The announcement, posted October 7, 2026, outlines the areas being changed but does not specify every adjustment or when each will arrive.
What Blizzard announced
Blizzard’s October 7 forum synopsis says the development team will work on three areas: the Skyborne visual style, HD druid forms, and player choice through SD character models. The post describes the scope broadly; it does not provide model-by-model specifications or a confirmed delivery date for all of the changes. Blizzard’s official forum announcement is the available synopsis, while its linked full article was not accessible.
| Area | What Blizzard says | What is not specified |
|---|---|---|
| Skyborne visual style | The team will refine it. | The specific visual changes. |
| HD druid forms | The team will revisit them. | Which forms or details will change. |
| SD character models | Blizzard says it will expand player choice with SD models. | Exact model options and availability timing. |
Why players raised visual-consistency concerns
WoW: Forever has both HD and SD visual modes. Before this announcement, at least some players were concerned that the Skyborne’s bright, high-contrast HD customizations could look out of place beside the game’s Classic-style world, and that there was no SD Skyborne model option. A September 29 forum post captures that concern, but individual posts do not establish how widespread the view was or which specific comments prompted Blizzard’s decisions. The player discussion is an example, not a measure of community-wide opinion.
Who the Skyborne are in WoW: Forever
The Skyborne, also known as the shen’dorei or “hidden people,” are a new playable race. Their level 1–12 introduction takes place on Zephras Isle, and players can choose either the Horde or Alliance when creating a character. Blizzard introduced the race on September 22. Why the race can join either faction
In an October 7 interview reported by TechRadar, Blizzard said making the Skyborne available to both factions was intended to reduce the risk of a future population imbalance. Blizzard also cited the introduction of Blood Elves in The Burning Crusade as contributing to a historical faction shift. It described the change as “almost 40% in fact,” moving from 60/40 Alliance/Horde to 60/40 Horde/Alliance. Those figures are Blizzard’s account as quoted by TechRadar; the report does not supply an independently verified population dataset. TechRadar’s interview report.
Blizzard also characterized Zephras Isle as a short introduction, saying players would spend an estimated “4-6 hours” there before returning to terrestrial Azeroth. That is the studio’s approximate expectation, not a measured playtest result, as reported by TechRadar.
