Before you start: prepare for the quest’s checkpoints
The route has four demanding stretches: early setup and Beamsmasher acquisition, Nathan’s chamber, a timed buoy-and-bomb sequence, and the Patient 13 boss fight. You can play the quest solo or with a squad. Co-op offers more hands for simultaneous tasks; solo gives you direct control over every interaction. The quest is reported as soloable by the walkthroughs below.

The main preparation checkpoint is immediately before hacking the first buoy: the next objectives impose a two-minute timer followed by a five-minute bomb timer. Finish shopping and upgrades, equip useful equipment, and plan the return route to the Bio Lab before starting. Treat entering the final boss area as a separate commitment.
1. Activate power and raise Pack-a-Punch
- Activate and defend all three Aetherium Maturation Pods, also called generators, around the map.
- Use the Bio Lab water control to raise the Pack-a-Punch platform.

2. Get the DRI-11 Beamsmasher
The Beamsmasher is central to the common route. You can build it through the quest sequence or try for it in the Mystery Box.
Build the weapon
The build route involves activating Dead Wire access, collecting the EMF Fob, solving a console puzzle, obtaining a resonator, feeding the colored island orbs, then returning to the workbench. Follow the in-game clues for the console and orb steps; the walkthroughs describe the sequence but do not establish a universal solution that should be applied without checking your match.

Try the Mystery Box
The Mystery Box can give you the Beamsmasher at random, bypassing the build sequence. This is a possible shortcut, not a guaranteed drop or a predictable wait time. If it does not appear, use the build route.
3. Release the hard drive from a Tentacle Trap
- Activate a Tentacle Trap.
- Use the Beamsmasher’s primary beam on the tentacles. The correct trap releases the hard drive.
- Carry the hard drive to the mailbox or postbox at the starting Security Station and deliver it to Peck.
There are four possible trap locations, and the correct one can vary. Inspect the environmental clues in your match rather than assuming a fixed location.

4. Find the three digits for Nathan’s chamber
The keypad code is assembled from three live clues, in this order. It is not a fixed code shared by every run.

Read the digits in that order and enter them at the Bio Lab chamber keypad.

5. Release Nathan and retrieve the keycard
- Use the Bio Lab chamber valves or dials according to the interaction for your player count.
- Defeat Nathan after he transforms into an Amalgam. The fight locks players into the area while enemies spawn.
- After the cutscene, search the water at the bottom of the same room for the keycard.
6. Repair the communication network
- Take a boat to the shipwreck and collect the node connectors. Picking one up triggers a lockdown encounter, so have squad members enter the room before anyone takes a connector.
- Carry the connectors to the two broken communication nodes. The node locations are selected from possible locations, so check the map and surroundings during your run.
- Once both nodes are repaired, return to the Security Station. After the dialogue advances, collect the hacking device from the postbox or Peck area.
7. Hack the buoys, then defuse all three bombs
- Use the hacking device on three ocean buoys. Hacking the first starts a two-minute timer for the remaining buoys.
- When all three are hacked, return immediately to the Bio Lab. A five-minute bomb timer begins.
- Interact with all three bombs before time runs out.
Players are exposed while interacting with the bombs, and the timer is strict. In co-op, decide who will handle each bomb before starting the buoy hacks. Decoys or Monkey Bombs may help distract enemies, but the walkthroughs present them as options rather than requirements.
8. Defeat Patient 13
When ready, enter the boss area through the door beside Melee Macchiato. The fight has three phases, with breaks and additional enemies between them.
- Target Patient 13’s exposed weak points as they change between phases.
- Use cover and the water to evade attacks and manage the additional enemies.
- In the final phase, Patient 13 can charge a blue energy attack described by the walkthroughs as lethal on contact. Break line of sight or get into the water before it lands.
The walkthroughs recommend upgraded weapons and strong survivability for the encounter, but do not establish a single required loadout or patch-stable damage values. Defeating Patient 13 completes the quest and awards the No Mo’ Modi achievement.
