Black Myth: Wukong update 1.0.8.14860, released on 29 August 2024, fixed several crashes and gameplay issues and slightly reduced the stats of one boss: Yaoguai King Captain Wise-Voice. The patch notes give no before-and-after numbers and do not say which of the boss’s stats changed.
What did patch 1.0.8.14860 change?
Game Science’s official 29 August 2024 announcement groups the changes across stability, combat and progression, and text and presentation. The update addressed specific crash conditions, corrected several combat or quest-related problems, and improved translations and subtitles.

Which boss was nerfed?
The notes state: “Slightly reduced the stats of Yaoguai King ‘Captain Wise-Voice’.” This is the update’s explicitly named boss balance change. The announcement provides no numerical adjustment and does not identify whether health, damage, defense, or another stat was affected, so the size and practical effect of the change cannot be quantified from the notes.
The notes do not give a reason for the adjustment. Game8 described Captain Wise-Voice as a particularly difficult Chapter 3 encounter in its patch guide updated on 29 August 2024, but that characterization is not a stated rationale from Game Science.

Which crashes and visual issues were fixed?
- Crashes associated with FSR during startup or the prologue.
- Crashes in certain Webbed Hollow areas when NVIDIA Full Ray Tracing was enabled.
- An abnormal hair-stretching issue; the notes also say Lingxuzi’s hair effects were optimized.
What combat, progression, and quest issues were addressed?
- Enemies could get stuck in certain situations.
- Lantern Warden attacks could push the player into walls.
- Whirling Thrusts could become unresponsive while using Thrust Stance.
- Stance switching in Chapter 6 could fail in certain situations.
- Some situational stat errors were corrected.
- A Daoist Mi quest icon could remain after the quest had become impossible to complete.
- Portrait collection progress could be displayed incorrectly.
What localization and display changes were included?
The announcement lists corrections to Chinese text, Portrait translations, song titles and lyrics, and English lyric display. It also notes translation improvements for talents, equipment, and inventory items, along with subtitle-layout and loading-tip changes.
What did the update say about Turkish system-language crashes?
Game Science reported a crash issue on PS5 and PC when the system language was Turkish. The announcement offered a temporary workaround: change the system language to English or another language. For PS5, it gave this path: Settings > System > Language > Console Language. Because the announcement framed this as a temporary workaround pending a later fix, it should not be treated as current troubleshooting guidance without checking later updates.

When did the patch arrive, and how large was it?
SteamDB’s record of the 29 August 2024 update lists its time as 16:00 UTC+8 (08:00 UTC) and reports a download of roughly 1.6 GB. The announcement’s request to reserve around 80 GB refers to temporary free space for the PC update process, not the patch’s final installed size.
