Why did The Duskbloods remind viewers of Bloodborne?
The reveal paired a dark, Gothic presentation with characters whose powers come from special blood. Director Hidetaka Miyazaki describes the playable Bloodsworn as broadly vampire-like, though not traditional horrifying monsters; the setting spans different periods and places, including Gothic and Victorian-style maps. Those cues help explain why some viewers reached for Bloodborne as a comparison.

That resemblance is a reaction to the game’s look and themes, not evidence of shared continuity. FromSoftware’s announcement describes The Duskbloods as a new multiplayer action game and does not identify it as Bloodborne 2.

Those posts illustrate different individual reactions; one Reddit thread is not a representative survey of Bloodborne fans. There is no cited statistic establishing how the wider fanbase feels.
What kind of game is The Duskbloods?
FromSoftware calls it a PvPvE game: players compete against one another while also facing enemies. Online multiplayer is central to the announced format, with up to eight players vying for supremacy. Miyazaki described the structure this way in Nintendo’s Creator’s Voice interview: “In terms of structure, we consider it a PvPvE (2) title. At its core is an online multiplayer focused game, with both player vs player and player vs enemy gameplay.”

Why is The Duskbloods a Switch 2 exclusive?
Miyazaki said Nintendo’s interest helped the project get started. The game initially took shape with the original Switch in mind; later, Switch 2 hardware gave the team more room to emphasize online play while pursuing its original vision. In the interview, he said: “The new hardware allowed us to focus more on the online aspect of the title and stay as true to the original vision as possible, which was very good news for us.”

FromSoftware’s announcement names Nintendo and FromSoftware as publishers and Nintendo Switch 2 as the platform. It does not announce versions for other systems, or explain whether exclusivity could change later.
