Yes. Skydance announced on October 6, 2026, that former Activision CEO Bobby Kotick had joined its board as an independent director. The board approved his appointment on October 4, and it became effective when Paramount’s acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery closed on October 6.

When did Kotick join Skydance’s board?

Skydance’s October 6 announcement identified Kotick as an independent director. A Skydance Corporation filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission says the board appointed Robert A. Kotick on October 4, with the appointment effective at the closing of the merger transactions. The filing was dated October 6, 2026: Skydance Corporation Form 8-K.

That condition was met on October 6, when Paramount’s acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery closed. Skydance described the transaction as creating the combined company Skydance; the Associated Press also reported the close that day. See Skydance’s merger-close announcement and the Associated Press report.

Who else was named to the board?

In the same announcement, Skydance named Ynon Kreiz and Laurene Powell Jobs as independent directors alongside Kotick. Tony Blair was named a board advisor, a separate role from directorship. The announcement does not give a reason for Kotick’s selection or describe specific responsibilities beyond his board membership: Skydance’s board announcement.

What the appointment does—and does not—establish

The confirmed development is a board appointment tied to the merger closing. The available company announcement and SEC filing do not explain what influence Kotick will have on Skydance’s strategy, nor do they indicate that his appointment signals a particular direction for the company’s games or entertainment businesses.
