folders before removing an obsolete game. Their locations vary by title, so do not delete unrelated folders simply because they contain the word “GameCenter.”

Fix 2: Check Windows Security quarantine
Antivirus software may quarantine a file after a launcher update, a damaged download, or a change in detection rules.
- Open Windows Security from the Start menu.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Select Protection history.
- Expand any detection related to
bigup2.dll, GameCenter, or the affected game. - Check the original file path, detection name, and action taken.
- Confirm that the file was originally inside the trusted GameCenter or game installation directory.
- Check the file’s Properties > Digital Signatures tab if the file is still present.
Do not restore the file merely because the game stopped working. If it is unsigned, came from a temporary or Downloads folder, or is detected by multiple reputable security products, remove the software and reinstall it from a clean official installer.
If the file was quarantined from a legitimate installation and the signature and path are consistent, you can use the Actions menu to restore it, then immediately update or repair the owning application. Windows Defender may detect it again, which is a reason to investigate the installation rather than repeatedly approving the file.
Fix 3: Check the full path and architecture
A message such as “The specified module could not be found” does not always mean that bigup2.dll itself is absent. It can mean that a dependency required by the DLL is missing.

First, identify the application directory shown in the error or shortcut:
- Right-click the game or launcher shortcut.
- Select Properties.
- Check the Target field.
- Select Open File Location if available.
- Look for
bigup2.dllbeside the launcher executable or within the game’s installation folders.
Do not move the file if you find it elsewhere. Its expected location is determined by the application that loads it.
Common indexed builds are 32-bit. A 32-bit game normally loads its private DLLs from its own directory, even when running on 64-bit Windows. The names System32 and SysWOW64 are especially confusing here: neither is the correct destination for this application-owned file.

If the program reports that the DLL is “not designed to run on Windows” or shows status 0xc000012f, assume corruption, an incomplete update, or an architecture mismatch. Reinstall the owning program rather than forcing a different DLL into the folder.
Fix 4: Install a runtime only when the error identifies one
bigup2.dll is not a Visual C++ redistributable, DirectX component, or .NET installation. Installing those products does not recreate the file.
Use a runtime repair only when the complete error separately names a missing runtime DLL or reports a runtime installation problem. For a 32-bit application on 64-bit Windows, the x86 Visual C++ package may be the relevant package because Microsoft requires the redistributable architecture to match the application.
- Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
- Search for Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable.
- Use the three-dot menu and choose Modify or Repair, if offered.
- Restart Windows.
- If the application still reports a missing runtime, install the x86 package from Microsoft’s official Visual C++ downloads page.
- Reboot and test the application.
Do not uninstall every existing Visual C++ entry. Multiple versions can coexist, and a newer package does not supply a proprietary GameCenter DLL.
Fix 5: Repair Windows components only for broader corruption
DISM and System File Checker repair Windows components and protected system files. They normally do not recreate an application-owned bigup2.dll.

Use them when several unrelated applications or Windows features are failing, or when Windows itself reports component corruption.
- Open Start and type Command Prompt.
- Right-click Command Prompt.
- Select Run as administrator.
- Run:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
- Wait for it to complete.
- Then run:
sfc /scannow
- Restart Windows.
- Test the affected program.
Microsoft recommends DISM before SFC. If these commands report repairs but bigup2.dll is still missing, repair or reinstall GameCenter or the game. The Windows repair sequence is not a replacement for the application installer.

Fix 6: Check storage and recent system changes
If files repeatedly disappear, updates become corrupt, or several installations fail:
- Back up important files.
- Open Settings > Windows Update > Update history and note whether the problem began after an update.
- Run a security scan.
- Check the drive for errors using an appropriate Windows repair procedure.
- Consider System Restore if the failure began immediately after a known software or system change.
System Restore rolls back system settings and files, not personal documents. It is a fallback, not the first repair for one missing GameCenter file.

A graphics, storage, or network driver can affect a game, but it does not normally install or replace bigup2.dll. Update drivers only when Device Manager shows an error, the game also crashes with graphics or storage symptoms, or Windows reports a device problem.
- Right-click Start.
- Select Device Manager.
- Expand the relevant category, such as Display adapters, Network adapters, or Storage controllers.
- Right-click the device.
- Select Update driver > Search automatically for drivers.
- Restart Windows and test the game.
Do not remove a working driver just because bigup2.dll is missing. Why regsvr32 usually does not help
Do not run regsvr32 bigup2.dll as a general repair step.

regsvr32 is intended for DLLs that expose a registration entry point called DllRegisterServer. A normal GameCenter runtime or helper DLL may not provide that entry point. The command can therefore produce:
The module was loaded but the entry-point DllRegisterServer was not found.
That error does not prove that Windows is broken. It usually means the DLL is not a self-registering component. Repair the application instead.

Use the official MY.GAMES or game publisher installer, the launcher’s repair or verification function, or a verified backup from the same installation. Never copy this file into System32 or SysWOW64.
