Fans have made Bloodborne playable on PC with higher-resolution and 60 FPS options, but there is no official Sony or FromSoftware 4K/60 FPS release. The community projects use different approaches, require users to provide their own game files, and do not guarantee the same performance on every PC.
What “Bloodborne at 4K and 60 FPS” means
The headline refers to community projects that run Bloodborne on PC, not a new PlayStation edition or an official PC port. Their documentation describes options for higher resolutions and frame rates, but those settings are not proof that every setup will deliver stable 4K at 60 frames per second.

Two projects in particular take different approaches: bbhost describes a translation layer for Windows and Linux, while bbport documents its own PC implementation and resolution and upscaling options. Their features and limitations should be understood separately.
How the community projects differ
| Project | Approach and platform | Resolution and frame rate | Documented caveats |
|---|---|---|---|
| bbhost | Its documentation describes running Bloodborne’s version 1.09 executable on Windows and Linux through PC implementations of PS4 system libraries and a Vulkan graphics path. | Documents any resolution and 60 FPS as an option, alongside PC-oriented controls and settings. These are project capabilities, not a performance guarantee. | The project lists first-visit shader pipeline hitches, occasional failed initial summons, compute work still handled through an emulated command processor, and an unresolved GPU hang report on an AMD RX 580 under Windows. |
| bbport | A separate PC project with its own implementation and configuration. | Documents 720p, 1080p, 1440p and 4K paths, plus FSR options. Its startup resolution patch differs from live-resolution mode, which adds workload. | The project recommends live-resolution mode only for strong desktop GPUs. Some optional setup steps rely on user-provided files, and its documented instructions do not verify Steam Deck support. |
These descriptions come from project documentation, not an independent, controlled comparison across graphics cards. Neither project’s published settings establish a universal minimum GPU specification or a consistent stability rate. In particular, a 4K option does not by itself say whether a given setup is rendering every frame at native 4K, using an upscaling path, or sustaining 60 FPS during play.

- Bloodborne Game of The Year
- If Bloodborne needs to be summed up, then the prevalent themes would be: exploring the fearsome unknown, intense life-and-death battles, and a familiar yet uniquely new online experience
- From the makers of the infamous Souls series, From Software's PS4 exclusive will attempt to take the tried and tested formula of giving players a sense of achievement to the next stage - especially when Miyazaki, the original creator of the Souls series is back at the helm
- What is promised is a harrowing experience like no other, and fans of tension, discovery, and straight up fun will sure to be excited to play Bloodborne
- If you have played the previous Souls games, then this one is a definite must buy
What you need before setting it up
For the documented bbhost setup, the project says users must provide their own Bloodborne version 1.09 game files; bbhost itself contains no game code or data. Do not assume that downloading a community tool includes the game. The bbport instructions also include optional steps that depend on user-provided files, including creating FSR 4.1.1 assets.
Hardware and configuration matter. Higher-resolution rendering places more work on the GPU, and bbport specifically describes its live-resolution mode as more demanding than its startup resolution patch. The available project documentation does not establish a GPU model that will reliably deliver 4K/60 FPS, so treat the listed options as settings to investigate rather than a promise about your system.

Why the 4K/60 FPS claim predates these PC projects
Bloodborne was already shown running at 4K/60 FPS in a Digital Foundry video published March 25, 2021. That demonstration combined Lance McDonald’s frame-rate patch for the PS4 game with AI upscaling; it was not a retail version or an official PlayStation release.
In a February 2, 2025 report, PC Gamer said McDonald reported that Sony Interactive Entertainment had asked him to remove links to his patch. The report describes the patch as removing Bloodborne’s original 30 FPS cap and says McDonald’s work informed further efforts, including work related to ShadPS4. That historical link-removal report does not establish that all current community projects are unavailable.

As PC Gamer quoted McDonald, identified as the patch creator and a modder: “On February 21st, 2021, I created and released a patch for Bloodborne which makes the game run at 60fps.” The patch history is distinct from the current project documentation for bbhost and bbport.
