Raw Fury, the publisher of Blue Prince, said the game used no AI after it received the 2025 Indie Game Awards’ Game of the Year award. The award went to Blue Prince after the organization disqualified Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 over what it described as Sandfall Interactive’s confirmation of generative-AI use. Those are attributed statements and an award decision—not independent audits of either game’s production.
What Raw Fury said about AI in Blue Prince
Raw Fury’s statement, reproduced by GameSpot, was categorical: “There is no AI used in Blue Prince.” The publisher also credited developer Tonda Ros and his team, describing the game as the result of “eight years of development” fueled by imagination and creativity. That development-period figure is Raw Fury’s characterization, not an independently verified statistic.

The statement should be attributed to Raw Fury, not to Ros personally. The available reporting relays the publisher’s claim; it does not independently inspect the game’s assets or establish a production audit.
Why Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 lost the award
The Indie Game Awards said its rules took a hard stance on generative AI, including during nominations and the ceremony. As reported by GameSpot and VGC, the organization said Sandfall Interactive representatives agreed during submission that no generative AI had been used in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. It then said Sandfall confirmed generative-AI use on the day of the 2025 premiere.

On that stated basis, the organization disqualified the game and reassigned its Game of the Year award to Blue Prince. This explains the award change as the organization described it; it should not be read as an independent finding about either studio’s production process.

The official 2025 award page lists Blue Prince as Game of the Year. The organization describes itself as an annual awards-only ceremony honoring excellence in indie gaming, shaped by industry collaboration, in its FAQ.

In short, the award was reassigned to Blue Prince following the disqualification, and Raw Fury subsequently stated that the game used no AI. The available sources establish what the publisher and awards organization said, not a third-party verification of either claim.
