Blood of Mehran is a third-person action-adventure built around a straightforward revenge story, with melee combat, stealth passages and occasional horseback travel. Its setting and atmosphere may appeal to players who want a linear, old-school hack-and-slash, but reviews raise substantial concerns about combat responsiveness, technical polish and storytelling.
What is Blood of Mehran about?
Mehran has left warfare behind for family life. When a tyrannical king destroys that life, he takes up arms again and sets out for revenge. The premise gives the game a clear motivation for its action, though Gaming.net’s review judged that the story and character development do not make enough of it.
Permanent Way Games developed Blood of Mehran, and Blowfish Studios published it. The reviewed versions include PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. GameFAQs lists the PC release date as October 7, 2025: GameFAQs.
How does it play?
Games Asylum describes a third-person hack-and-slash structure that mixes melee encounters with stealth sections and occasional horseback travel. Rather than an open world, its review characterizes the action as largely linear, moving through distinct sections as the game introduces weapons, enemy types and attacks.

That structure suits players who prefer a guided progression to broad exploration, but offers less freedom for those seeking a large world to roam. Games Asylum estimated a campaign of about 15 hours; that is one outlet’s approximation, not a guaranteed completion time.
What do reviews say about combat and presentation?
Combat and controls
Combat feel is a recurring concern in the reviews. Gaming.net criticized controls it found unresponsive, imprecise fighting and stiff animation. Other reviews also describe uneven combat. These are reviewers’ assessments, not claims that every player or platform will behave identically, but they point to the central question for prospective players: whether the fighting feels satisfying enough to carry the campaign.

Story, setting and atmosphere
Gaming.net felt the story lacked development, while the review coverage more broadly identifies weak storytelling or presentation as drawbacks. The setting and selected environments draw more favorable notice: Gaming.net acknowledged their appeal, and other reviewers praised aspects of the locations, atmosphere or music. Those strengths may matter most to players for whom mood and setting can compensate for less polished mechanics.
Technical execution
Some reviewers reported performance or visual stuttering. Because these impressions come from reviews of particular versions and play sessions, they should not be treated as a measured guarantee about every copy. If performance is a deciding factor, look for impressions specifically tied to the platform you plan to use rather than assuming that a report on PS5, PC or Xbox applies equally to the others.

How well was Blood of Mehran received?
Metacritic’s PS5 critic page displayed a 38 Metascore, labeled “Generally Unfavorable,” based on six critic reviews. The review dates shown ran from October 6 to November 7, 2025. This is a dated critic-aggregation snapshot for PS5, not a user score or a score for every version: Metacritic.
Gaming.net scored the game 5 and highlighted control, combat, animation and story issues alongside the appeal of some environments. Taken together with the other reviews, the clearest divide is between the game’s evocative setting and its frequently criticized execution. Individual responses can differ, especially for players content with a simple linear action game rather than modern action-adventure polish.

Is Blood of Mehran worth playing?
It is most likely to suit players who specifically want a linear revenge adventure, enjoy the setting and atmosphere, and are willing to tolerate potentially rough combat or presentation. Players who prioritize responsive melee controls, refined animation, a strongly developed story, open exploration or reliably smooth performance have reasons to be cautious. Check platform-specific impressions before deciding if technical performance is important to you.
