To host a Blooket multiplayer game, open a question set, select Host, choose a live game mode, configure the settings, and select Host Now. Players then join at play.blooket.com with the game code, scan the host’s QR code, or open the shared join link. No student account is required for live participation.
How to host a Blooket game
- Sign in to Blooket and start from My Sets, Discover, or Create.
- Open the question set’s preview or set page and select Host.
- Choose a live game mode, then select Host again.
- Configure the available settings. Depending on the mode, these can include a time limit or goal, brief instructions before play, late joining, random player names, and hiding account-creation options from students.
- Select Host Now. Blooket displays a Game ID, QR Code, and Link for the session.
- Share one of those joining options. When players have entered the lobby, select Start.
Blooket’s documented host workflow is browser-based; there is no command syntax for creating or joining a standard live game. See Blooket’s hosting instructions for the current screen flow.
How players join quickly
Use the game code
Players should open play.blooket.com and enter the live game code shown by the host. Blooket’s official pages currently disagree about whether the code has six or seven digits, so use the code exactly as displayed on the host’s live-session screen rather than relying on a fixed digit count.
Scan the QR code
The host can display the session’s QR code. Players scan it with their device camera and follow the resulting Blooket link.

Open the join link
The host can copy and share the session link. This is particularly convenient for virtual classes because players can click it directly instead of typing a code.
After opening the session, players choose a Blook while waiting in the lobby. If Use Random Names is disabled, they enter a nickname. If it is enabled, Blooket assigns a randomly generated nickname instead. The host can change this setting before selecting Host Now.

Do players need Blooket accounts?
No. A student can join a live game without creating or signing in to an account. However, players must log in before joining if they want to earn points or use their own Blooks. This makes account-free joining useful when speed matters, while signed-in participation preserves account-based benefits.
Late joining and lobby settings
A player who misses the lobby cannot enter after the game starts unless the host enables Allow Late Join. Turn it on before hosting when students may arrive at different times, connect from a virtual classroom, or need a second attempt after a browser problem.

- Café: up to 60 free players and 300 Plus players.
Some Plus-only modes are listed with a 60-player limit for both free and Plus entries. Confirm the limit shown for the selected mode rather than assuming the largest advertised limit applies everywhere.
Fast fixes when hosting or joining fails
- Disable browser extensions temporarily: Blooket says ad blockers and other Chrome extensions can interfere with login, joining, or hosting, even though Blooket does not run ads.
- Check the network firewall: A firewall or school network policy blocking
firebaseio.comcan affect joining or hosting. Blooket uses that service for backend functionality. - Check username capitalization: Blooket usernames are case-sensitive during login. Enter the exact capitalization used when the account was created.
- Verify late-join settings: If the game has already started, the player can join only if Allow Late Join was enabled.
- Use the live code, link, or QR code: Do not rely on an old code from another session. Ask the host to display the current session details again.
If a school network continues to block the game, the host or administrator may need to review the network policy rather than changing the question set or game mode.
Bottom line
The fastest setup is: open a set, choose Host, select a currently live-compatible mode, enable Allow Late Join if needed, select Host Now, and share the displayed code, QR code, or link. Students can join without accounts, but mode availability, player limits, Plus access, and seasonal availability should be checked before the session begins.
