Black Ops 6’s five LMGs covered here—PU-21, XMG, GPMG-7, Feng 82, and PML 5.56—have different Special camo challenges in Multiplayer, Zombies, and Warzone. The requirements below come from challenge lists updated for Season 5 in 2025; they have not been verified against the live game in 2026, so check each weapon’s in-game camo tracker for the current counts.
How LMG camo progression works
Activision says weapon leveling is not required to begin camo progress: its official progression page states, “No Weapon Leveling needed.” Each weapon has nine sequential Military camos, two Special camos per mode, and four Mastery camos per mode. Military progress is tracked separately for each weapon. Special challenges are weapon-specific, but once a weapon completes Military progression and unlocks the Special category in at least one mode, its unlocked Special camos can be equipped on other weapons. These comparisons describe what the listed tasks ask you to do, not tested fastest methods. Choose the mode and weapon whose conditions fit the way you already play, and check the relevant activity and loadout requirements in-game.
Quick Recap
- Moving and sprinting: Multiplayer PU-21 asks for kills shortly after sprinting, while the XMG asks for kills while moving.
- Close-range or hipfire: Multiplayer GPMG-7 requires point-blank kills and PML 5.56 requires hipfire kills. In Zombies, PU-21 has a hipfire task and GPMG-7 has a point-blank task.

- For Mastery, check both the weapon’s listed task and the wider class or weapon-unlock gate.
