What Birt’s Bees does
The Borderlands Wiki lists Birt’s Bees as a legendary Vladof submachine gun. Its Hivemind effect sends bee projectiles that fly erratically, converge toward your aiming reticle, and randomly home toward nearby targets. The listed flavor text is “Fill your life with laughter and bees.”
The community entry lists possible versions with corrosive, cryo, incendiary, radiation, shock, or no element. It does not establish a complete item-card stat block or guaranteed parts, so damage, fire rate, magazine size, and exact rolls should be checked on the weapon you find rather than assumed. Where to find Birt’s Bees
The community wiki lists Birt’s Bees as obtainable from suitable loot sources generally, with an increased chance from Sludgemaw. It associates the boss with Watershed Gate and Idolator’s Noose in the Fadefields. That makes Sludgemaw the reported target for farming, but not a guaranteed drop source: no authoritative drop rate is established, and the item may take multiple attempts.

How to farm Sludgemaw
- Complete All Charged Up. PC Gamer’s September 2025 guide says this quest leads to the Sludgemaw encounter and unlocks Moxxi’s Big Encore for repeat attempts.
- Return to Sludgemaw and activate Moxxi’s Big Encore. The guide describes reaching the boss again by walking back. It also notes that Sludgemaw may burrow underground and sometimes get stuck; these are reported route behaviors, not verified current-build guarantees.
- Defeat the boss and check the loot. Look for Birt’s Bees, then inspect its element and parts for the roll you want. Neither the exact roll nor a drop on any particular attempt is guaranteed by the available sources.
- Repeat the encounter if needed. PC Gamer describes using Big Encore to respawn Sludgemaw, but there is no verified expected number of runs or farming time. The guide’s report of a drop after roughly five runs is one player’s anecdote, not a drop-rate statistic.
PC Gamer’s route details were published in September 2025; Borderlands 4 has continued receiving updates, including official major update notes dated February 26, 2026. Those notes do not confirm Birt’s Bees’ drop mechanics, so check current in-game behavior if the reported route does not match your build. Is there another way to get it?
Nerdschalk’s guide, updated September 16, 2025, also mentions a possible acquisition during the Null and Void mission in Idolator’s Noose. The source does not establish that this route is repeatable, guaranteed, or still available in the current build, so treat it only as an alternate reported opportunity—not a dependable farming method.
