What Directed Mode does
Directed Mode is a guided way to complete a Zombies map’s Main Quest. Treyarch described it as offering “direct assistance in completing the Main Quest, with objectives listed on-screen.” The prompts show what to do next, while round caps limit how far a match can advance before a quest objective is completed.

When you reach a cap, defeat the zombies in that round and the round repeats until you finish the objective. This gives you time to work on the quest without rounds continuing to climb past that step. The mode still involves combat; it does not complete the quest automatically.
How it differs from Standard Mode

What is disabled
Directed Mode focuses on the Main Quest rather than optional activities. Treyarch’s broader description says Side Quests, Easter Eggs, Trials, and the Rampage Inducer are disabled. For the initial Liberty Falls and Terminus implementation, Season 01 information specifically called out Side Quests and S.A.M. Trials as unavailable.

Which maps have Directed Mode?
The official sources reviewed document several additions, but do not confirm an exhaustive live roster. Map availability can change, so check the Zombies playlist in game for the current selection.
- Liberty Falls and Terminus: The initial Directed Mode maps, available with Season 01. Their initial implementation had a maximum round cap of 15, according to the Season 01 announcement.
- Citadelle des Morts: Season 01 patch notes later documented Directed Mode availability for this map, including unique rewards and changes to when zombies spawn in rounds.
- Reckoning: Season 05 intel announced a Directed Mode version for mid-season, with visible objectives, guided Main Quest progression, and a Calling Card variant.
Why it arrived after launch
Treyarch announced the mode before Black Ops 6 launched but planned to release it later so the community could explore the new maps unaided first. The pre-launch description also mentioned a Calling Card reward for completing a Main Quest before Directed Mode went live. Directed Mode then arrived for Liberty Falls and Terminus with Season 01.

How to turn it on
Select a map and its Directed playlist option from the Zombies menu. Exact menu labels and placement can vary with updates; if you do not see the option for a map, it may not be in the current Directed selection.

- Choose Directed Mode if you want prompts for the Main Quest or prefer a more controlled pace while learning its steps.
- Choose Standard Mode if you want to explore without on-screen quest directions or take part in activities disabled in Directed Mode.
The Round 15 limit applies to the initial Liberty Falls and Terminus implementation; it should not be assumed to apply to every map or later version. The official sources reviewed do not provide completion-rate or difficulty comparisons between modes.
