What “streamlined menus” meant
In an August 15, 2024 roadmap, Call of Duty described changes to the experience then known as Call of Duty HQ: a streamlined interface, more direct access to games, greater control over downloads—including Warzone content—and expanded streaming technology intended to reduce file sizes. The company presented these as a phased series of downloads and interface updates, not a single change that arrived everywhere at once. Read the official roadmap.

The roadmap summarized its aims as “Streamlined menus, smaller downloads, greater control over what you download, and a focus on games.” That describes the goal; the announcement did not include independent measurements showing that navigation became faster or easier for every player.
How the Call of Duty library was organized
Activision’s October 2024 launch guide described three main hubs, with each hub’s content presented on one page. This was the library-level interface for reaching Call of Duty games and related content, rather than a replacement for each game’s own menus. See the official launch guide.

What happened at Black Ops 6 launch
The transition unfolded in stages. Before launch, Modern Warfare III and Warzone were the primary Home tiles. On October 25, 2024, Black Ops 6 took Modern Warfare III’s place as a primary tile. Players could open Black Ops 6 directly and cross-launch to Warzone, which retained its legacy interface until Season 01. The launch guide said Season 01 would bring the interface to its “fully realized state,” with direct access to both Black Ops 6 and Warzone and a Battle Pass tab. Those were historical rollout plans and dates, not upcoming changes.
Black Ops 6 also had an individual interface designed to take players to Campaign, Multiplayer, and Zombies. Some settings were managed globally at the Call of Duty level, while others were specific to an individual game. The launch guide’s distinction matters: the shared library helped players choose a game, while the Black Ops 6 interface organized that game’s modes and settings.

Separate changes to the in-game HUD and lobby
Black Ops 6’s June 2024 reveal covered additional navigation changes inside the game. Players could choose HUD presets and reposition elements such as the minimap. Activision also said accessing the lobby would be more straightforward and that the time from entering the lobby to a match would be shortened, with streamlining between matches as well. These were developer-described design intentions, not published results from an independent usability test. Read the Black Ops 6 reveal.
A separate Call of Duty: NEXT systems post discussed a more approachable Gunsmith and streamlined loadout navigation, including attachment selection. That concerns the in-game weapons interface, not the Home, All Games, and Store library hubs. Read the systems overview.

What the announcements do—and do not—establish
The official materials explain the intended layout and rollout, but they do not report a controlled before-and-after study of menu navigation. They provide no measured change in the number of steps to reach a game or mode, navigation time, or player satisfaction. It is therefore accurate to say that Call of Duty designed the interface for more direct access; it is not established by these announcements that it made navigation measurably faster for all players.
