Black Ops 6’s Directed Mode marks the objectives for each map’s Main Quest and caps rounds at 15. In the Season 01 announcement, the mode covered Liberty Falls and Terminus; it also disabled Side Quests and S.A.M. Trials so players could focus on the Zombies story. It was designed as a guided route through the narrative, released after the community’s initial chance to discover the quests together.
What Directed Mode changes
Directed Mode gives players marked objectives for completing a map’s Main Quest. The official Call of Duty Season 01 announcement set a maximum round cap of 15 and said Side Quests and S.A.M. Trials are disabled. Its examples were uncovering human experiments on Terminus Island and assembling the LTG in Liberty Falls.

The focus is the main narrative rather than every activity on a map. The mode does not replace the Main Quest with a different story; it supplies guidance for moving through its objectives.

Why Treyarch waited to release it
Treyarch said the guided option would arrive after each map launched, preserving an initial Easter Egg hunt for the community. Players could work together to uncover and complete the Main Quest and Side Quests before Directed Mode provided a more explicit route. The studio’s Black Ops 6 Zombies overview framed the mode as a way to explore the story with more guidance, while keeping the launch-period discovery experience intact.

Black Ops 6 launched with the round-based Zombies maps Terminus and Liberty Falls, as stated in the official launch guide. The Season 01 announcement named both maps for Directed Mode. That establishes the feature’s initial announced scope, but not whether every later Zombies map supports it.
