Warzone Loadout’s 52-weapon ranking, updated September 1, 2026, puts Merrick 556 first, Dresden 9mm second, and KRIG C third. That is a useful comparison, but it is neither the same update date nor evidence of a shared ranking method with OGHub.

How to choose a weapon for your matches
A tier label is a starting point, not a substitute for matching a weapon to the ranges and situations you actually encounter. Compare weapons by role, then assess their practical traits and how they fit your play style.
Start with class and engagement range
Activision describes assault rifles as medium-range weapons and SMGs as medium-to-short-range weapons, with trade-offs in mobility, handling, accuracy, and power. Its launch-era overview describes the XM4 as well-rounded and the AMES 85 as suited to mid- to long-range engagements. These official descriptions explain intended roles; they are not current balance measurements.

Compare practical performance
- Damage and effective range: Consider whether the weapon suits the distances at which you usually fight.
- Recoil and accuracy: Favor a setup you can control consistently, especially when taking longer shots.
- Handling and mobility: Consider how quickly you need to aim, move, and respond at close range.
- Play style: A weapon’s placement on an editorial list matters less if its role does not suit your approach.
Ranked-loadout pages can offer example builds, but publishers do not necessarily use the same evaluation criteria or test conditions. A recommended build from one page is not proof that another ranking used it.
Why rankings and older weapon advice can age
Weapon balance changes can alter the performance assumptions behind a list. Activision’s Season 02 notes in 2025, for example, changed the Goblin Mk2’s maximum damage range from 0–16.5 m to 0–19.7 m and its medium damage range from 16.6–39.4 m to 19.8–41.3 m. The notes also describe changes affecting magazine reloads and weapon behavior. These are historical Season 02 values, not current Season 6 statistics; they illustrate why old advice should not be presented as current without checking its date.

What this tier list can and cannot tell you
There is no official developer tier ranking or official in-game usage statistic established by these sources. OGHub and Warzone Loadout provide editorial rankings, and their different dates and formats do not establish a single consensus order. Use the dated lists to narrow your choices, then compare the weapon’s role and handling against your own needs.
