NC America launched the North American and European service through PURPLE on February 25, 2025; NCSOFT brought it to Steam on June 5, 2025. The Steam listing classifies it as free to play, and the publisher says Steam and PURPLE players can cross-play.
When did Blade & Soul NEO come out on PC?
The PC release happened in stages. NC America announced the game for North America and Europe in January 2025, then began service through PURPLE on February 25. Steam availability followed on June 5, 2025. The publisher’s February release announcement and June Steam announcement establish those dates. (The February announcement is available at NCSOFT’s release page.)
The February announcement described Japan and Taiwan as planned for March 12, 2025. That was a plan announced at the time, not confirmation of current availability in those regions. The cited announcements do not establish today’s complete regional service list, server health, or player population.
What is Blade & Soul NEO?
NCSOFT presents NEO as a remastered, modern reinterpretation of the original Blade & Soul, a wuxia-inspired fantasy MMORPG. The publisher highlights enhanced visuals, action-oriented combat, character customization, the original storyline, and Infinite Windwalk, a gliding ability. These are publisher-described features rather than independent assessments of graphics or performance. See NC America’s January 2025 announcement and the Steam-launch release.

Is Blade & Soul NEO free to play?
Yes. Steam classifies Blade & Soul NEO as free to play, so buying a game copy is not required to access it through Steam. Check the Steam store page for current access and account details.

Can Steam and PURPLE players play together?
Yes. In its June 5, 2025 announcement, NCSOFT said Steam and PURPLE versions support cross-play. PURPLE was the route for the February PC launch; Steam arrived later. NCSOFT also said the Steam launch brought two new servers, so Steam should not be described as the original February launch platform.

The Steam listing specifies Windows 10 64-bit, DirectX 11, broadband internet, and 100 GB of available storage for both tiers. Its listed hardware differs between minimum and recommended requirements:

These are the tiers on the Steam listing accessed October 8, 2026; store specifications can change, so verify them there before installing. The 100 GB figure is available capacity, not a storage-type requirement: the listing does not say an SSD is necessary. Compare your PC’s operating system, processor, RAM, graphics card, internet connection, and free space with the tier you’re targeting; the listing alone does not establish that any specific upgrade is needed.
